Chapter 2: Life On The Moon

"We sure have it rough don't we?"

"With so many delinquents in this school…."

"Hey, what's up with Reina sensei over there?"

"The lifeless expression on her face reminds me of a zombie…."

"Don't compare that beautiful lady to a monster! Though she does look a little bummed out. I wonder what happened to her?"

The teacher in question, Arikawa Reina, was sitting at her desk with a blank expression on her face, her right eye hysterically twitching. She was holding a crumpled up piece of paper in her hand.

It was an essay by one of her students.

It's content was disturbing to say the least.

'My name is Sakae Sakata…..'

It started out normal, but then it took a very strange turn.

'My dream is to one day to live on the moon'

Sounded innocent enough. Even with her worries, she gave it a benefit of the doubt.

'Females are everywhere. I try to avoid them, but they like a plague, they never go away.'

'I tried to hide in the bushes, on top of trees, and in deep holes, but they keep finding me. There is no escape!'

'Dad keeps pestering me about getting a girlfriend; even though I told him thousand times I don't want one! I suspect that he is going to try to hitch me with someone. Must prevent that at all cost. I am already living separately from my family with all the money I saved up from summer jobs, so at least I no longer have to worry about shelter….'

'A life of no drama and no craziness that is all I ask for…but is that really possible? As long as I am on this planet, there is always a chance that a female might sink her claws into me and by the time I realize I am caught, it will be too late'

'I don't wanna be eaten! I want to have a long and peaceful life. A girl can get away with stabbing you, shooting you in the head, cutting your ****s off while you sleep….drugging you, beating you….and society will simply avert its gaze. I want none of that!'

'Unfortunately a nuclear missile that targets only females has not been invented yet and even if it was, government will never allow me to press the on button'

'That is why; the best solution is to remove myself from the equation. I heard that the space scientists are working on making a comfortable life possible on the surface of the moon in ten years. If they ask for volunteers, I am going to sign up.'

'Living a life isolated from all the she-demons that see you as a meal ticket or an easy prey….This will solve all my problems.'

'I am going to the moon!'

'And that is my dream'

Reina Sensei: "What is wrong with that kid!?"

It may have sounded loony, but she couldn't help but suspect it may have been cry for help. She needed to do something before it was too late.

Reina Sensei: "I need to keep an eye on him, for his own good!"

* * *

Sacred Flower Academy.

A high school that many students attended and spent three years of their lives in.

Unlike most high-schools, there was a unique policy that allowed girls to carry non-lethal weapons. This policy was created as a way to empower girls and make them gain courage.

It was not unusual to see girls with wooden swords strapped to their backs.

The school already was infamous for its large number of delinquents and fights among students, but this policy made things go from bad to worse. They wanted to decrease the amount of violence, but instead they merely increased the number of female bullies.

But that did not mean that male bullies just vanished into thin air. On contraire, their numbers and rate of violence only grew worse.

And that was exactly what this school was, a heaven for bullies. Tyrants ran this place, tormenting all the weaker students. Once a bully targets you, it was game over.

And teachers like Reina Sensei found themselves helpless in face of so much delinquency.

Fights between boys happened every day and even if the male students came in bruised all over, the teachers would ignore it and continue with the lesson.

The boys were expected to simply tough it out.

Reina Sensei: 'It is regrettable. But I have no power in my hands'

So many times she filed a complaint after complaint, trying to make her superiors aware of the situation in schools, but the only answer she received was 'Girls are safe, that is all that matters'.

Reina Sensei: 'But what about the boys? I went to eight funerals last year alone'

Because none cared about fights when they were between boys, the rate of suicides increased as well, but even then, the rules stayed the same.

Reina Sensei: "Going to the moon, my ass! I need to make sure he is ok!"

So, the great sensei chose the most rational approach-spying on Sakae Sakata every day before he comes to school.

Monday. A student by the name of Moeka Nemu confessed to Sakae Sakata. Mr. Sakata rejected her immediately. "Go away. I have absolutely no interest in you!" He said so while hiding behind his taller, handsome friend.

