Chapter 14-1

A week later, I was actually starting to like school. Except for all of the assholes, it was fun because I could actually learn. I never realized how much I was missing in the world because of my lack of schooling.

"Wake up, teddy bear!" I heard Bram say while he was shaking me. "It is halfway into breakfast!"

"Teddy Bear?"

I slowly sat up while rubbing my eyes, and then I felt something being put on my face. My eyes started to focus and I was about to thank Bram, when I saw a giant shadowy hand in my face. I fell off the bed in surprise because it almost scared the life out of me.

"Sorry! I didn't want to get hit in the nuts today!"

I was laughing as I got up from the floor. He was looking at me confused because I could not stop.

"You do realize that I don't always do that. I only did that last time because I was surprised." Shortly after we got dressed, someone knocked on our door. "Come in!" Viktor came in and quickly closed the door. We both looked at Viktor funny because he looked scared. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I don't normally come over here to this hall, so I am worried a bit. But I came over to ask for help."

"Sure, what do you need help with?" Bram asked him.

"I know that both of you are taking culinary class this year and I am currently failing it. Please help me; Professor Goldman said that I could bring someone to tutor me during lunch time."

"I don't mind helping you but how does someone fail that class?" I asked him. "All it is just mixing food bits together."

"I mess up on the seasoning, heat, and cooling times." He started looking around. "Is it okay if I wait until you guys leave before I leave?"

We both agreed and grabbed our books, and then the three of us walked together. I could smell the fear coming off him in waves until we got near the dining hall. Because I woke up late, I had to eat fast before heading to class. We passed by Bruce and Flo on our way to the History & Mythology classroom. They were heading the opposite direction from us so I barely had time to say hello.

"Welcome class, today we are going to go into detail of the Wolves of Freedom. Now, last week we talked about why they formed and what great things they did. Today, we are going to talk about the leaders." Professor Manx said as he wrote down three names. My eyes widen at the names. "We actually have two of the leaders as staff and three of their children going to classes here. One of the children is actually here right now."

He pointed to Bram and I was surprised at the fact.

"Could you tell the class why they chose Wolves of Freedom as their name? I asked your father a few years ago but I want to see if you know."

"Well, my father never really talked much about the group except that their name is from the fact that all of their names mean different types of wolves in mythology. Romulus, the wolf of creation, Fenrir, the wolf of destruction, and Lucian, the wolf of leadership." Bram said while trying to hide in his desk.

"Thank you, but most of the myths change depending on the kingdoms. Over in Silvermine, Lucian was known as the wolf of rebellion rather than leadership because they had a different idea to the old tales." He turned back to the board and continued writing.

"They were forced into the army at the young age of twelve. The three of them came into their magic at the age of fourteen and they had to run from the army. It was law that any mages would be killed as soon as they come into their power. At age fifteen, they became a magical storm that protected those fighting against the lords. They were the main force that helped end the war after nearly four hundred years. When the war finally ended, all the lords were expecting old men in their eighties to come up and say they were the leaders. Imagine their surprise when it was three thirty year olds."

I could hear that many of the other students were surprised by this information. "Next class, we are going deeper into the mythology of their names."

The class ended and the three of us started to head towards the dining hall. I was surprised that I knew two of the rebel leaders almost all my life.

"Hey! Let me go!" My ears twitched as I heard Viktor's voice. "You were told that you were not supposed to be near me."

I started to head towards his voice and saw three guys holding him still with Achilles standing in front of him. They were inside one of the nearby empty classrooms. The way that his arms were bend looked painful as they tried pushing him to the ground.

"But I am not standing near you. Right guys?" His group of bullies agreed with him. "See, if you try to tell Mr. Wilhelm about this, he will just think that you were unfairly targeting me."

"You are wrong, because we are here seeing this." I said as we walked up.

"Achilles, be careful I heard that those three are mages. Sam almost got in trouble because the vampire pulled out Mr. Wilhelm out of his shadow." One of his guys said.

"Drop the slut, we're leaving." Achilles said before walking pass me. "Move out of my way, rug."

He pushed me out of his way and his friends followed behind him. Bram walked over and helped Viktor stand up. I realized who clawed him by the scar on his face and how he hated Viktor. I never realized how sharp my brother's claws are until now.
