A Blade That Will Never Break

Inside the car, Alex was seated beside the driver's seat due to Alice's insistence. Abbie had no choice but to agree because the lady in question had bribed her with the limited edition "Magnum" ice cream that was only sold to ten people everyday at a popular cafe in the city.

The chubby girl had long wondered why this ice cream was very popular, but was unable to buy it due to its high demand. Since Alice only wanted Alex to sit beside her, Abbie didn't see any problem with that. The shotacon gets what she wants and she gets her ice cream. It was a win-win for everyone!

"Alice, where are we going?" Abbie asked. She was looking at the side of the road and had noticed that they had entered the business area. This was the only place in the city where high rise buildings stood side by side. There were many companies that were based here and Abbie assumed that the game company was also located in this area.

"The company has a high-class restaurant dedicated to its employees," Alice replied. "I think that you and Alex will enjoy the food there."

Alice glanced at the young boy seated beside her. He was looking out of the car's window, his eyes filled with wonder. "Can you still eat sweetheart?"

Alex turned his head to look at Alice and nodded his head. "Un! I can eat a bit more, Big Sister Alice."

"Good!" The shotacon used the conversation as an excuse to pat the young boy's head. "I already called in advance and asked them to reserve a private room just for us. Eat as much as you want!"

"Un!"

While the two were conversing, Abbie was busy checking the different functions of the GGS App. Today, she discovered the "Fashion Shop" and the "Hero Search" function of the program. Both were very useful, especially when it came to Alex's well being. Abbie wanted to familiarize herself with the other functions so that she would be more prepared in the future.

"Equipment Shop, Magic Shop, Potion Shop, Mission Board, Friend List, Character Class, Skill Tree, and Inventory," Abbie muttered.

She clicked the Equipment Shop and as the name suggested, it was filled with equipment. There was a wide variety of weapons, armor, accessories, and some consumables--like arrows--being sold.

The Magic Shop was filled with equipment that was enchanted with magic. They also had consumable spell scrolls that could only be used once. Abbie was very interested in using magic. Since she was a normal person, she had always wanted to experience what it was like to cast magic spells like [Fireball]. You can say that magic was something that every normal person desired.

Abbie then scrolled down and clicked the Potion Shop. Various potions including health and mana potions were available. There were some unique products like, stone skin, bull's strength, fox's grace, etc. There were even some shady potions like love potions and aphrodisiacs.

'Love potions?' Abbie snorted. 'If something this convenient exists then a lot of ladies would buy them in bulk.'

Although Abbie said that, she made a mental note to revisit the Potion Shop and check the reviews for the Love Potions to see if they were very effective. Abbie had been single all her life and she was a little frail when it came to keywords like 'love potions' and such. She didn't believe it to be effective, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try right?

Her next stop was the mission board. Currently it was empty and only an announcement that said "Missions are currently unavailable." was displayed. There was even a countdown timer on the side that said it would open in 27 days.

'Alice did say that the beta testing phase would start a month from now,' Alice mused. 'So there are still 27 days left…'

Abbie skipped the Friend List because, right now, she didn't have any friends that were playing the game. She then clicked the Character Class and her eyes widened at the amount of information she saw.

'Mmm, I think I better ask Alice about this later,' Abbie thought. She had played many games before so she was familiar with how to distribute stat points. However, since this heavily affected Alexander's future, she didn't want to take any chances. It would be better to consult someone who was more knowledgeable about the game.

Abbie then clicked the Skill Tree Tab and saw Alex's available skills. Currently there were none, but he has 2 skill points that could be used anytime. Again, she decided to wait and consult with Alice about this. If possible, she would also like to listen to Alexander's wishes.

The thing that piqued her interest was the possibility of changing job classes. For example, a warrior could change jobs to become a barbarian, paladin, ranger, berserker, etc. Once they reached a higher level, their specialized classes, also known as "Prestige Classes", would also become available.

Abbie glanced at Alex who was seated in front of her. Although she knew that Alex was a hero, it was hard for her to think that way because, from her perspective, Alex was still a child. The thought of him wielding a sword and fighting monsters brought a frown to her face.

'W-Would my Alex really be alright?' Abbie was starting to feel anxious. 'Wouldn't he get hurt? He might even die. Oh no! What should I do if that happens?'

She decided to buy a lot of healing potions in the potion store to ensure that her Little Hero wouldn't suffer. The thought of Alex getting hurt made her heart ache. Although Abbie was not fully aware of it, Alexander had stirred her maternal instincts.

The chubby girl sighed and looked at the last function of the GGS App, Inventory. When she clicked inventory, she saw Alexander's current equipment. All of the items were pretty shabby and screamed low-quality all over the place. There was only one exception, Alexander's weapon. Abbie was surprised to see the rarity rating of the sword and its description.

Durandal, that was the name of Alexander's sword. Its rank was "Mythic". A weapon that had a higher rarity than Legendary Weapons. Abbie was surprised that her Little Hero had an item like this in his possession.

Durandal was a short sword that gave off a silver glow. The sword guard was in the form of a cross. The handle was lined with red leather ending in a circular pommel with a phoenix design.

It was a good sword, fitting for a hero. Abbie read the description on the sword. She wanted to know more about the weapon that Alex wielded. However, instead of a description, a poem was written instead.

----

Durandal

In times of darkness, when no hope was found.

When tragedy occurs and evil abounds.

Unseathe me from my scabbard to where I lay.

Smite thy evil that leads men astray.

As long as your will, will not waver.

As long as your heart would never surrender.

My blade will stay sharp and will never break.

Twilight comes, and the enemy awaits!

-----

Abbie could feel her blood boiling upon reading the poem. She envisioned Alexander standing in a battlefield surrounded with enemies and wielding the short sword in his hand. It was a mighty scene, a manly scene, however she felt that Alexander looked out of place.

She was living in a peaceful world. There was law and order. Although crimes and wars still abounded, it was something she had never personally experienced. To see a child wielding a sword and fighting at the front lines of war was something she'd rather not see.

'This is just a game,' Abbie repeated inside her head. 'Just a game. It's just fantasy. It's not real.'

She kept on repeating these words inside her head like a Mantra. Abbie knew that she was running away from reality. Alexander, who was supposed to be a game character, was summoned to the real world. Summoned to her world. If that's not reality then what was real?

Abbie had so many questions, but no answer came. Her only choice was to have a private talk with Alice. She wanted to know more about this 'game' that was slowly merging with her reality.
