The Next morning, Kai was up before the sun had risen. He started his daily work out and began to retrain himself in the Cosmic Shattering Spear and basic martial arts. In his previous life, though he was strong and displayed phenomenal skill, even he had cracks in his foundation. This time, he will do better.
At the crack of dawn, Mikoto arrived on the training grounds where Kai was cultivating. "Kai, you started without me," she said.
"Mmm. You were sleep and I was restless" he replied.
"When do we start training?" she asked as she sat in his lap disturbing his concentration
"Right now. We start with physical exercises. We will gradually collect what we need to help our growth." Kai opens his eyes and smiles at Mikoto. "This is a new life, my love. We will live it better than our last."
"Yes Yes. We will live our best life."
" Come on let's get you started…"
Kai started Mikoto with her training. And it was beyond anything she had ever undertaken. They worked until their bodies were sore and nearly done for. Later that day. Kai worked on learning more about inscriptions, Alchemy, and naturally dead languages --Without them, his learning would hit a dead end.
In the dead of night, Kai, Ryuji, Satoshi, and Yoshi cataloged all that they found. Everything that Kai could remember from Akasha's memories was recorded. If he didn't recognize something, he would turn to the writings from empires long gone.
One of the greatest treasures from their haul was the Abstruse gems made into rings, bracelets, and necklaces. These gems increased the wearer's cultivation speed by three times and lessened the damage to their foundation.
They also found soul stones for gold rank cultivators. Elemental jade equipment, soul mirrors, Demon spirits, Stones of light, and so on. The cataloging went on for two months until they made it through everything.
During those two months, Kai's routine only increased in intensity. Kai did his best to focus on Mikoto and her training as well, but she often lost out to his drive for progress. Thankfully, even without the Old Titan within her stirring the wheel, Mikoto had a fire in here that wouldn't lose out to anyone. She worked hard and tirelessly to improve.
Kai had finally discovered the right combination of Inscriptions to created what he theorized to be a weighted inscription. The Inscription could be altered to increase the total mass of the band. Mikoto and Kai placed bands on their limbs and torso to add weight for their training.
Around the clan, clansmen were moving to and fro gathering materials for clan repairs and expansion. They were also gathering food and drink to prepare for the end of the year clan assembly. It was a time when everyone gathered and celebrated another year of life. It was a time when the patriarch would address the current state of the clan. And this year, was an assembly that all looked forward to.
-------------
"Settle Down. Settle Down. Close the doors. The end of the year clan assembly shall begin!" Yoshi's voice boomed and the noise in the hall died down.
The clansmen of the Ashikaga clan looked at the ruling family. At the head of the hall, Yoshi, Ryuji, Satoshi, and Kai sat. The elders sat at the first table along with Mikoto, Sachiko --Kai's mother, and Yumena --Mikoto's mother.
Satoshi had risen from his chair and looked over the hall before addressing everyone.
"Welcome," He said. "To another annual clan assembly. Usually, we talk of debts and kin's struggle to break through bottlenecks. We speak of Demon Beast hordes and predict the future of the clan."
People nodded as Satoshi spoke, silently agreeing with him.
"This year will be different. We will not talk about debts. They will be paid in full. We will not talk of bottlenecks, they will be broken. We will not talk of Demon beast hordes, we've lost too many kin already. And we will not predict the future, we will create it." Satoshi spoke big words to his clansmen and many questioned the legitimacy of such words.
"And how will any of this be done?" asked a clansman.
Satoshi smiled " By following a three-year plan that has been put in motion by my nephew and heir, Kai…" Satoshi looked to Kai.
Kai stood up and straightened his plain but well-tailored robes before speaking.
"This past week I planned an expedition to a ruined city that caught my interest on an ancient map. It was a plentiful harvest. Enough to get the clan on solid ground, no more. That means we have to use it wisely and put the treasure to reasonable investments. That's where the three-year plan comes in. Before we start, are there any objections to me being regent over this project"
Kai waited for the voice of conflict to emerge but like his father, grandfather, and uncle stood up behind him. No one dared to object.
"That's good. I understand that I lack the age and it is extremely uncommon for such things to happen. But I have the...knowledge, needed to make this project a success. But I can not nor would I dare do it without all of you. Fate put me in this clan but what I do while I'm here is my choice and I choose to see each and every one of you enjoy a happier and healthier life. Would you all like to hear my plan?" Kai asked it took a moment for people to noded and voice their desire to hear him out
Kai held up and read from a sheet of paper " Sayo! Please stand" he said.