Tuesday. A student was being bullied by three large upperclassmen. The student's glasses were taken from him and he was thrown into the mud, with the bullies repeatedly kicking him. Before I could interfere, Mr. Sakata showed up and without a word of warning beat the three upperclassmen to a pulp.

Apparently, the glasses-boy was one of Mr. Sakata's friends, so his reaction was justifiable.

Still, Reina Sensei watched Sakae beat up the three bullies with such ferocity that she felt a little sorry for them. Had it not been for Sakae's other friend grabbing Sakae from behind and putting him in a master lock headlock, she was not sure if those three would have made it out in one piece.

Wednesday. The three bullies were all bandaged up and one had a cast on his hand. As soon as they saw Mr. Sakata approaching, they immediately ran for it. It seems like Mr. Sakata's method, even if excessively violent, was rather effective.

Mr. Sakata primarily talked to only his male classmates, with two classmates of his, Kaido Minato and Yuki Mura being his only close friends.

Kaido Minato was an ordinary looking boy, a little out of shape but not overweight, wearing rather thick glasses. His black hair and demure personality reminded her of a scared kitten.

As for the other one, he was the complete opposite. With long, silver hair that reached to his shoulders, a very thin yet muscular body, he wore a custom-made uniform that made him resemble a butler.

Yuki Mura was the tallest of the trio and apparently the strongest one as well. But above all, he was an extremely handsome boy.

When the girls whisper among each other, talking about the 'White Prince of Sacred Flower Academy', they usually meant him. Even sensei couldn't help but have her heart bump a little when looking at him.

Just a few weeks after school started, Yuki Mura became a resident celebrity, with his looks making many girls swoon. Rumors have it that he gets confessed to on a daily basis. Not just by girls, some boys too.

As for Sakae Sakata, well, he was known as the weird and angry one of the trio.

Kaido Minato was very quiet and demure; Yuki Mura was strong but polite, while Sakae Sakata was the living embodiment of vitriol.

Overall, it was very strange to see that the three of them were actually best of friends.

Reina Sensei: "What am I doing? Spying on my students….it is obvious he is not depressed, so why am I still here?"

"That's what I would like to know, sensei"

Reina Sensei: "KYA! Sakata Sakae-kun!"

Sakae: "Sakae, is fine, sensei"

Reina Sensei: "What are you…"

Her expression grew pale. What an awkward situation to be caught in.

Reina Sensei: "Did you know…."

Sakae: "That you were following me? Yep"

Reina Sensei: "Since when?"

Sakae: "Since Monday?"

Reina Sensei: "From the very beginning! Why didn't you say anything?"

Sakae: "I assumed you had your reasons, sensei. But I do not believe I have done anything wrong. I merely acted in self-defense to protect my friend"

Reina Sensei: "I know that! Wait, that's not what I mean….It's …It's about this!"

She pulled out a folded up paper from her pocket.

Just by looking at the hand-writing, Sakae immediately recognized it as the essay he submitted last week.

Sakae: "What about it?"

Reina Sensei: "Don't play dumb with me! I just want to help you, Sakae-kun. Don't cut your dreams short just because you are scared of girls!"

Sakae: "What part of becoming an astronaut is cutting my dreams short, sensei?"

Reina Sensei: "Astro….naut?"

Sakae: "Yes, I thought I made it obvious that was my current dream"

Reina Sensei: "Oh, an astronaut….ha-ha, ha…I see, it makes sense now. To go to the moon, you have to be an astronaut….Silly me…."

Reina Sensei: 'That was a close call. I must have over-reacted'

She sighed in relief. He wasn't depressed after all. When Sakae was about to leave, she said.

Reina Sensei: "I heard Sakae-kun was scared of women, but I am glad that is not the case"

Sakae: "Oh, I am scared of them"

Reina Sensei: "But you are just fine talking to me"

Sakae: "That's because sensei is not a woman. Sensei is sensei"

Saying that, he proceeded to leave. His words were like a sharp punch to the gut.

Reina Sensei: "Not a woman….I see, I am just a sensei now….not even a girl…."

She muttered while sobbing a little.

Needless to say, the poor sensei's pride as a woman took a strong hit.
