Telling Her The Entire Story

Lia sat there, frozen in shock at the story Lin Ke had just told her. Yes, it was so ludicrous that if someone else had told her it, and the situation wasn't this dire, Lia would have definitely chuckled and complimented their storytelling and imagination. However, Lin Ke had a dead serious expression on his face, and the entire time, the things he said were extremely detailed.

"... and that's how we managed to escape the Serxe guy." Finally, after almost 2 hours of continuous speaking, Lin Ke had told Lia almost everything. The only thing he left out was how Lily was a "system" but instead just said she was a companion. Sighing deeply, Lin Ke feels as though a giant weight had been lifted off his chest.

"I… You're from another world? Wow! That's amazing!" Lia says, trying to wrap her head around it. Frowning deeply, Lia thinks about all the mind boggling things she had just heard.

"Wait, you believe me?" Lin Ke asks, quite surprised. He was half expecting Lia to just laugh at him and call him delusional or something.

Lia nods her head slowly. For some reason, this story feels awfully familiar.. Then, it occurred to her. It occurred to her where she had heard something similar before.

Back then, in a conversation she had with her grandfather a long, long time ago. A conversation back when she was very young…

"Grandpa, grandpa! Tell me a story!" A young energetic voice calls.

Into the room runs a small young girl, with her hair braided up into an intricate ponytail. Her face still contained traces of baby fat, making her seem extra cute. Her eyes were glowing bright, exuding the innocence of adolescence. Each of her actions were carefree, without the slightest constraint of worldly matters. Joyfully, she ran into the room and leapt into the man's lap.

"Haha, my dear! Grandpa still has work to do!" The man laughs, pinching the child's face gently.

The girl pouts, putting on an expression of anger. "Hn! Grandpa! You said you would tell me another story!!! Not fair! Not fair, not fair!"

Looking at the adorable expression of the girl's face, the man's heart melts. Giving way, he concedes. "Alright, alright! I'll tell you a quick one okay?"

In a matter of milliseconds, the young girl's expression changed from one of disappointment and anger to one of excitement. "Really? Okay!"

The man nods. "Of course! BUT! When I finish telling you the story, you can't bother Grandpa until he finishes his work, okay?"

Hearing his statement, the child nods quickly in agreement. "Mm! Okay, Grandpa! I promise!"

The man nods in satisfaction. Sitting the girl on his lap, he began his story.

"A long, long time ago, there was a world… A whole new world, one completely different from ours. It had beautiful lights, beautiful man made structures, and was super peaceful. Everyone lived out their life, doing whatever they wanted to do, without having to cultivate. They all lived short lives, but their lives were full of color." The man began.

"Even though they were not as strong as we are, they were much more creative, much more advanced. Using their brains, they created ways to protect themselves from others, ways to make themselves stronger…"

The young girl listened intently, fully absorbed in the storytelling.

"However, because they had all these weapons, they used them to hurt others, to expand their own land. This coupled with all the hateful, negative emotions of these human beings, led to war. They fought and they fought, using weapons that could destroy their world and ruin the lives of many. Each time they fought, many many people died." The man says.

The young girl frowns and interrupts. "Grandpa? Why do people have to die? If they just didn't fight, wouldn't everyone be happy?"

The man stops and looks at the cute little girl with a kind expression. Rubbing her head, he says. "Dear, the world is more complex than that. Some people want to fight, because they aren't satisfied. Their greed drags more and more people down with them. When that happens, no one can stop them."

"Oh…" The little girl frowns, nodding along as if understanding what he had just said.

Seeing the feign understanding on his granddaughter's face, the man continues his story.

"Well, after many wars, some between smaller forces, with a few clashes between everyone in the world, it finally reached a point of no return. Many of the clans developed a new type of weapon, more destructive than anything else before. In order to protect themselves from other clans, they built more and more of these weapons. Each of them had enough to blow up the world many many times over."

"Of course, no one would use it under normal circumstances, but then something happened. In a ruin somewhere, someone discovered a small ancient relic. The moment it was exposed to air, it opened up a small spatial crack between our two worlds. Of course, the crack was small, and soon faded away. However, there were a few people who managed to get through. Then…"

*Knock knock knock* The sound of knocking interrupts the man's story.

"Master Sal? The Artist Guild Master is here to see you." A voice calls.

Hearing that, the man stands up. "Alright dear, I'll continue the story some other time, I have to go do work now."

"Okay Grandpa…" The little girl says in a sad voice. "I want to know what happens after though…"

However, the girl doesn't throw a fit, and watches her grandpa leave the room.

As the memory flashes by, Lia couldn't help but smile at her own actions. She couldn't recall many other details from that conversation, but the rough outline was there.

"D-do you want to go back to your world?" Lia asks Lin Ke softly.

"Well… I don't know. I was just thrown into this world, you know? Plus, my parents probably think that I'm dead and all… I... I don't think there is a way back… So I think I'm stuck in this world." Lin Ke says after thinking about it for a while.

Lia looks at Lin Ke intently, before nodding her head, as if understanding something. She gets up from the side of the bed, and says to Lin Ke, "I'll go get you some food."

Walking out of the room and closing the door behind her, Lia thinks about Lin Ke's answer to her question. When she asked him the question, she was waiting with bated breath, hoping he would say no. Deep down, she knew it was selfish, but she couldn't help it. For some reason, some reason even unknown to her, Lin Ke not being happy in this place and wanting to leave pained her deeply.

However, in the end, Lin Ke didn't answer the question. In the end, all he said was whether he COULD or could not. In the end, he didn't provide an answer. However, at this point, probably not even Lin Ke himself knew the answer to that question.
