Arriving at Yan City

During this month, Mu Yue learned about cultivation from Tian Min. She also accepted to be a disciple of Tian Min as she regarded her as a teacher. Tian Min taught Mu Yue her Youmei Sword skill.

"Mu Yue, a sword can be used for a lot of things. A sword can attack, defend, or simply be an art. My sword skill can be seen by others as something inefficient. Remember this, do not be affected by what the others tell you. My sword skill seems just a simple elegant sword art that cannot be used on the battlefield but they are wrong. The true essence of my sword skill is having control over the blade while doing unpredictable attacks."

On the last day, Tian Min told Mu Yue the things she must never forget as a cultivator coming from her own experiences.

"Beasts are certainly stronger than cultivators however they are not the true threat. The true threats are the other cultivators. You must know how to read people as well as not allowing others to read you." Tian Min said concerned about what Mu Yue may experience as a cultivator.

Tian Min grew closer to Mu Yue as she regarded the latter as her daughter. Mu Yue then experienced how it felt to have a mother figure by her side and felt sad about being an orphan. She doesn't know if her parents abandoned her or she was just separated from them.

"It is now time for you to leave the forest, Mu Yue. I already taught you things that I know will be helpful to your cultivation." Tian Min said with a smile on her face.

"Master! Will I be able to see you again?" asked Mu Yue, tears flowing out of her eyes.

"Silly child, your master isn't dead yet and you still can see me when you get stronger. Once you become a celestial, you can go to the celestial realm and join my sect. After this spiritual remnant disappears, you will see a memory crystal. You can give it to the real me after you go to my sect and I will accept you as a disciple." Tian Min then hugged Mu Yue, caressing her back.

Mu Yue continued crying while her head was on Tian Min's chest. She felt her master's hug and fell sad that it would take a long time before she can be a celestial. Slowly, Tian Min's figure disappeared, replaced by a memory crystal.

Mu Yue took the memory crystal and placed it in the storage ring. She then went outside the cave and took a bath at a nearby lake. While going to the direction her master told her, she was attacked by the beasts. These beasts are weaker than her and were easily killed. She took their beast cores and kept on walking.

It took two days for Mu Yue before reaching Yan City. She first looked for a clothing store and bought a set of clothes for 10 gold coins. The shopkeeper was surprised that a young child was able to afford them and thought that she must be a young miss from a rich household.

"Mr. Shopkeeper, can you suggest an inn that I can stay at? It is my first time in the city." Mu Yue said as she stores the clothes to her storage ring.

"Then you should go to Xuan Inn located two streets from here. They have lots of rooms and have affordable prices."

"Thank you"

Mu Yue then went to the inn. When she was inside, she can't help but notice that the people kept on repeating the words 'school' and 'geniuses'.

"Have you heard about the newly adopted miss of the Ling family? That miss possess green spirit root and was quickly taken by the Lings."

"Only green??? I just saw one child who was directly invited by the First School because he possesses violet spiritual roots! That's 1 in 10 000!"

Mu Yue then went to the innkeeper and booked for a night.

"Mr. Keeper, what do they keep on talking about?"

"Oh, little girl are you new here? Well, there will always be yearly selections on who can attend cultivation schools. All child cultivators can enter them however special prodigies receive special treatment. It just started last week and will continue for 2 more weeks. You should register and enter one."

Mu Yue entered her room and thought about what the innkeeper told her. She decided to check it tomorrow and went to sleep.