A woman with jet black hair and ice-blue eyes stood up and answered, "Yes, young lord?"
"You were in charge of the architectural drawing for the clan repairs and remodeling. Stay standing. Long Fei…" A grey-haired man stood "You have been with the clan for 45 years as our blacksmith. Stay standing… This clan has no alchemists or inscriptionist. Ashikaga Mei."
A young woman with long white hair that fell below her butt rose next. "You were in charge of gathering all of the clan archives and artifacts. You will be working with me for the duration of the project. Sayo, you will be in charge of all of the remodeling, Long Fei you will train five apprentices for the clan, money isn't a problem… But all purchases must be approved by the main house...
Ladies and Gentlemen these three are the project leaders. Everything they say is to be obeyed. This three-year plan will focus on the clan. First, we rebuild. When the compound is strong. We will take the young generations of the clan and bring them back here from the academy. The material will be gathered to increase our aid in their cultivation. Everyone else will focus on cultivation. Not just soul force but martial skill as well…
Herb gardens will be planted. Alchemists will be hired to teach some, inscription masters will come to teach others. The three-year plan is simple, progress. More details will be put to specific people for specific tasks. If you are not working you will be cultivating. And cultivation will be monitored to assure compliance. Our clan has declined, by that will be corrected and the treasure trove that is our clan legacies will be utilized again."
Things changed after that night. The next day, the clan began repairing the compound and working on all of the improvement under Sayo's command. Long Fei had found five apprentices and had been gathering raw material for the future. The alchemist guild was contracted and the few inscription masters they could find were hired and brought to the compound. With Ashikaga Mei, Kai began studying the broken artifacts left behind by their clan ancestors, while cataloging others, in a language that all of his kin could read.
After the first year, the compound was fortified and expanded. All of the younger kin were pulled from the Holy Orchid Institute and returned home. With the first harvest of herbs and crops being stored. Long Fei had continued to relentlessly train his apprentices and the alchemy and inscription students were progressing nicely.
By the end of the second year, the cultivation of the clansmen were growing with breakthroughs into the bronze and silver ranks. Many people with weak soul realms were never considered worth training so they were never sent to school to cultivate. Kai understood from memory that the Legend rank was just the beginning and a rank that even commoners should be able to achieve in the higher realms. So Kai pumped resources into everyone.
By the end of the third year, the inscription and alchemy students were already practicing their craft and producing decent products but continued to work for better improvements. In order to justify their money, the clan sold unused herbs to the alchemist association and a few inscriptions that Kai translated to Glory City. But the real source of income came from the treasure haul in Ancient Orchid City.
Kai now sat in his clan hall with the elders and disclosed his latest findings with them all. A disclosure that would call for money to be spent. According to the plan, Kai wrote. Each year had a budget cap. Though, with this new knowledge, Kai new that the cap would have to be broken. As such, it was his duty to call a meeting and operate by his own rules that currently governed the clan.
"I found something from the Saint Spirit Empire Era. According to my readings, if we use fresh and unused soul gems, We can reevaluate the clan. We can get their soul force, form, and attribute. That information will allow us to find cultivation techniques better suited for them and expedite their cultivation progress."
The elders, Ryuji, Yoshi, and Satoshi were all shocked by this information. They even thought of themselves and wondered if they had been practicing damaging cultivation techniques their entire life.
"1st elder. Go and halt all cultivation immediately. The more they progress, the more their foundations become unrepairable."
"At once." The 1st elder bowed and speed off to issue the decree.
"Kai. Do you know how to match the proper cultivation techniques with information the gems provide?" Satoshi asked.
"Yes, Uncle. Between the plethora of cultivation techniques collecting dust in Glory City, I'll match every clansman properly, ten times over. And now the language of the ancestors is with me. I can start reading the old text and find techniques from the higher realm, not to mention those that float in mind. All I need is the approval to purchase what we need." Kai replied with complete confidence.
"Do what you must. Cultivation won't resume until we have a fresh soul gem for every clansman." Yoshi declared and put the matter to bed.
