GGS Tutorial [Part 3]

The sound of a wooden club hitting a sword echoed inside the dungeon. Alex was fighting a one on one battle with the goblin. Although Abbie allowed the boy to fight the goblin alone, she was prepared to assist him anytime.

Alex's first move was to sneak attack the goblin. However, his attack was easily dodged because the goblin was prepared. It swung its club for a counter attack which almost landed a nasty blow on Alex's head. Luckily, Alex was able to dodge in time or else he would have been seriously injured.

Since the element of surprise was gone, the two were locked in armed combat. Currently, Alex only had the strength of a thirteen-year-old boy. If not for Durandal being a mythical weapon, he wouldn't have stood a chance against the stronger foe he was facing.

The goblin was perplexed because no matter how hard he hit the sword with his wooden club, the boy was able to endure the blow. In truth, Alex's hand was already numb from the repeated attack of the goblin. The only reason why he hadn't let go of Durandal was because his master, Abbie, was watching him. He couldn't afford to lose!

"Gobi Gob Gob!" {Not bad, you are worthy of fighting this Sir!}

"You're not too shabby yourself," Alex smiled, giving no thought to the fact that he understood what the goblin had said.

The two fought an epic battle which caused the cave to shake and the air to tremble. Each swing of their weapons was so strong that after images followed behind it. The goblin laughed evilly as he pummeled Alex with his wooden club.

Alex accepted the blow and laughed wholeheartedly. The battle made his blood boil and he considered the goblin in front of him a rival. The battle was so earth shattering that it was enough to make anyone who watched roll their eyes out of boredom.

Abbie yawned as he watched the Goblin and Alex duke it out. The two were like two little kids playing around carrying wooden sticks and hitting each other. Their laughter echoed in the dungeon as the two little monkeys played around like mighty warriors. After fifteen minutes of a kiddy battle. Abbie wasn't able to take it any longer and made her move.

"Eyah!" Abbie unceremoniously whacked the goblin's head with her wooden bat, which made it drop its weapon and hold its head in pain. After a while it cried like a little girl. Its woeful voice rang inside the dungeon which gave Abbie the strong urge to slap it silly.

"Master," Alex looked at Abbie with a pout. "I was about to beat him. Why did you get in the way?"

Abbie almost choked on her saliva after hearing Alex's words. 'About to beat him? Are you kidding me? You call that a battle? All I see are two little brats laughing like maniacs and brandishing their weapons at each other. Please, kindergarteners could do better than that!'

Of course, Abbie wouldn't say this to Alex. She didn't want to hurt his pride, but their so-called "battle" almost made her fall asleep. She didn't come here to watch a kiddy play!

"Wuwuwu" the goblin cried like there was no tomorrow. "Gobi gob gob gob!" {You uncultured and ugly swine. You dare hit this Sir! I'll tell my mom about you!}

The goblin ran away crying like a girl that was rejected by her crush. Abbie clicked her tongue and looked at the retreating creature with disdain. 'Good Riddance!'

"Ah! Master, I forgot to tell you something," Alex's expression suddenly changed. "Goblins are social creatures, they don't usually wander off alone. We might be in danger!"

"What do you mean?" Abbie asked. She didn't understand what Alex was trying to say.

"Meaning, he might have ran away to call for help."

It was then that the two heard rumbling sounds in the distance. Abbie's pupil shrank as she saw more than a dozen goblins swinging their wooden clubs and running in their direction.

"Shi-"

"Master, Let's run!"

Abbie and Alex ran with all their might. The chubby girl kept cursing the crybaby goblin as her body fat jiggled from the intense running. It was a good thing that goblins were not fast runners. The two were able to escape successfully from their pursuit.

Ironically, Abbie and Alex ran in the direction of the [Safe Zone] which was located in the North East of the Dungeon of Greed. This place was protected by a strong barrier that prevented the monsters from getting through. Adventurers often use this place to rest whenever they dive into a dungeon. The two decided to stay here for the time being until the coast was clear.

While the two were resting, Abbie's I-Foam rang. When she checked the caller's ID she saw Alice's name and immediately pressed the answer button.

"How was your first battle?" Abbie's teasing voice sounded from the other end of the line.

"It was more lackluster than I imagined," Abbie snorted. "Alice, this can't go on. We need to use Alex's stat and skill points."

Abbie vaguely heard Alice's suppressed giggle, but she decided to ignore it. She was serious when she said that they need to strengthen Alex or else this tutorial would be pointless.

"Fine, you win. Let's distribute Alex's points."

"Alright! Now we're talking!"

Alice shook her head helplessly from the simulation room. After watching Alex's first battle, she almost laughed out loud. The battle between Alex and the goblin looked like a low budgeted comedy play. Even Aiden was having trouble keeping a straight face.

"Ok, listen carefully. The first thing you need to do is say 'Edea Master Mode'," Alice explained. "Alex's Character Sheet will appear in front of you like a hologram. I will guide you so you will not make a mistake in distributing the points."

"Understood," Abbie replied excitedly. "Edea Master Mode!"

[Initializing Master Mode...]

[Master Mode Successfully Deployed…*yawn* Can't you be like a civilized person and not wake me up in the middle of the night? I'm trying to get my beauty sleep.]

The grumpy voice of the AI instantly irritated Abbie. 'Excuse me? Beauty sleep? Since when do AI's need beauty sleep?!'

She really wanted to give the bitchy AI her piece of mind, but she held herself back. Alex's point distribution was more important.

"Ok, can you see Alex's stats?" Alice asked. "You should see Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, and Luck."

"I see them," Abbie replied. "Alex currently has 5 stat points available. Where should I place them?"

"Right now, Alex lacks power and mobility. Add three points to Strength and two points to Dexterity."

"Good!"

Abbie did as she was told and added the corresponding points to Alex's character stats.

"If I'm not mistaken, Alex has two skill points available," Alice said. "Open the Skill Tree and choose Weapon Focus [Short Sword]. After that, choose [Mobility]."

Alice decided to explain the skill points to Abbie so she would know what they were for.

"As you already know Alex's main weapon is the Short Sword, so adding the skill Weapon Focus will increase his mastery over the weapon. Mobility, on the other hand, gives him faster reflexes which will allow him to dodge attacks."

"I see, sounds good."

Abbie was a competitive gamer at heart. In every game she played, she would do her best to ensure that her characters become the strongest of them all. Since Alex was her hero, it was only natural that she gave him her full support.

Alice sighed from the other end of the phone. "The next time Alex will gain some points is when he reaches level 10. Until then, he is stuck with his current skill build. Now that everything is in place click "Accept" on the bottom right of the character sheet. The changes will be implemented immediately.

"Understood."

As soon as Abbie clicked the Accept Button she noticed that the young boy's body beside her was glowing. It lasted for a few seconds before the glow disappeared from his body. A smile appeared on Abbie's lips as she glanced at her Little Hero. The Alex that was standing in front of her seemed more reliable and stronger than ever before.

"Alex, are you ready for round two?" Abbie asked with a smile.

Alex smiled back. Only this time, his smile carried a charm that made Abbie's heart skip a beat. "I'm ready, Master."
