Chapter 45: 'Boss'

Armed with all the information he needed. Ian found himself a little annoyed. He had hoped this endeavor was going to be more challenging. Something better than tormenting a couple of newlyweds who tried to pull one over on him. He wanted this endeavor to help occupy his time and keep his mind from going idle. It had been many days, but anytime he relaxed he found himself thinking about that wretched woman again. Ian had even gone as far as to call an old friend he used to train with during his military camp days. The man was as formidable as Ian, but he was lacking in intelligence which made him unsuited for business but perfect for military work. Currently, he was being groomed by Mr. Ben as a successor to his position. Now, it seems like Ian would have wasted the man's time on a silly task like this.

Confident, Ian closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair. He wanted to rest for an hour or so before making his next move. However just as he was beginning to feel sleepy, a large hand clasped his shoulder. Ian reacted quickly and grabbed the person's wrist using the chair to knock the man off balance and flip him over. The man was now on the ground rubbing his head in confusion.

"Drax?" Ian suddenly felt apologetic. The person he had shaken out of bed and forced to get into a plane was now in a pile on the ground. Drax looked up at Ian incredulously.

"Is this how we greet comrades now?" He said, while rubbing his wrist. Ian seemed to have gotten stronger.

A smile broke onto Ian's face and Drax followed suit. Ian walked over to the man and clasped his wrist while pulling him off the ground. They firmly shook hands while patting each other on the shoulders. In the world of men, this was the equivalent of a tight hug.

The two men exchanged pleasantries and laughed a while before Drax turned serious and inquired about the situation. Ian explained to him that he had originally thought he would need additional help, but now with a clearer understanding of the situation, it appears he wasted Drax's time. Drax on the other hand was pissed, that after finally going to bed after sixty hours of grueling military exercises, he was only able to snatch a quick nap before being sent to another country. Instead of him being happy that his services were no longer needed he was even more angry.

Drax had not changed at all over the years and Ian could read his mind immediately.

"Okay, Okay, you can help me." Ian said in a pacifying tone that made Drax laugh. He was happy that Ian was giving him the opportunity to kill the person who interrupted his beauty sleep.

----

Ian knocked on the huge metal doors of a warehouse in an unknown district in Sani. The doors opened with a loud rumble and he was immediately greeted by amateurish-looking gunmen with their weapons trained on him as if he were the devil. Casually, Ian raised both hands in the air demonstrating that he was unarmed and not dangerous. One of the braver men put down his weapon and stepped forward to search Ian. When he found nothing, he looked back at his colleagues in a confused manner.

"Boss, he doesn't seem to have anything on him," the man said.

"Impossible," said another man.

"Someone go and check him again." This time another man stepped forward and searched Ian and he also confirmed Ian to have no weapons. Ian looked at the man who seemed to be calling the shots.

"So, you're the boss?" Ian asked.

The man did not know why, but Ian's voice sent a chill up his spine. Something about the way he asked the question made the man feel as if his life were already over. He took this job because that damn gray eyed demon came searching for him and he did not want her to curse him. She promised him a large sum of money but now, he was not sure he would even live to see it. Ian's hands were still in the air when he stepped forward. He was walking into the warehouse without a care. The men around him were confused. Was he truly alone? Did he not realize how dangerous the situation was?

Ian looked around and as he suspected, this was not the place where the hostages were being held. He sighed deeply before turning around to stab a man in the neck. His movements were so swift and unexpected that the men surrounding him hesitated, giving Ian a chance to kill two more men before they could regroup. Once Ian had a gun in his hands, he was unstoppable. He used the body of one of the men he stabbed as a shield while he killed at least ten men with one bullet each.

Ian dragged his body shield to a nearby wall before tossing the corpse to the side and hiding. Another set of gunshots started to ring out from the other end of the warehouse. Apparently Drax had decided he wanted in on the action. Within five minutes the two men killed the 40 people who were guarding the warehouse.

Ian found the body of the man who was called 'boss' and kicked his body over. The man had been shot but he was very much alive. Ian squatted down to get closer to the man as he spoke.

"Where is the real person in charge?" he asked. The man feigned ignorance and pretended not to know what Ian meant but he was immediately greeted with pain as Ian used a finger to push at the bullet wound on the man's shoulder. Racked with pain, the man gave up the location of the hostages and passed out from exhaustion. Ian and Drax quickly eliminated all the survivors and headed out to the next location.
