Chapter 90: Brave

At dinner, Ian noticed that Mina was once again, not at the table. Since he was working from home, he had been consistent with his meals and was looking forward to seeing her tonight. He wanted to formally explain his relationship to Lisa in front of both Mina and his sister.

"Where is Mina?" he asked, and his nan explained that Mina was not well enough to come to dinner. Ruby knew that the girl was lying, she just did not want to come face to face with either sibling. Hearing this, Ian picked up his phone and made a quick call. He scheduled a doctor's appointment for Mina in the morning. If she wanted to fake being sick, he would play along.

"She's useless if she is dead." He told his sister, but he did not let his nan hear his comment. Ian knew she would be worried about the girl if she did.

----

In the morning, Mina was served an early breakfast by Miss Ruby. Tired, she ate slowly and stared out of the window. She fantasized about all the ways she planned to destroy President Lee, and her weapon of choice, always seemed to be a fork. At 6AM, the woman returned to the room and instructed Mina to get ready for the day. Mina had no plans other than to sleep, so she did not understand why she needed to get dressed. She assumed this was some sort of punishment for what she said to President Lee yesterday, but she no longer cared. Since the siblings planned to bite her with their words, it was only natural for her to bite back.

----

When Mina exited the shower, she noticed another woman had been called to the room by Miss Ruby. Without an introduction the woman instructed Mina to sit, then she began to trim and style her hair. The unknown woman was about to apply makeup to Mina's face, but Mina refused.

"I don't wear makeup,'' Mina said, but both Ruby and the stylist glared at her with eyes so fierce, she gave in. Miss Ruby instructed the woman to use only mascara, eyeliner, and lip gloss. The stylist had to admit that the girl really did not need anything more.

Miss Ruby handed Mina an outfit to change into; Mina noted that the woman had style. Mina was not a fan of dresses but the knit sweater dress she was now wearing, fell below the knee and its long sleeves made her feel completely covered. The brown knee-high boots Mina was given to wear covered the little bit of her leg that showed. Mina's knees were exposed as she walked, but it did not bother her because they were easily covered by the extra-long cream-colored jacket she wore. Mina still had no idea where she was going when she descended the stairs.

Miss Ruby trailed behind Mina like a proud mother as she escorted her into a waiting car. A few seconds later, the door opened again, and President Lee's long muscular leg entered the small space. Mina, who was feeling surprisingly good a second ago, now felt disgusted with herself. She really hated President Lee and now it seemed he was forcing her to accompany him somewhere. He was dressed so elegantly too. Had it not been for his sister buying her new clothes, and his Nan sending someone to give her a makeover, she would have looked like a beggar next to him. The thought made Mina huff.

As soon as the door was shut, the pleasant aroma of sandalwood filled the air, and Mina scoffed in annoyance. Pressing herself against the opposite door, Mina mumbled something under her breath.

"Do you have something to say?" President Lee asked, but Mina denied saying anything.

The entire car ride continued that way. The longer she sat next to him, the more she hated him, he was ruining one of her favorite scents too.

----

After what felt like an eternity, the car stopped in front of a hospital and President Lee coldly told Mina to get out. She grunted and stepped out of the car just as she was told. She secretly wished a car would hit her, but there was no moving traffic on her side of the road.

"What are we here for?" Mina asked.

"You said you were sick right? You're here to see a doctor." Mina rolled her eyes. She was sick; sick of him, his sister and everything else. Ian saw Mina roll her eyes at him and he felt that he had seen wrong.

"Did you roll your eyes at me?" He asked, but the girl strutted into the hospital without a word. Every man inside of the building turned to look at her when she came in. A male nurse quickly made himself available to help her. He figured that the woman was there to visit a relative.

"Hello beautiful, what brings you to our facility today?" Mina looked at President Lee and in a sarcastic tone said,

"He says I'm sick." The nurse turned toward where Mina was pointing and stumbled back a bit. He recognized the man right away. The hospital belonged to the Lee family. Now, the nurse was regretting openly trying to flirt with the woman who walked in. President Lee was giving the nurse a death stare as he spoke.

"Is there something beautiful about this woman?" He asked, and Mina snorted. If he were trying to insult her, it would not work. Whether she was beautiful or not was of no concern to her. Her face did not stop her from being poor or hungry. Feeling bad for the nurse, Mina chimed in.

"Don't worry about him. He was probably born a jerk," She said. The nurse did not even look up, he pretended to get a page and left. Mina shrugged.

"See? You scared away the nurse."

"Oh, you're brave today?" President Lee said.

"I can't live forever," Mina replied coldly. She was hoping to antagonize the man into killing her. Not even a full minute had passed, when another nurse, who was also familiar with President Lee, sashayed her way toward the pair and put on a flirtatious smile.

"President Lee, I didn't see your name on the chart today. What brings you in?" Mina waved to indicate that she was the reason.

"And you are?" Ian could sense the double meaning behind the nurse's words, and he cut her off.

"Tell the director I'm here," he said, and he walked away. Mina slowly followed behind him. She was intentionally trying to piss him off. Last night, she went to bed angry and when she woke up, she was attacked by two old ladies with makeup, all so he could pay her back for pretending to be sick.

On the way to the hospital, it took every fiber of Mina's being not to attack President Lee in the car and it was mostly because she knew that she would not be able to overpower him. Once they arrived at the facility, she thought about running, but he was probably faster than her too. She told herself that she would do her best not to return to the mansion. Maybe if she annoyed him enough, he would kill her on the spot.
