Anaiya and Andre arrived at Ben's Bagels in Brooklyn. It was a hole in the wall type of place, it was crowded nosy, and small. There was always a line to order that sometimes reached around the corner. However, today it was pretty peaceful there were even places to sit.

Anai'ya's stomach rumbled loudly making her want to hide under a rock as it was loud enough for the people around her to hear. Her face turned beet red and her eyes trailed downwards in embarrassment.

Andre smiled dotingly and squeezed her shoulder before helping her sit on a booth by the window facing the busy street.

"I'll go order." He walked to the counter and waited in the cue.

Anai'ya was busy looking at the pedestrian's hustle and bustle from one end of the street to the other. Although it was Saturday morning and most places of work were closed it didn't stop the morning hustlers. Staring at the high buildings and small shops in view a small smile formed on her lips.

She loved the busy streets, it brought the city to life. Watching men and women walk by: some in a hurry others just strolling along the sidewalk gave her a small sense of belonging. Quiet, lonely places made her skin crawl. Past traumas made her afraid of silence.

Losing herself in her thoughts she didn't realize when Andre came back. Her eyes had a sparkle in them as a small enchanting smile danced on her pretty lips. Her chin rested on her hand tilting it sideways making the rays of sunshine fall on one half of her face making her look angelic.

Andre didn't disturb her instead he sat there and watched her. It was rare to see her this way, there was always an expressionless look in her eyes her face was always rigid and cold. Only on the few occasions she would smile or flirt with him would her facial expression change.

This was the girl he had fallen in love with all those years ago. Her face hadn't changed much, it had only matured and blossomed into even more breathtaking features. Time was her friend, the heavens were in her favor. He felt extremely lucky to have her in his life.

Feeling an intense stare coming from across the table Anai'ya raised her eyes meeting those dark pupils that reflected her face in them. The deep emotions swirling in them made her uneasy, he didn't care to hide them. She schooled her expression subconsciously clenching her jaw. Having the sudden urge to leave his line of vision to breathe without his eyes trailing her every move she shifted her body to lean back in her seat.

"I have something to ask you." She said peering at him from the corner of her eye as she looked at the bustling street.

"Mmm"

"Would you leave everything behind in this world and start over someplace new?"

He pondered her question.

"Mmm...I'm not sure." His eyes flickered with curiosity at her random question.

"What if... what if I wanted to do just that?" She probed.

Startled, Andre stared intently at her.

"It's just a thought. What if one day I grow tired of this life? It's a lot of handle.." she sighed, her voice weary and withered.

"Then stop. You don't have to feel tired if you stop working." Andre said.

"Mmmm that's true.."

Andre felt something amiss with her sudden question but he didn't dwell on it too much. He reached over and grabbed her hand that rested on the table, holding her soft palm in his large warm one. His fingers traced the lines in them. They sank into silence each of them preoccupied with their own thoughts.
