13. Extending the Base

David dodged the mantises first rush towards him and tried to land a punch on the mantis unfortunately it wasn't as slow as the monkey and managed to dodge his attack. Then the inevitable stalemate happened, David would try to punch see that the mantis was trying to trade punches pull his punch back dodge and try to attack from another side or the mantis would attack David would see flaw try to utilize this mistake, however the mantis being fast would dodge the attack, it couldn't dodge all of them but it could dodge a lot of them.

As time went on David would get hit a total of 3 times which wasn't a huge deal since he didn't get hit with full force ilke the monkey kings attacks, these little scratches would still deal up to 30% of his hp. Unlike the monkey kings miserably slow regen rate, the mantis had a normal regen rate so it would regen most of the damage and this made it so that it was about impossible to beat right now. After some time David felt mentally spent so he ran back to the safe room. He realized at this point that the reason he felt spent so fast was the ring he wore, event hough he got more powerful if he didn't have enough mental resistance, he would expend more mental energy. He decided that the mental resistance would increase in time and he would be able to use his body better after both getting used to it and getting used to his new increased stats.

He kept on fighting the mantis for 2 more weeks until he was able to beat the boss when he heard another ding sound

"Easy room captured, +5 to all stats and skill levels, safe zone area increased"

Come on is this really an easy area, it was like a few more times more dangerous than the monkeys. He was down but he still had some hope, if there was an item that the mantis dropped maybe he could be fine with this. NOI TEMS. Davids hopes and dreams had fallen into the water and was sinking, he didn't really care to be honest, he was just bored and overreacting to everything as that was the only way he could cope with his current loneliness.

After a minute or two of performing David left the mantis room and went back to the monkey room. Monkey room had a total of 4 roads leading to it. The base safe room, the mantis room and two other rooms David didn't know of. David went into the room that was at exactly the opposite side of the mantis room to the left of the base safe room when you were leaving the room. At the end of the corridor he saw bees flying around in huge fucking numbers, tried to engage one of the groups, the bees would fall pretty easily but they were too numerous.

David just left the room to enter the last corridor he didn't enter, at the end of this road was a bunch of bird-people, David observed them from the corridor however something seemed to be wrong with these monsters wings as the didn't use it for flying, only for quick bursts of speed during spars between the bird-people. Seeing that they were highly intelligent David decided that fighting these guys last would be the best course of action. David went back to the mantis room to see where else it lead except for the monkey room. There were two other corridors extending to unknown rooms one towards his left and one from directly other side of the room. He went forward and entered the corridor that was at the opposite side of the one he came from.

David walked for a little while and reached the huge room. To his surprise the room was empty except for a pedestal in the middle of the room with a glove laying on top it and some text etched into it. When David arrived next to the pedestal he tried to read what was written on the pedestal yet it was in a strange language that he had never seen before, for some reason all the symbols were etched all the way through the stone pedestal from both sides creating a strange yet good looking design also various lenses were placed in these holes. The only thing he could read was the first sentence.

"Approach the problem from the correct angles at the correct time and you shall receive a trip to the room everyone desires"

After seeing this line David thought that he had to look from a certain angle and it would say something he would do it and be done with it. Unfortunately for David, the Puzzle seemed to be more than just a carnival trick and even though he looked from literally the every angle he couldn't see any words or anything.

After this David was like then it had to be related to light or something, I guess I'll wait for a light to appear. He waited for barely ten minutes when a light did indeed appear and it stayed there for a minute before disappearing. A minute was enough time to look from all the angles yet still David had no idea what the secret of the text was.

David started observing the pedestal to see if anything would change with the lights coming to it. However even after a full day of observing and seeing 24 different lights hit the writing directly he had no idea what the puzzle was, he was looking at it from different angles, looking from the source from every point it bounced from, even from the ground to see if the reflecting rays had created a letter or something in the air.

As all of these were failing Davids patience started running low and after the whole day there he gave up on the secret of the room for the day since he was starting to feel sluggish from not sleeping and thinking to solve a problem.

He went back to the base Safe room, used the magical refrigerator looking thing to get some food and beverage. After he was done with his meal, he just slept and spent some more time until he was over with the secret room thoughts of what it could be.

With a fresh and ready to think out of the box mind he came back to the room he had spent a whole day away and the first thing he realized with the first light was, it was the same exact light as the one that appeared two days ago at this hour. After watching the lights for a few more hours he made sure that they were the same and they were. David realized that the lights were either one sentence, word or letter. David also figured that the letters were most likely in order. David again stayed for a full day and still was unable to find anything else, however he kept staying hoping something different would happen and it did. The lights were different from the last days lights. He kept observing them for a while and at the 13th hour in the second day something even more important happened. One of the lights that shined on the pedestal actually created a letter on the wall to the opposite side of its entrance. The letter T had appeared on the wall.

David seeing that finally something different happened was ecstatic. He started looking at all the angle related things about the pedestal and the light he could think of. He started moving around to see if anything would change and nothing did, T was available from all angles. He started looking at the angle the light hit from but there were other lights that hit from almost exact lights that didn't show anything on any walls whatsoever.

David finally thought to look through the lenses and the glasses placed at the bottom of the pedestal, the light hurt his eyes a little but it wasn't that big of a deal. He looked through the lenses and what he saw made him feel like he was an idiot. He saw that there was something etched at where the light had last hit the wall before coming to the pedestal.

David took a step back from the pedestal and went to the place the light had hit the wall last. He looked at it but the etch wasn't there. David realized that he could see these things only from the pedestal and he had to find a way to turn the pedestal as his power would not be enough to turn a whole pedestal.

After the light had subsided he went back to the pedestal and started looking to see if there was anything that would allow him to move the pedestal around. He was unable to find anything and thus decided to try his chances with the gloves on top of the pedestal, he had already tried to use identify on the objects it just didn't give him any information so he decided to leave them alone However things had changed.

David went to the pedestal and slowly started to extend his hand towards the glove. He moved centimeter by centimeter until his hand was about to touch the gloves. David had readied himself to run away at the first sight of danger, then his hands touched the gloves.
