Chapter 145 - Tamer Clan

The wolf queen's body soon slumped, as it became lifeless. Its weight pulled on her head, and as she fell down, it increased the pressure on Aile's wound, causing his face to contort in pain.

Hazel chopped its body quickly, as everyone else tried to wrestle and open its jaw to let Aile free. This was with the exception of One and the scout, who were finishing off the few wolves that remained.

As Aile gritted his teeth, Hazel from one side, Two and Ellie from the other side pulled on the head of the wolf queen opening its jaw. Finally, after a few seconds of torturous pain, The head of the dead wolf queen was now separate from Aile.

Aile sighed as he checked his shoulder and seeing the multiple teeth marks that have dug into him. Fortunately, no bones were broken. He finally sighed in relieve and started to clean the wound. However, Hazel took the cloth form him, and she gently began to clean the area around his shoulder. Afterwards, she tried to remove some of his upper wear for a more thorough cleaning. However, Aile prevented her and told her that they should do this alone at a corner. His chest tattoo was too much of a giveaway, he did not want to show that to everyone here.

As Aile and Hazel went to the corner. One and the scout searched around to make sure they were safe. Ellie arrived next to Violet to comfort her as she was silently sitting there with her head facing the ground. Xue looked in Aile's direction a few time and then went towards the bridge to call the caravan, but had not made the decision and was unsure to make the call.

Aile and Hazel arrived at the corner, and after hearing his reason, she did not remove his upper wear. It only took a few minutes to clean the area around the wound. Then Aile took out a small bottle of Fiona's healing cream. Hazel started to apply it as the cooling sensation travelled around his wounds. That, along with Hazel's smooth hands, brought Aile the much-needed comfort.

Aile knew that he was going to be healed in no time now. Hazel soon brought their resting pelt. With that, Aile calmly rested as he observed the battlefield. The first person to come to him was Xue. She said, "Thank you, and I apologize, it was because of my carelessness that the wolve queen managed to stay in the offensive."

Aile shook his head and said, "None of us knew that it could disappear, it was not your fault, I am glad you are ok."

She then said if she should bring the caravan here and what were his orders. Aile told her that she could make the decision.

Xue replied, "Is this a test to me? Observing my decisions?"

Aile was about to respond when Xue noticed Hazel coming. She said in a fidgety tone, "Ok, I will deal with this, but I need to talk to you alone later when you feel better."

Aile just shrugged off Xue's unusual behaviour. Hazel asked about what happened, and Aile told her about it, she too did not find anything unusual. After all, Aile had been the group leader in the fight against the wolves, Xue's response in asking his opinion about the next step was valid.

It was not long before One arrived in front of Aile. He was carrying a small wolf pup.

He said, "Boss, it seems the queen had given birth to at least two living pups. One is dead, it seems to have been killed during the fight, and the other one is still alive. What should we do with it?"

Aile observed the small pup and noticed energy fluctuation around it. Aile examined it better and figured out that she was already absorbing the world's energy around it and another more prominent thread arriving from another place.

Aile followed the energy path with a unique ability from his Spirit Surmounting Cultivation and noticed that it was coming from the wolf queen's body and head.

"Give me the pup, and also bring the queen's head and body."

One nodded, and Aile held the fluffball. It was a beautiful pup with green iris and black and white fur. It resembled a german shepherd and a wolf, leaning towards the larger body of the wolf. After it got acclimatized on his hand and licked him a few times very cutely, it rested on his hand. Before Aile knew it, it was already in Hazel's hand, as she picked it up and stroked it. The little pup rubbed herself on to her as she petted her.

"Let's keep it," said Hazel as she looked at the beautiful eyes of the wolf.

Aile was not sure what she was receiving from the wolf queen from the thread of energy. Therefore he did not immediately agree. Hazel noticed Aile's reluctance and asked him about it. Aile explained that the pup was getting some sort of inheritance from the queen, and she too became a bit more on guard.

Soon One brought the wolf queen's body, and the thread of energy transferred to the pup quicker. At the close distance, Hazel too felt it. She sighed and said, "It is just a shame that she has to die now."

"It will be for the best to kill it, we will not know if the grudge of the queen against us will be transferred to her."

Hazel sighed, "If only there was someone from the Tamer Clan."

Aile looked at Hazel's disappointed look and then remembered the wolf queens fighting prowess.

He also recollected that, if Sara gets hurt, she too will become immobilized. Therefore having a pet was ideal for her, the pet can save her in those situations. A powerful pet that is good at hiding and quick with its reaction was the perfect answer, especially since she will be alone at times. Aile then called Hazel to come closer and touched her forehead. He transferred a taming technique to her called Seal of Submission.

The technique did not help with improving the beast it just created a master and subordinate seal and allowed for communication over a short distance.

Hazel looked with wide eyes at Aile. She then said in a stern tone, "Why... How... Aile, do not tell anyone about this. If the Tamer Clan finds out about your technique, they will hunt you. Where did you get this technique? All the taming and sealing techniques are only accessible by the academies and the Tamer Clan."

"Why? It's just a basic technique, and it is not even that complex." Aile had gotten this technique with only 3 units of energy from the Heavenly Book of Myriad Stars, and there were many more complex ones there. Aile did not want to stand out too much with a flashy technique, so he picked this. Yet it seemed even this brought such an excessive reaction to Hazel. So he looked at her to get an explanation. He was wondering why yet another common thing seemed to be a taboo in this Kingdom.

"Only four powers in the Kingdom can use the beasts. One is the Tamer Clan, two are the academies, and the last group with knowledge on beast taming is the royal family.

The Kingdom, along with the Tamer Clan, have the monopoly on the beast trade of lower levels. A high-level beast can only be earned through meritorious achievement for the Kingdom.

Only those that are given the title of Duke and above are allowed to pick a high-level beast, and the royal family will form the seal between them.

This way, the clan's can not use the beast against the Kingdom, as the sealing and taming would be broken by the caster in that case. They could also use the seal to make the beast rampage in the owner's territory.

This will ensure that the beast does not attack the royal and at the same time, prevents people from forming a close bond. As they can be considered double-edged swords.

This is because the families will not keep the beast close to them. After all, the royals could release the beast's seal and allow it to go wild if they want to lessen the prowess of a force. Therefore they are kept away from clan's populated locations, reducing the chances of the beast and man forming a close connection.

It also allows the royal family to keep a hold on the people. Therefore your technique will make you a traitor to the Kingdom as it is against their interest. Do not show this technique or you will be hunted by the royals and the Tamer Clan. It will also attract people from the White clan as they are on the opposite side of the royals and they will come for your technique."

Aile sighed, it seems that using the Book of Heavenly Myriad Stars came with too much of a drawback if one does not want to be highlighted. He asked her if having a tamed beast all together will be a problem or just the process of forming a connection with it. Hazel said, "Having a beast is not a problem. However, the female wolf was probably not a Lunar Wolf. But something much stronger and from its invisibility skill, informative people could identify it as a strong beast not owned by a Duke, royalty or a person from an academy."
