Chapter 193 - Hazel's plan

The door opened, and she heard the voice of Marcus, Hunter, Duke White's eldest son, and some other higher-ups of the White Clan's forces here. The conversation in the next 45 minutes revolved around their plan dealing with the royal side. Followed by their trade deals with Moon Merchant Union and the news that the Sun Merchant Union was changing ownership and name. While the topics were not of much interest to Violet, she needed to stay vigilant as to not make a mistake and give herself away. Yet she also heard that there were possible plans against Moon Merchant Union and Aile's mansion, that were there as a backup.

She would not want anything happening to the people that saved her. They had done nothing against the White Clan, yet these old fogies were prepared to go to war against them and had readied plans to take everything from them.

Nonetheless, she could not do anything about it, she would talk with Hunter about it later in hopes of convincing him otherwise. She was also thinking about making sure to tell Aile and Ellie to stay away for a while. Then she thought about One, Two, Three, Four, Xue and Hazel and decided that they too should be saved. Nonetheless, her heart started to get a little distant feeling these people's behaviours.

Then slowly the people started to leave, leaving Marcus, Duke's White eldest son and Hunter in the room. They discussed some more confidential-plans when Marcus too left. This left the Duke's son with Hunter. After some casual chatting. He brought the conversation to Violet. He asked why he has not seen her?

Hunter told him that she was not in Port Kiar and missing since the attack. The Duke's son was hinting that it was not the case. After a few backs and forth, he demanded to meet her as soon as she arrives. Duke White's eldest son also warned Hunter to make sure she does not become romantically involved. Hunter tactfully diverted the topic, but he said, "What do you think will be better. Violet becoming my bed warmer when I become the White Clan's leader or her accepting me now and have the status of a high ranking concubine? Do not worry, I know she is close to Ellie, I will not keep them separate, she and her friend both will be together. After all, I prefer everyone to get along with me and each other." Haha, "It is hard finding two beauties without rivalry between them. You have been with my father and even are aware of things from long ago. You should receive a better position closer to the leader. I had such plans, a single mistake, and you could find Marcus becomes your superior later. Low-status people have it hard protecting their people." The Duke's son, clearly hinting that should Violet marry him, Hunter would gain a better position in the White Clan side and if he does not a worse place.

"It is still a long way until the Duke retires. Who knows what will happen? Until then, you are just a junior, and you should be careful of what you say? Perhaps I will discipline you in front of everyone, and you can forget about the leadership position."

Humph, "You can touch the elders, but I am the crowned patriarch. As if I would fall for your provocation. While it is true, I can not do anything to you now. Violet heard the conversation, and she realized that Hazel and Ellie were right. It would be inevitable for her to get married to that bastard if she remains here. Hunter could not stop that bastard, and even more so she was worried that he might agree. This is because Hazel told her that large families break such decision with a joke for the first time. Followed by discussions about the match before agreeing in the end without one's consent.

Hunter has already asked her opinion about such a match she had rejected. If what Hazel said is the truth and so far she has been accurate with everything she has said. She knows that the next step will be a forced engagement.

Hazel had told her to confirm everything. Once she makes a choice, she should meet her to gain the freedom to choose her own future. As much as she did not consider such a thing before, after hearing the conversation between Hunter and the Duke's son, she was more inclined to believe Hazel. So Violet waited for everyone to leave before making her decision. She went to her room, found her maid, gave her a gold coin and told her to leave. Being smart enough to understand her meaning, the maid left thinking that someone powerful was eyeing her. She then packed the important things to her and wrote a message for Hunter. Knowing that if he knew of her departure, he would have stopped her.

She did not claim the reason for departure to be that she knows her future fate. But she blamed it on the terrible plague that has affected the White Clan's headquarter and how the women are mistreated. The weak guards are treated worst then servants and inhumanly. The one with backing are also annoyed and pushed into submission. Violet claimed that she will return once she finds this place hospitable again. This way, Hunter would just think of it as her throwing a fit after seeing the other darker face of their force. This was Hazel's plan to extract her without raising too many alarms.
