Chapter 8 Somethings Changed

As the large red dragon flare flew back towards the castle Seraphina fought to stay awake. The amount of blood she was losing was beginning to be too much.

When flare landed at the castle soldiers surrounded them. "Seraphina" marianna said her tone was cold. "Mother?" Seraphina had said weakly sitting up. Alaster then walked up to marianna. "It seems the princess is seriously injured your majesty," Alastor said as he put his hand on Marianna's shoulder. Something was wrong. Sera could sense it. But she didn't have the energy to fight anyone.

"Let us quickly get her to a doctor to be checked" he said as he stared up at Seraphina. She didn't trust him not one little bit but she had no choice. She slowly got off of flare, and her father appeared next to her catching her. "Father?" Sera said, confused, he seemed strange as well.

They brought Sera into the castle and quickly brought a doctor to check on her and a priest to heal her. "I'm afraid it will leave a scar even with the priest healing it," said the doctor.

The doctor moved out of the way so the priest could heal her, his hands began to glow, but nothing happened. "Why isn't she healing?" Alastor asked. "I'm not sure?" Said the priest. "It seems I'll have to stitch her up," the doctor said. "I need everyone to leave. The cut is in a serious spot, one wrong move and I could make her worse instead of better" the doctor told them. "So be it," said alastor. Alastor, Marianna, Theo and the priest all left, closing the door behind her.

It was quiet for a moment. The doctor pulled out a needle and thread from his back and began to suture her. "Does it hurt badly?" Asked the doctor. "Perhaps I'm in what you would call shock, I feel nothing on my back" she told him. "I pray your nerves were not badly damaged princess" he said as he continued to suture her.

It was silent again for a moment before seraphina spoke. "You're the only one I have seen thus far since my return who seems the same" Seraphina told him. "Perhaps I am," he told her. "After I am done I will tell them you need a rest princess, at that time you should escape" the doctor told her. "Escape?" She questioned. "Yes," he replied. "The mage alastor has taken control of the capital, it is no longer safe for you here" he told her. "Control but how?" Sera asked. "I'm not completely sure," he said. "But as soon as you can, you must run," he added. "Go to Geria and gather forces there if need be" he told her as he finished with the sutures.

"The longer you're here the more danger you will be in" he said. "Thank you doctor," she replied. "I have only warned you princess" he said as he stood up. "The rest must be up to you and your Dragons" he said. "Now pretend to sleep, and when you hear no noise run" he said before opening the door and walking out.

"How Is the princess doctor?" Alastor asked, with Marianna still by his side. The doctor looked at Marianna for a moment then looked back at Alastor. She will recover, but right now she needs plenty of rest" the doctor told him. "She lost a lot of blood," he added.

"I see we'll make sure to take good care of her highness, you may go now" alastor told him. The doctor bowed to Marianna and walked away. After the doctor was out of sight, Alastor opened the door to Seraphinas room. "Your Highness, I have come to check on you" he said. There was only silence.

Alastor walked over to the Bed. "Your Highness" alastor said again. He reached his hand down and pulled the covers off the bed. "Pillows!?" He said shocked. Alastor stormed out of the room. "SHE'S GONE!" he yelled. "FIND THE PRINCESS" marianna yelled.

Seraphina was running, she had already made her way to the woods. The doctor had confirmed her suspicions. "Dammit" she said as he fell against a tree. Pain had filled her body, but she couldn't stop running. There was no telling what would happen if she was caught. Suddenly she heard the sound of a stick snapping and she turned to see who it was. Had they found her already? Then a little red dragon jumped out of the brush. "Eris," she said, shocked.

"Then flare appeared, following the baby dragon. And behind her storm and blizzard. "How in the world did such large dragons sneak away?" She asked herself. "Uah" she said as a wave of pain filled her body.

"Quickly find her?" She heard someone yell. "There's no time for this," she whispered. "Blizzard down" she said and blizzard laid down. She crawled onto his back, and let out a deep breath. "The only way out of here was to fly" she said. "And for now the safest place is Geria," she added. Geria was still a separate country from the United empire. And as long as her great grandmother lived it would stay like that. "There she is!" She heard some say. "Fly" Seraphina whispered, as Eris jumped into her lap. The 3 dragons took off into the air.

There was only one dragon left now, and that was Drazyn. Her mother wouldn't try to come after her, right? She wondered. "I'm sorry but we must fly faster blizzard" she said, patting his neck. He let out a light groan, but did as she said. As did storm and flare. "How are you doing, Eris?" Seraphina asked, petting her. She let out a tiny little roar. And curled up into a ball on her lap. She still couldn't fly, although her wing had slightly healed.

Seraphina let out a deep breath. What could she do? How was she supposed to fix things? There was no doubt that mage had her own people hunting her. As long as she wasn't under his control she was a threat to him. And as long as he had control of her family he was a threat to her.
