Chapter 31 day before trial (1/2)

Jerry, as was his name, crouched on the dusty ground in his basement, working out his final thoughts. In his heart, he had resigned himself to an unescapable fate of being thrown into a dungeon;a prison of the ancient man. What plagues his determined mind is the thought of it all, not how unfair the world is or it's uncertainty but the loss of physical freedom that he has to endure for the upcoming time period. He enjoyed this momentary chaos in his mind, because he can indulge endlessly and come to terms with the fear and surprises that will approach at him left and right while not being in that situation.

Then again, everything life does is for its survival. Back in his world, the only way for his species to survive beyond physiological instincts was genetic immortality or societal integration. That's why those that didn't integrate into society were often ostracized by the counterparts and concurrent population, the society that bullied them only did so because they were straying away from the evolved path of immortality and were seen as the kind of people that would subvert the established rules of nature and would end their future. This had been the case in his past world.

As for this world, he saw a new path. After long illegal research by the standards of his previous world, he discovered something amazing. A mind beyond the universe, this hypothesis was conducted via a small experiment whereby he had gone with the hunting group and decided to hold onto the criminals while others do the important work. Since the rest of the group got free labor in form of a guard, they left him with the chained up criminals and a key while they went to visit the brothel. No one cares about them anymore as he got his first human experiments and went to his lab. As for morality and ethics, he decided to not do anything that would haunt him and that's as far as he could go.

Thereafter, he decided to be a vigilante and punish these evildoers on "behalf of the heaven", while getting a little commission out of it. He tied some of them on the bed made of extreme ice Qi that he had made previously made and put ice cold salty water in their veins. This reduced their brain temperature to ten degrees Celsius but it didn't damage them. Once he was done doing that with every subject , he shouted an ultimatum to them. He brought out a box containing some stuff but it was completely locked, no one could see it. He told them whoever can tell him what was in this box would be let go and given freedom while those who didn't would be transferred to carry out other experiments. The group of criminals tied to the bed was shivering and confused as to how this would be possible since the box is covered and they felt that the weird machines that were attached to their chests and hands were slowly freezing them to death.

Slowly in their confusion, they slowed their brain thinking and darkness occupied their sights until they all died. Once that happened, he quickly opened the box and revealed the contents inside. There was a wooden toy shaped like a giraffe, a blue stone, a four clover leaf and other weird assortment that no one can think of. He even carried those devices and put them in front of their faces, and waved them in-front of their dead bodies with as much speed as he could master. Of course such a thing was practically impossible but he had the help of his trusted sidekick slash chef that just watched him like one would to a lunatic. After 25 seconds, he gave Xi Baobao the signal while latter shook his head and pull a lever. As soon as that was done, on top of each person's bed, a white stone that was sparking dropped on top of them and they were electrocuted and shook like an epileptic patient's episode. The white stones bounced off their bodies due to the shaking and fell on the ground. As always, when the patients started to wake up each with confusion, a dark cloud appeared on top the mountain and red overbearing thunder appeared on top of the entire mountain. It always immediately disappeared. At first, this was strange to him but he later realized that somehow, in a ridiculous way, the freakin heavens were displeased with his experiments. Of course he later figured out that the so called heavens can't really harm him since he's a mortal and technically confirms to the rules of heaven with the whole mortal strength and lifespan. This loophole gave him leeway to carry out any kind of weird experiments that were previously unimaginable in the last month, such as this one.

Once the prisoners awoken, one passed away but somehow he didn't care. It seems he has to look into that numbness later as it didn't seem normal. For those who woke up, some were confused but it seems there was only negligible damage to their brains. He asked them to list whatever was in the box and they seemed confused by the ridiculous question until they remembered their task. Some lied, some admitted the truth that they don't know while other recalled some fuzzy memories and listed what they remember. After the results were out. He left the room with Xi Baobao to discuss the implications of this results. The chef didn't care much at first.

"But Jerry, what exactly was that experiment about? You almost killed everyone in the room just to wave strange objects in their faces. Honestly I'm starting to think that the fear is getting to you. We only had one day left before your imprisonment and this is what you wasted it on? I think we should be discussing on how you escape your fate rather than this....craziness."

"Baobao my friend, it seems you also misunderstand me. Do you really think that was pointless? Ok, say that after you have seen what's in my hands. I have taught you how to read research materials rights? What do you think I was doing?"
