Chapter 27: Accidental Date

Seeing that Mina had gone to bed, Ian felt his own fatigue. He stood up and walked to the bed in his study. As he lay there, images of Mina removing her clothing flooded his mind, and he suddenly wanted to remember what it was like to have been with her. He wondered if they kissed or cuddled at all. He tried to force his memories out, but there was nothing. Just as his eyes closed, he remembered the camera in the room. There may not have been any footage but there should be audio. He decided that he would check the video in the morning. Right now, he was tired, and he was mentally drained in a way he never thought was possible. Ian felt as if he were torn between lovers. He knew that his feelings for Mina would fade with time, but it still made him uncomfortable.

----

The first thing Ian did in the morning was check his phone. It was only 8AM, but Lisa had already sent him a text. He looked closely and saw that she sent it late last night. Ian read the text.

[Thank you for today. I really enjoyed our date.]

Ian was confused. He had not explicitly said that it was a date, but wasn't that what it was? He had let his guilt cloud his judgement, and now he felt like he had committed to a relationship that might not survive the coming storm. When Lisa finds out about Mina, how would she react? Ian needed expert advice for this situation, so he tried to call Zane but as he pressed the call button, he accidentally answered an incoming call. It was Lisa.

"Hello… Li Lee. I just saw your text." Lisa was ecstatic, and waves of pleasure shot down her spine, this was her body's natural reaction to Ian's morning voice. She had only heard it a few times and could not wait for the day to come when he would be greeting her with that shaggy, sexy voice every morning. She suddenly thought that she must do some research on contraceptives. If they were not careful, they might have an entire brood of children.

"Lisa?" Ian called her name. She had forgotten to respond. She finally said.

"Good Morning. Did I wake you?" Ian shook his head on the other end of the line while he answered. He knew that she could not see him, but he was so used to her being around that he momentarily forgot.

"No, I was awake." Lisa's face lit up. Ian did not want her to feel bad for waking him up, so he lied. He was really thinking about her feelings now. She did not know what happened to him but, ever since that night at the hotel, Ian had been treating her differently. Perhaps he finally saw her worth.

The pair continued to converse on the phone for a while before Lisa was interrupted by a knock at her door. She was absolutely boiling with anger, but she calmly held it back and ended the call with Ian. She could always talk to him later.

Lisa stood up and walked to her door. She opened it and a petite woman stood in front of her holding a plate with crepes and fresh cut fruit.

"I noticed you had not come down for breakfast," she said. So, I brought you something to eat. I made it myself. I hope you enjoy it." The smile on the woman's face never left as she spoke to Lisa. This infuriated Lisa even more, so she took the plate and slammed the door in her sister-in-law's face. That dumb woman interrupted her call before she could ask Ian to accompany her to the movies tonight. The food had better be worth it.

Just as Lisa was about to take a bite, there was another knock at the door. Lisa took a deep breath, put the plate to the side and went to open her door again. This time it was her brother. That pathetic woman was tugging at him trying to pull him away from Lisa's room, but he would not budge. Her sister-in-law's face was filled with hurt, but there was also worry in her eyes. She clearly did not want to cause her husband any trouble. Lisa took a closer look and the woman's belly was actually kind of cute, and she felt just a little guilty for slamming the door on her future niece or nephew, but she was angry at the time so she did not think to care. Lisa looked at her sister-in-law a little while longer, she was wearing blue overalls and a white shirt. The overalls must have been made for an expecting woman, because they cradled her belly and made it look bigger than it was. She may not have liked her sister-in-law, but she had to admit she was an adorable looking woman.

Lisa looked at her brother's face and had never seen him look so angry. He jerked his hands free of his wife and shouted at her. The woman took two steps back in fear, she looked as though she had never been shouted at by her husband in front of others, and she was not taking it well. Lisa scoffed. It served the busy body right. Lisa looked at her brother again and narrowed her eyes.

"Is there any reason why you are glaring at me?" she said. Kace was livid. She had the nerve to ask.

"Li, I was standing here the whole time. You completely disrespected my wife and by doing so you have disrespected me." Lisa looked at her brother and arched her eyebrow. Lisa was not overly concerned with his remarks.

"Since you no longer feel the need to respect me or this family, I will not hold my tongue," He said. "Yesterday, father transferred full ownership of the company over to me. I am now the president and largest shareholder of all the Anders' businesses and corporations." Lisa's eyes grew wide.

"Is this true? Why haven't I heard anything about it?" Kace smiled coldly before answering.

"You haven't heard about it because it has nothing to do with the Lee family." Lisa felt like she had been smacked. She could not deny that her attention had been more focused toward the Lee family, especially in the last few years. She had only one year left before she had passed the prime age for marriage.

"Okay brother, you've made your point, now why are you telling me this?" The expression of anger left Kace's face and he stood up straight and poised. In that moment she remembered the brother that she wanted to emulate, but it was gone with his next sentence.

"I have sent you an email detailing various business you run. Our family will no longer support that hobby of yours. Get back to me once you have reviewed the file." Lisa's face took on a look of concern. She knew that she had recently fired half of her staff and as a result that business was hemorrhaging funds badly. She had been busy with Ian, so she had not gotten around to correcting it. Lisa watched her brother walk in the direction of his wife as if she were the most important person in the world. Out of anger, she decided to get to the email in her own time.