Over the past three years. Mikoto and Kai hadn't been cultivating just soul force, they had also been strengthening their bodies and practicing on dummies with Iron inscriptions. Kai wanted to harden their bones like he had when he practiced on Ironwood trees.
When their bodies became as strong as it possibly could, they began to use body cultivation techniques to help in further strengthening. But due to their Titan blood, their strength and durability were leagues ahead of the humans in Glory City.
Kai discovered that their blood was somehow purified to that of a pure-blooded Titan. This gave them special traits like many nonhuman species. Like their healing abilities and mental buff. Strength and constitution, They were also built bigger than most and were well endowed. Most of the Ashikaga clan had less than fifty percent of their titan lineage. But for the pure-blooded, Mikoto and Kai, they already stood as tall as 5 feet and 7 inches tall at the age of eight years old.
The two lovers constantly spared to improve their martial form. At eight years old, Mikoto and Kai were now carrying around 3000 pounds of weight with ease.
Currently, Kai was sealed in a Space Time lock that slowed the time on the inside of his study. The current time ratio was limited by his power but it did give him an extra day to every day.
In that study, Kai learned languages from every era that Glory city had on record. He learned many things about alchemy and inscriptions that would easily make commoner clan legendary.
He also learned many things he thought to be nonessential but he retained it all. After three long years of reading through the Clan Archives. Kai discovered that his ancestor was once known as the Sky Origin Divine Clan. The Ashikagas were just one family out of thirteen within the clan. Along with that knowledge, Kai discovered a total of thirty-six powerful divine cultivation techniques for his clan.
With his knowledge, he worked each and every technique until they were completed to the best of his abilities. Each technique was extremely profound, but Kai managed with Akasha's memories. But his biggest disappointment was the half-destroyed array technique that he couldn't finish.
Grabbing all of the cultivation techniques, Kai rushed to the main hall as it was once again the end of the year assemble. He weaved his way through the crowd and took his seat next to his father. And like the past the years. Kai leads the Assembly as Regent.
"Okay, let's get to business. We have a lot to do" he said. "The three-year plan was a success. I see more fighters and the improvement of cultivation. The compound is immaculate and the crops put out great wields--"
"Thanks to your intelligence, Lord Kai" a voice shouted and many joyously agreed.
Kai had read about growing techniques from the sacred Empire Era and used fertilizer that double the crops and grew better quality herbs and food. He also pulled an array from Akasha's memories that allowed the crops to grow year-round.
Kai smiled and waved them off " The blacksmiths are getting better. The alchemist and Inscriptionist aren't far behind. As you all know the masters of both fields have been sent away and all the new text provided to you all will be held as clan secrets straight from the archives. They are our legacies alone. Let's keep it that way. Now for the good news. I have completed the mending of the cultivation techniques that were damaged. Unfortunately, we're still in the process of acquiring soul gems for everyone. When that happens, cultivation will resume."
The crowd moaned and groaned.
"But tonight I will be checking your physiques. But First, it is time that you all here the complete story of your ancestors and learn who you are...Who I am."
Kai went on to tell the clan the story of the progenitors and the creation of the Titan Sect. The ascension of the Progenitors and the fall the Titans at the hands of the Sage Emperor and his silver tongue. Kai finished with his identity as the Akasha's incarnate and Mikoto as Shreya's incarnate.
For an hour in a half after that. Kai read the Physiques of his kin and recorded possible cultivation techniques for them. One of the requirements for the Sky Origin Divine Techniques to be safely cultivated was Physique. When he was finished, Kai orders a year of closed-door training on a 2-month cycle to maintain the compound. It started with just martial training and then Soulforce cultivation when all the soul gems were purchased and new cultivation techniques were issued.
Not everyone could practice clan techniques. It became another problem on his list to fix.
---------------------------------------------------
During the next year. Kai would practice alchemy and inscription whenever he had free time. Martial training was doubled to keep up with his cultivation technique, The Tyrannical Cosmic War Technique, that was created by Akasha, the Titan progenitor himself. He even gave Mikoto a cultivation technique created by the Titan within her, The Primordial Star-fire technique. Unlike Kai, Mikoto wasn't properly assimilated with Titan progenitor within her, so she lacked Shreya's memories.
The only time Kai stepped out of his room was to handle business. Like the day the Alchemist Association appeared at the Gates of the Ashikaga Clan.
