After the three finished eating, they stayed in the private room because they were too full to move. Even Alice, who didn't usually eat much, ate a lot. It had been a while since she had eaten with other people. She forgot what it was like to enjoy a meal with friends because she usually dined with people because of business transactions.
Those were formal gatherings, and not a place where she could let loose and be herself. The beautiful blonde girl glanced at Alexander who was resting in Abbie's embrace. The shota had his eyes closed and was enjoying the attention being given to him by his chubby master.
If Alice said she wasn't envious, she would be lying. She had always wanted to have a little brother, but she was an only child. Her mother died when she was only five years old and her father never remarried.
Abbie was humming a song as she patted Alexander's head. The meal she ate was simply wonderful. If possible, she'd like to eat like that everyday. Unfortunately, she was also worried about gaining more weight than she already had.
She vowed the same thing she vowed yesterday and the day before, and that was to control her eating habits and go on a diet.
'Alright, I've decided! I'm going on a diet starting tomorrow!'
Abbie was very pleased with herself. She had already forgotten that she broke her vow for two consecutive days. Her dream was to have a drop, dead, gorgeous body similar to those supermodels she saw on T.V. Well, people could dream, but turning those dreams into reality? That would require extreme discipline and effort on her part.
While the three were having their moment of relaxation, Alice's phone suddenly rang. The blonde checked who the caller was and a smile appeared on her beautiful face.
"My father is looking for us," Alice explained. "Can you guys still move?"
"Mmm, I think I can."
"I'll go wherever my Master goes."
The two replied one after the other. Alice nodded her head and stood up from her seat. She rang the bell to call in the waiters to clear away the dishes. While the restaurant staff was busy cleaning up, the three made their way to an elevator that required a card to operate.
The three entered and Alice pressed the button that had the B2 label on it. The elevator slowly made its way downwards. Abbie didn't notice this before, but the elevator wasn' stopping on any other floors. It was as if the elevator was a private one and only a few privileged people could use it.
"This is a private elevator that only the people involved in Go! Go! Summons can use," Alice said while looking at Abbie. Although she couldn't read people's minds, Abbie was easy to read. Her emotions showed on her face. "If anyone in the company asks you about your position, tell them that you are a game developer."
"A game developer? Not a tester?"
"No. Due to the nature of the 'game' secrecy is the company's top priority."
"I understand." Abbie nodded her head in agreement. "I'll do as you say."
It didn't take long before the elevator stopped and opened its doors. The three walked out and appeared in what seemed to be a garden built underground. There were a few people walking around and Alice introduced them as agents, like her, who were also looking for their own candidates to test the game.
"When did you start looking for beta testers?"
"Three days ago. The higher-ups gave the go signal to start actively searching for players who will help us clear the game."
"Once someone clears the game they can have any wish they desire?" Abbie asked to confirm her doubts. "Are you talking about monetary things? Wishes that can be accomplished by using money?"
Alice chuckled as she started walking. "My dear Abbie, the one who will be able to clear the game will have one of their wishes fulfilled. Any wish, ANY is the keyword my dear."
Abbie and Alex walked a few steps behind her while admiring the scenery.
"So if I wished to become Immortal, then I will become immortal? Is that it?"
"Yes."
"Although it sounds impossible, I can't deny that the possibility exists," Abbie said as her gaze landed on Alex. "I just don't know what kind of 'game' I am going to participate in. I always thought that 'Go! Go! Summons!' was just an ordinary fantasy rpg with gacha elements."
(A/N: Just in case you don't know, RPG means Role Playing Game.)
"To be honest, I also don't know what kind of game it is," Alice admitted. "The only thing I know is that this game is the only one of its kind. A game where the chosen candidates and their heroes will join hands in order to save the world of Edea. As to how Edea will be saved, I have no idea."
"Eh? You don't know?" Abbie was shocked at Alice's revelation. "How come you don't know? Your company was the one that developed this game, is it not?"
"You think? Do you really believe that Abbie?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you think anyone in this world can make a game as real as this?" Alice replied with a smile. "Only the higher-ups know how this 'game' came to be. That's why we are looking for 'testers' to clear the game because everything is still unknown."
"We will know the answers when the Gate of Edea opens. We still have twenty seven days. Until then, I will give you the information that is currently available to us."
While they were talking, the three arrived at a plaza with a big circular fountain at the center. Standing in front of it was a middle-aged man with blonde hair, blue eyes, and wearing a black suit.
He looked a little bit like Alice, but more rough in the edges. Abbie assumed that this was Alice's father, Arthur Williams, one of the shareholders of the Exodia Company.
The man gave them a dazzling smile which would bring toothpaste models to shame. Even though he was a middle-aged man, Arthur was very handsome. His age only brought more maturity to that handsome face which gave people a sense of security. Younger women who liked older men would find him to be their ideal life partner.
"You must be Abbie. I've heard a lot of things about you from Aiden," Arthur greeted. "He said that you and your little Hero, Alexander, held great promise. I look forward to working with the two of you."
"I, too, look forward to our partnership," Abbie replied and extended her hand in a handshake.
Arthur held her hand in a firm grip and shook it twice. "May our partnership be fruitful."
Alex didn't say anything and simply nodded his head. He was secretly on guard because he felt the presence of a few "heroes" like him in the vicinity. The little boy's gaze met Arthur who in turn nodded his head in approval.
'Although he is just a One-Starred Hero, Aiden was right,' Arthur thought in amusement. 'Somehow, he gives me the feeling that he's not as simple as he looks.'
