Chapter 313: Unimpressed

When Cylus and Lisa were seeing one another, he had made several connections within the Anders family businesses. Even after their ties were severed, Cylus' retained those connections and it was through them that he was able to find that Lisa had visited a Lee family hospital. He knew it was a bit of a stretch, but the tip was as good a place to look for Mina as any.

Wanting to exchange a favor for a favor, Cylus contacted his many times removed cousin, Tavin, and all but begged the man to use his credentials to see if Mina had been admitted to the Lee family hospital. After a small amount of resistance, Tavin finally agreed, but it was only after Cylus sent him on a guilt trip.

Tavin was unable to locate Mina by name, but he was able to find a woman that matched Mina's description at the same location where Lisa had been taken. Cylus' immediate thought was that the two women had gotten into a fight that had turned extremely violent, maybe even deadly.

Knowing that Lisa was no fan of Mina, Cylus' brain automatically went to some sort of disfiguration. However, that would not have accounted for why both women were in the hospital. Unless of course, both women had injured one another to the point of needing medical attention, and if that were the case, Cylus doubted Mina would be given adequate care.

Without knowing what the other planned to do, both men headed to the hospital independently, and they arrived just minutes after one another. Cylus had decided on leaving Olivia behind, because he did not want her to freak out if Mina was in a bad condition. His cousin had been worried about Mina's safety since she had discovered Mina had been slapped, and he did not want her to glue herself to the woman in fear.

Cylus tried to flirt his way into Mina's ward without success. Although the nurse was interested, she was a professional and she refused to allow Cylus entry, even though he claimed to be a relative. There was also the fact that Mina was not admitted under her own name, and Cylus could not guess what name had been used. He had even tried to use 'Mina Lee' but was only met with a warning glance.

----

Tavin walked straight into the hospital and was immediately greeted by a few nurses who recognized him. He had often visited the Lee family hospital in search of Luna, or to use medical equipment that was inconvenient to move or unnecessary to purchase. The hospital was only a few minutes' walk away from the lab where Tavin worked, and some of the staff members at either facility were interchangeable.

Not wanting to raise suspicion, Tavin first asked after Luna, which was his normal routine. The nurse who was speaking to him pouted before she told him that Luna had gone into the VIP ward. Aware that he was pushing his luck and jeopardizing his position, Tavin tried to appear nonchalant.

"How is the patient President Lee brought in?" he asked, but the nurse was unaware. She told him that only select individuals were allowed into the woman's room. "Then why am I here?" Tavin asked aloud, trying to make it seem as if he had been summoned.

Aware of the general area where Mina was, Tavin told the nurse he was going to grab a coffee from the lobby. He did not want to implicate the woman any further, and he could always make his way into the hospital through the visitor's entrance. As he walked toward the cafe, Tavin saw Cylus chatting with a giggling nurse. He knew exactly what the man was trying to do, and he also knew it would not work.

Tavin walked up to the flirting pair and cleared his throat.

"Dr. Cylus, I already told you that you can't flirt your way into a Lee facility. Just pay me and admit you lost the bet." Cylus was unable to place the voice he heard coming from behind him, but once he turned to see Tavin, he went along with the act.

"Am I late? Have you already seen the patient?" Although Cylus was acting, his questions were real.

"Not yet, let's go up to her ward now." Without allowing the nurse at the station time to process, the two men walked into the hospital. Cylus felt slightly guilty for the woman, who he was sure would be fired, but he made a mental note to send her enough money to cover her salary for the year.

Before the men could get into the private ward, Tavin had to flash his badge to a few burly men in hospital scrubs. They were likely trained as emergency paramedics, which meant they had both medical and combat training. The men were at first shocked to see Dr. Bell, but considering that the man worked directly with Miss Luna, they ignored his unexpected arrival.

Cylus once again felt guilty, but he would not extend his monetary kindness to the only two men protecting Mina. It was their job to keep intruders out, and they had failed. Sure, Mina was in no real danger, but they did not know that.

So far, Cylus was unimpressed with the Lee family. He was almost expecting more of a challenge, but he had gotten in relatively unimpeded, and he wondered if Mina's safety was a real priority to the Lee's at all. To Cylus it made no sense, Mina said that President Lee was trying to protect her, but everything he witnessed told him otherwise.

The first time Cylus had met Mina was when she was being verbally assaulted by a woman named Maggie from the Arden family, and when he tried to contact her after that, she appeared to have been dehydrated while staying at the Lee mansion. Mina was likely being beaten by President Lee, and she had even been assaulted while her security detail was on duty.

As the men approached one of the private rooms on the floor, they could hear what seemed to be an argument. Tavin's name had been tossed around several times before he heard President Lee state that Mina had not been on a date with the man. Tavin's pace slowed in his confusion, but he still entered the room.

----

Mina was startled to see Dr. Bell in her hospital room, and even more startled to see Cylus. She quickly pulled her bedding over her face. She was both embarrassed and ashamed. Not just because of the bruising, but because of what she had said to Luna. Mina was so angry that she lied on the innocent man, without cause or care and she worried he may have overheard.

"Who let you in here?" President Lee asked. He was angry that Mina's safety had been jeopardized yet again, but he already knew that Cylus had most likely hitched a ride with Dr. Bell, who he was half glad to see. Cylus tried to rush toward Mina, but President Lee literally pushed him away. Mina could hear Zane move toward the men, likely to separate them, but she kept her head under the blankets.

"What did you do to her?" Cylus asked.

"Shut up," President Lee growled as a reply. Mina could imagine President Lee being held by Zane and Cylus being held by Dr. Bell. She took a small peek around the bedding and saw that her guess was right.
