Chapter 48: Little brother, can I keep her?

Drax spun around to see President Lee standing in the room with a sickly-looking man. It took him a minute to realize that it was the same man who was with Mills a while ago. The person's eyes were absolutely burning with rage and Drax smiled knowingly before President Lee cut in.

"If you two are done flirting, there is much to discuss." Drax winked at Milo and the man nearly flew into a rage when he heard a gun cocking. He turned to look at President Lee and was shocked to see the barrel of the gun trained on his sister. He immediately calmed down.

When Ian pointed the gun in Mills' direction Drax's heart flinched, although he did not move. He told himself that President Lee would have killed her long ago if he wanted to. This helped to settle his racing heart, but only by a little. Fortunately, Milo stopped posturing.

Ian retrained the gun on Milo and told him to take a seat. At the same time, Drax pulled Mills into a standing position. She wanted to push his hand away, but when she saw her brother being held at gunpoint, she lost all will to fight. She allowed Drax to half carry her to a chair. Once she was sitting, she leaned heavily on her brother. Although she had defended against most of her opponent's attacks, his strength outmatched hers greatly, and every place their bodies met ached badly. Milo had never seen his sister in such a sorry state. He was unaccustomed to it and it made him feel like the worst brother in the world.

Ian broke the silence by speaking first. Milo answered.

"President Lee, we were wondering if you would show up. We would like to propose a partnership with you." Ian's eyebrows arched, maybe this endeavor would not be so boring after all.

"You want to propose a partnership with me, but what exactly do you have to offer? Your men are dead, and I dare say, this warehouse belongs to me now. What exactly do you have that I would want?"

Milo went to answer but Mills cut him off. She laughed, before telling President Lee that they had been trying to meet with him conventionally for over a year, with no luck. They had to try something bold to get his attention. From the corner of his eye, Ian saw Drax smile affectionately at the woman who did not even bother to look up from her brother's shoulder while speaking. She had not given up her defiance at all.

Mills flicked her wrist toward President Lee and her brother used two fingers to fish a phone out of the breast pocket of his jacket. He handed the device to Ian.

"What do you want me to do with this?" Ian asked and Mills answered.

"You have an ammunition factory here in Sani, and we have a weapons factory. We would like to work under the Lee Group, we only ask that patents are split sixty - forty between the groups. We understand that we do not have the resources of the Lee Group, but we have something the Lee Group does not." Ian looked up as to question what they could possibly have, and Mills looked over at her brother adoringly as he softly tapped his head. She asked President Lee to open the devices folders and look at their weapons models. She then went into detail to explain them.

With every word Mills spoke, Drax's eyes lit up. He was literally sitting at the edge of the chair when he tugged on Ian's sleeve and in all seriousness asked.

"Little brother, can I please keep her?" Ian's face contorted.

Over their years of friendship, he had attempted to get Drax to drop his title several times, but the man refused. Now in the presence of this woman, he was suddenly 'Little brother'? Ian scoffed. He looked up just in time to see that both sibling's faces were twisted with discomfort after Drax's question. Ian decided to jump on the opportunity and unceremoniously said "Sure." Drax was elated. He could not wait to show his woman off.

Milo cleared his throat and reminded President Lee that he had not given them an answer. Ian answered with indifference. He did not see a need to work with the twins, they had already given him their weapons models, which were excellent, and they had even explained the functions to him in detail. To him there was no reason to keep them alive.

When the twins heard President Lee tell them that he did not plan on allowing them to live, they looked at each other and laughed out loud. Drax, who had been admiring Mills this whole time, blanched at Ian's words. It looked like he would not get to show off as he had planned. Mills sat up straight and breathed deeply.

"Since it has come to this, let me be frank. We had never planned on leaving this place alive." She looked Drax in the eye before turning to look at President Lee. She continued speaking.

"We had never planned on leaving this place alive, but neither will you." Both Ian and Drax wrinkled their faces at her words. Seeing that they were confused, Mills explained to the men that the warehouse was set to explode the moment the hostages were freed. She told them that if anyone left the warehouse before the explosives were disarmed, sensors connected to the building would automatically trigger the structure to explode. Ian's gaze darkened.

Since president Lee did not plan on keeping them alive, Milo and Mills felt no need to hide anything. They told President Lee that the bombs could only be deactivated by one of their subordinates who was watching remotely. Of course, they reminded President Lee that with his agreement to their terms, they could all walk out of the building alive. Drax stood up and pulled Milo up by his collar, outraged that the man was willing to sacrifice his sister's life. Milo showed no emotion on his face as he forcibly pushed Drax's hands off with more strength than Drax thought he had. Maybe he was not as weak as he originally thought.

Milo smoothed out his suit before patiently explaining that a contract could be drawn up on the spot, and the moment it was signed, the bombs would be disabled. Ian appeared not to believe them, but he could not afford to be hasty. He opened his phone and made a quick call.
