Learning the System

Today I woke up really early. After all, today was the day that I would be beginning on my path to becoming the strongest being in this new world!

When Mother got up, after shaking her for a while, we made our way out to the courtyard. Before we left we enjoyed eating some of the left over remains from the Giants Ants that Mother battled yesterday.

"Right then, today my dear Alicia we are going to be beginning our lesson on the basics. Me explaining to you what everything means will be a lot easier than reading one of the books we have on it… Reading and learning sucks after all…"

"Mother?"

"Hmm? Oh nothing, its not relevant till later anyway, hehe."

Mother was in her human form teaching me for this first part. She was wearing her usual off the shoulder kimono that was red and black, though the patterns on this one were slightly different than the one from yesterday but was just as beautiful. She also wore sandals as always but today had her hair up in a bun rather then just flowing down.

"Hmmm, to begin with you should check what skills and stats you have on your status board. Try summoning it in your head."

Status board? How strange, but I gave it a go imagining a board like in the various games in my old world.

"Ohhhh…"

And there it appeared

"Hehe, I am guessing by the surprise on your face, that you have seen your status board. Now if you look at your skills, Dragons tend to already have skills when they are born. These skills level up as you use them more. Once they get to level ten there is then a chance that these skills can evolve into a better form of that skill. Skills assigned by this system will often be different for everyone and is personalised for everyone as you grow."

How interesting, I look at the various skills and when I concentrate on one it gives me a description of what it does.

I look at a few of them. I realised that the flames that Mother produced during her earlier fight must have been because of this Flame Element Magic skill. I would be surprised that magic exists… but this whole world so far was pretty unbelievable. Plus, I saw her manipulate flames with my own eyes.

I check a few that did not seem to be obvious.

[Feisty Roar: Attempt to intimidate an enemy with a small roar.]

Hmm, I should probably aim to try and evolve this skill as soon as possible. With my current body it sounds like this skill will end up making me look more cute than intimidating.

[Territory Boost: Increase own stats when in territory that is considered yours.]

[Princesses Command: Boost the stats of allies and subordinates who are battling with or for you.]

[Flame Dragons Bravery: In situations that may seem desperate or terrifying, Flame Dragons do not become discouraged and can in fact thrive.]

[Dragon Regeneration: A Dragon has the ability to quickly recover from injuries as well as regather mana more quickly than other species.]

The other skills seemed quite helpful as well, oooo I can't wait to test these skills out.

"Another thing you might note is that you have the divine protection of a god. We the Valensca bloodline have always had the divine protection of the Dragon God Xerxes from birth since long ago." Mother says as pushes out her chest in pride.

"Oooo, you're right! What does it do?" I ask inquisitively

"Once you evolve into your adult form then you will see the benefits. It enhances the special trait of us Flame Dragons, which is fighting and so boosts our strength, speed and stamina as well as an increase in the power of our fire magic."

"Evolve?"

"Ah yes, once Dragon fledglings reach a certain level, they then evolve into an adult Flame Dragon form. Some creatures evolve more than others. For example, there is a race called humans that are not known to evolve into any new form, they just grow bigger due to their age."

So I can evolve my level reaches a certain point huh? And there are also humans in this world to, I wonder if they are similar to what I used to be. Also, our family must be pretty important to have every family member from birth receive the blessing of a God. I will have to get more details from Mother at some point.

"The Class section of your status should say "None" at the moment. You will be able to pick a class once you attain your humanoid form so it is not really relevant to you yet. We shall talk about classes when you can get one."

That is fair enough, I don't want to be getting information if it is not relevant to me yet and can't make me stronger right now.

"Well then let's move onto stats. Vitality is our life force, if that hits zero then you die. So make sure when you are in battle that you keep an eye on that number. Also important is the MP bar, that measures how much mana you have remaining. Mana is what you use to cast our flame magic. This means once it hits zero, you will not be able to cast anything and will have to rely on physical attacks."

Well that's quite unsettling, having something that counts down your life force. I will have to keep a close eye on that in the future.

"Strength, Stamina and Speed are quite self-explanatory as it shows how much you have in regards to those separate attributes. Intelligence is your ability to gather and retain information you are given. For us Flame Dragons, the intelligence attribute is not really important as much of our focus goes into the attributes that help us get stronger when fighting. I mean who needs it when it doesn't make you any stronger in battle, you agree right Alicia!"

"Yesh Mother!"

"Haah, you are so cute Alicia. I know that you will soon be able to talk fine, but you are so cute when you bite your tongue or stutter!"

"M-Mother!"

I was once again captured.

Before I was grabbed by mother, I did genuinely agree with her. What's the point of being super smart in things that are not related to fighting? It's not going to help me get stronger and win fights. Though I do not want to be totally dumb so I shall make sure I know enough to get by...

"Fufu, your hair is so fluffy and soft haah…"

"Kyaa! Mother you are drooling on my hair! Shtauppp!"

…

…

A while later…

"Hehe, I do apologise Alicia I just cannot control myself when you are so cute! It would be a crime for me not to hug, stroke and rub you!"

"Haah, Mother you really need to calm yourself. Now come oooonn, you were teaching me about my status board. We need to hurry so I can start learning how to fight!"

"It is good to see how fired up you are Alicia…. Fufufu almost makes me want too..."

"Mother…"

"Hehe, I am joking… sort of… anyway, is there anything you would like to know?"

There was definitely something I wanted to know. It has something to do with one of my titles. The [Princess of the Mountain] title was not hard to see why I had that one. I guessed that Mother had something similar except Queen instead of Princess.

That was not the one I had a problem with.

"Yesh…. Yes, I seem to have a title called [Tiny One] as well as a status affect that called [Small Build]."

Mother giggled before she answered. She clearly found this a lot more humorous then I did.

"It is probably because you hatched… or more like blew out of your egg earlier then you should have done. That's why I wasn't around when you hatched, I thought you would be in your egg still for a while yet."

So basically, I hatched prematurely. So because of that I am now cursed with that STUPID title for who knows how long and this status effect….

[Small Build: Strength is reduced by 30 points and Stamina is reduced by 20 points. Speed is increased by 10 points]

Urghh, the increase in speed is welcome but that is a massive hit to my strength and stamina. Stupid system trying to mess with me.

But maybe if I get stronger, level myself up and evolve that status will disappear. Yupp, then I will be able to ride that path to one day be strong enough to mess with Mother the same way she has done with me these last few days, fufufu.

"Oh, Mother what level are you?"

If I know my target, then it gives me an idea of how far I have to go until I can best her. However…

"I am Level 194."

Eh? So far away?!

"I suppose it would be a lot higher if had fought all the time, but most of the time you want to fight someone who can challenge you. Although when I do find those who can challenge me I often leave them alive, so I don't get the exp for killing them. I mean how else are they suppose to come back give me a good fight again? Plus it just gets harder and harder to level up your skills and your general level…."

Mother kept on talking, but I just sat there disappointed at how far I have to go before being able to be anywhere near Mothers level. I guess that is to be expected though considering the power I witnessed that she used without even trying.

"…. And that is why I shall start bringing Monsters from the forest here for you to start having some battle experience. The training will start in a week's time in order for you to get used to your skills. But don't worry Mother will be here so you will be in no danger and…"

No way, actual battles…. ITS BEEN SO LONG!

I really cannot wait this time, I'll have to get preparing so I can kick some arse!

Thus a week of preparation began.
