Smacked By A Painting

The forest was eerily quiet. Lin Ke was walking back the way he came with Lily floating besides him.

"Should we try to catch some animals for food tonight?" Lin Ke asked Lily.

"Mmm. That would be a good idea." Lily replied. "However, how are you going to catch one? You can't even hit a tree with a bow…"

"... Okay… I hit it in the end okay?"

"Not before you shot the first few to Narnia…"

"Yeah, but I got better! That was my first shot."

'No thanks, I bet you'll accidentally hit me with it."

"Yeah? How is that possible? You won't be standing anywhere near the front of the bow!"

"Still…"

Then, Lin Ke heard a rustling in one of the tall bushes around 20 feet away from him. Glancing over, Lin Ke saw a wolf-like creature lurking about. It looked at Lin Ke warily, as if debating whether or not he was a tasty dish.

The moment Lin Ke made eye contact with the wolf, it slowly began to approach him, ready to rip him to shreds.

Lily!" Lin Ke immediately shouted.

Lily looks on.. Taking a second to think about what she should do. Suddenly, it struck her.

"Good luck, Lin Ke! Fight this one out yourself!" She said happily.

Lin Ke feels a heavy object drop in front of him. Looking at it, Lin Ke sees… a painting?

Dumbfounded, Lin Ke stares at the painting. It was the painting he painted earlier, the first one he painted. According to Lily, even though it isn't on the level of B-class, it was darn close.

However, Lin Ke doesn't know what the point of her bringing it out now was.

At this point, the beast was getting closer and closer.

"What are you doing? Stop staring into space! Pick up your weapon and fight!" Lily called.

Speechless, Lin Ke turns to Lily. "Are you alright in the head? Did your mother drop you when you were in the litter??? Fight? WEAPON? That's a freaking PAINTING! Usually people use SWORDS! You gave me a PAINTING! What am I supposed to do? Smack it on top of its head till it dies from brain trauma???"

Lily nods her head in a matter of factly way. "It's a weak beast! You can do it! Oh, watch out!"

Lin Ke turns back right in time to see the wolf pouncing on him. It was only a few feet away, and in a few seconds, it would sink its teeth into Lin Ke's tasty flesh.

Without any other choice, Lin Ke picks up the painting with two hands, holding it out to the side, sort of like a baseball bat.

Lin Ke had very little contact with sports in his past life. He was your typical nerdy kid, the ones that didn't participate in clubs and went straight home after school. Of course, he earned a lot more than your typical nerd, but nevertheless, he was still one. He was never super athletic.

With the wolf so close to him, Lin Ke's instincts kicked in, causing him to swing the painting in a wide arc.

*CRUNCH*

A very, VERY bad sounding crunch rang out as Lin Ke felt the painting make contact with the body of the wolf.

The wolf, which was smacked straight in the head, flew back quite a distance, landing on the ground, unable to move.

Lin Ke stares on, slightly stupified by the scene.

"What? How did I just…???" Lin Ke was genuinely confused as to what happened. He had felt that the wolf was extremely ferocious looking, and would probably gobble him up in three seconds.

"Ooooh! Ding Ding Ding! Home run! Contestant Lin Ke knocks out his opponent with one swing of his powerful weapon! Perfect score!" Lily claps her paws together joyfully talking about the scene.

"Lily? How did I take it down so easily?" Lin Ke asked, slightly confused.

"Well… That beast was an extremely low leveled beast, probably the lowest of the low… Plus, you have a pretty decent cultivation level, meaning that you're stronger than what you'd probably believe." Lily explained.

"Hmmmm… I guess you're right…" Lin Ke admits. He had managed to smack a wolf to death in one hit. That couldn't be explained by anything other than what Lily had said.

Walking up to the wolf, Lin Ke bends down to put it into his spatial storage space. Looking at it, Lin Ke feels a little odd. He had never killed an animal himself before, and he didn't really know how to feel about it.

Suddenly, in that slight moment of hesitation, the wolf sprung up, swiping at Lin Ke's neck.

"Ah!" Lin Ke cried in surprise.

Then came a fast whistling sound, and with a thud, the wolf was no longer in front of Lin Ke.

Looking over at the direction the wolf flew, Lin Ke saw a wooden arrow sticking out of the side of the wolf's neck. It was nailed to a tree and looked extremely dead now.

"Lin Ke! Are you okay?" Lin Ke hears a voice which he hasn't heard in what seemed like ages.

Looking over, Lin Ke sees the one, the only, the heavenly beauty, Lia. She had her bow in hand and was looking a little surprised at bumping into Lin Ke here. A light pink tint appears on her cheeks.

"Why're you here? I thought you were going to fix the teleportation formation? Lia asked.

"I did… I fixed it already and I was going to head back. Then I got jumped by this wolf." Lin Ke explains. Looking at the wolf, Lin Ke is still slightly in shock by how quickly those series of events just occurred.

"Oh, you fixed it already?" Lia says in a surprised fashion. She had heard about how difficult it was to create teleportation arrays and how difficult it was to fix them, so she was shocked that Lin Ke had managed to fix it in under a day.

"Yeah… It should be ready in a day or two apparently."

Lia looks at Lin Ke, making sure that he wasn't hurt anywhere. After confirming he was fine, Lia walks over to the wolf and puts it into her spatial storage space. "We can eat this for dinner." She says.

"Mm. Let's head back." Lin Ke agrees.

Lily, who had been watching the scene on the sideline flies over and plops herself into Lia's hands. Lia was all too willing to hold Lily and Lily jumping into her arms only made a smile blossom of Lia's face.

As the sky darkened, Lia and Lin Ke walked back to the cave, side by side. Each of them, with their own thoughts on their mind.
