Preparation

<4th November 2083>

The next day, Ravi woke up early in the morning as usual. Unlike every other day, today he is very busy. He packed all the academic papers and property-related papers in a suitcase. After packing all the necessary papers he went to take a shower. He took the shower in a few minutes and wore the formal dress that he used for going to college. After that, he quickly took his breakfast that the cook robot just made and went out of his house without calling for Rickie.

Today he didn't feel like calling Rickie, so he quietly left the house. He saw a taxi nearby and waved his hand for calling it. Though his college is not that far but for the last time, he wanted to ride on a taxi and go to his college. It took him 2 minutes to reach the college. After paying the fair he went inside.

"Isn't he Ravi, sir? This is my first seeing him using a cab for coming to college." One of Ravi's students just said that to his classmate.

"Yeah, it is my first time too. I guess he is not that much of a cheapskate. "

"Ha ha ha....."

Both students chuckled and went inside.

Like every other day, today he didn't go to the academic staff room but to the principal's office.

"May I come in, Sir?"

" Oh, Teacher Ravi. Yes, please come in. What brings you here in this early morning?" The principal said.

"Well, the thing is, I want to submit a resignation letter," Ravi said nervously.

Hearing this the principal baffled, he didn't expect that he would come here to resign. He couldn't find out any reason for him to resign. So, he asked Ravi,

"May I know the reason for your resigning? As far as I know, this job is the most ideal job for a graduate like you and the pay is good enough."

"Sir, I am not resigning for another job or anything like that. The thing is, I am going back to my home country and planning to settle there and never come back to U.S." Ravi lied.

"Oh.... is that so. Then I have nothing to say. Give me that resignation paper and I'll sign it for you"

After submitting the paper, he went to the academic office. He called his colleagues and office staff and told them about the resigning. All of them bade him goodbye and wish for his happiness in the future.

Then, one of his colleagues called him outside of the room and said,

"So, the machine is finally complete, huh?"

It was his colleague and a good friend, Hamid. He is the only one who knew about the research beside Rickie.

"Yes, it is. Yesterday, we ran the trial and it went pretty smoothly. So, I was hoping to resign from the school so that anyone wouldn't look out for me if I would disappear from this world." Ravi said.

"Are you really going to do that? Won't you reconsider your decision? Now, you are enjoying a good life, just marry a woman and you'll be settled. God knows, what will happen if you cross the dimension." Hamid tried to persuade Ravi.

"I know, as per your advice I can live a peaceful and slow life. But, there is something amiss. Yeah, I can lead a good life but I always feel that my inside is empty and I am just a shell-like something is stolen from me."

"Hmm...i can understand, it can't be reversed that has happened. But, let me tell you something, whatever you do or end up doing be happy in life. Then, good luck with that."

"Thanks, man."

"Hey, what about Rickie, what will happen to him if you are gone"

"He has grown up, and I will leave all my money and that villa to him. He is a talented boy, so he will find a good job in the future. Oh...and one more thing, Please take care of my funeral when I'm dead, Rickie can't handle it alone. So, I have to ask you." Ravi pleaded.

"What are you saying man, you don't have to worry."

"Yeah, sorry for the inconvenience. Then, I'll be off. I also have to go to the classroom to convey my goodbyes to the students. "

"Yeah, off you go."

Ravi then went towards his classroom and entered the class in stoic expression. Usually, he goes to class with a book in his hands. But, today he didn't bring a book with him. The students were wondering why their teacher didn't bring any book. They thought that their teacher wouldn't teach them today and they were pretty happy inwardly but didn't say anything any of him. Their teacher first spoke to them.

"Hello, students. How are you all? " Ravi couldn't say the first thing to the students about his resignation.

"We are fine, Sir. What about you?"

"I am also fine."

"Are you not going to teach us today, Sir? " One of the students asked.

"Well, no. The fact is, I won't teach you guys anymore. I have resigned from this college today." Ravi replied.

"What, really!!! "

"Why are resigning, Sir? "

"Could it be that you are angry at us, and decided to resign, is that the reason, Sir?"

"Sir, is the college giving you a poor salary?"

Students were stating their own opinion about their teacher's resignation. Ravi then shouted...

"Hey, stop with all of your wild imagination. I'm resigning because of my personal cause, to tell you guys in detail that I'm going to my home country and I want to settle there."

The students stopped their mouths, they were just surprised at their teacher's sudden resignation. Before anyone could tell anything Ravi spoke first.

"I'm sorry guys, for leaving you all in the middle of the semester. But, don't worry. The college would appoint a qualified teacher for your physics subject and will teach you, folks. I know, I am not an emotional guy but leaving you guys really pains my heart. But this selfish me wants to do something that cannot be fulfilled staying here, so I just want to say that, I am sorry." Ravi bend his waist and gave a 90-degree bow to the students while saying sorry.

After that, he left the classroom. He went out of college and got into a cab.

"To the City Bank, please." He said to the taxi driver.

After 15 minutes, he reached the bank. Upon entering the bank he went to a lady bank officer. He then called out her,

"Excuse me."

"Yes, sir. How can I help you?"

"I would like to transfer my ownership of this bank account to my friend."

"Well, this is new, that someone is trying to transfer his account to his friend. For that, you need to fill this form and give your fingerprints, and your friend's fingerprints will also be needed." The lady officer said handing him a form.

"My friend is not here, will it be okay if my friend comes here at a later time?"

"Yeah, no problem. He just needs to bring your Master Card ( Bank account card) and this form and he will be good as done."

"Yeah, thank you very much, miss." Ravi thanked her smilingly. After filling the form and taking care of the procedures, he went out of the bank. Now, he had one more task to be done. He went to the Land Legalization office for legalizing his house and the land to Rickie's ownership. After finishing all this work, he went straight back to his house. It was around 1.30 P.M.

As he went inside, he could see Rickie using his smartphone sitting on the sofa and the TV was on. As he saw Ravi entering he stand up and said...

"Boss, you're back. Usually, you do not come home this early."

"Well, the thing is I have gone to college for submitting my resignation letter and then I went to the bank and land legalization office. "

"What!!! Are you really....No, isn't this being too hasty? We could do a few more trials." Rickie said while being surprised. He didn't expect this would come this soon.

"The trial went pretty smoothly, no? So, why the holdup. Don't worry it will be fine." Ravi changed the topic and asked him,

"Have you eaten your lunch yet?"

"No, I haven't. "

"Good, then. Let's have a luxurious lunch together. We haven't eaten lunch together for a long time."

Ravi then ordered his cook robot to make a luxurious meal as he went to the washroom to be freshed. After 15 minutes he came to the dining room wearing a t-shirt and shorts that he usually wears. Both of them sat together for eating their lunch. Ravi then said,

"You have to go to the City Bank afterward for the account transfer. All the files are in that suitcase." Rickie knew this would happen so he didn't ask much.

"Boss, are you really gonna enter the capsule today?"

"Yeah, It will be tonight at 9 P.M. Oh, and one more thing, don't let anyone know that I had died and take care of my funeral secretly, and don't worry, teacher Hamid will help you with this."

"Yeah, let's just hope that everything will go as you've wished," Rickie said.

They both wished that Ravi would go back to the past 10 years in another parallel world. But, reality doesn't seem to be at their side.
