Chapter 314: Dr. Bell

Luna was absolutely shocked to see Tavin. Cylus was a surprise, but he was one of the men who was chasing behind Mina, Tavin on the other hand was a heart wrenching arrival. Luna was so obsessed with the man, that even though she knew he had moved on, it was hard to witness.

When the men were calm, it was Tavin who spoke. He first explained to President Lee how and why he had abused his credentials. Cylus added the next bit of information, leaving out the fact that he had contacts within the Anders corporation, and jumping straight to the fact that his business associate was hospitalized, and he wanted to make sure it would not affect his investment.

It was a cruel way to explain his relationship to Lisa, but President Lee had no idea of the past relationship, so to him it made sense.

"Lisa is fine," President Lee said through gritted teeth. "And Mina will be okay." Cylus did not like that President Lee was answering for Mina. He had seen her face, it was a swollen mess of pinks, reds, and purples.

"Why did I hear my name come up?" Tavin asked. "Was Mina hurt because of me?"

"No!" Mina said loudly from under her cover. "It was your ex-girlfriend."

"Liz?" Tavin questioned aloud, but then he remembered Mina telling him that Luna thought they had been a couple.

"Dr. Bell, I'm actually glad you are here," President Lee said. His tone was not exactly mocking, but it was not friendly either. Mina peeked her head from under the bedding, afraid of what the man could and might do.

"What can I help you with?" Tavin asked suspiciously.

"You met with Mina not too long ago. Would you mind telling us why you wanted to meet?"

"Sure; I wanted to thank Mina for saving my life." Luna was confused and worried by Tavin's words.

"What happened to you? When were you in danger?" She asked. Tavin did not want to answer, but he had a feeling that there was some sort of misunderstanding involving himself and the girl who was lying in a hospital bed.

"I was drugged at the Rue family charity event. Mina got me into a private room, and she found someone reliable to help me." Luna looked pale. She remembered Mina coming to her with a frantic expression on her face that night, and because she was jealous, she had berated the girl before sending her away.

"But Mina said you were on a date," Luna replied, and Tavin looked toward Mina in bewilderment.

"She probably said that because you put her up for auction," Zane offered. Cylus looked from Mina to Luna, first in accusation, then in understanding.

"Did you attack her because you thought she was dating your ex?" Cylus asked, but he was answered by Tavin.

"She isn't my ex. We never dated," Tavin said very expressively.

"What are you talking about?" Luna asked.

"I mean you and I were never a couple. When did we ever make our relationship official? I chased you around for two years, and in all that time, had we ever hugged? Had we ever kissed? What made you think you were my girlfriend?" He asked. Tavin was unkind with how he spoke, and both Ian and Zane shot him warning looks. Even Cylus had to look at the man questionably. Not because he liked Luna, but because if anyone had spoken to his cousin in that way, he would have punched them.

"Please stop arguing," Mina said weakly. "I didn't help the situation with my words." Mina was not speaking on behalf of Luna, but she needed Dr. Bell to calm down. Though her eyes were still puffy, she could clearly see how the three men were looking at him, and even she knew he was being a little insensitive.

Cylus used Mina's small addition to the conversation as an excuse to move closer to her. He gently pulled on the blankets, wanting to get a better look at her face, but Mina was holding the bedding tightly. She refused to be seen.

"Olivia ran into Peter," Cylus said softly, and Mina threw the blankets away.

"Is she okay? Did he hurt her?" Mina asked, and she saw Cylus wince at her injuries. "You liar," she shouted as she pushed her head back under the covers, but Cylus had already seen all he needed to see.

"What happened to her?" he asked. Knowing that Mina would not tell him the truth. Tavin used the opportunity to slide out of the room. Whatever was going on between the trio of men was none of his business. Furthermore, he did not want to look at Luna's new boyfriend for another second.

----

Luna watched Tavin slip out of the room, and she could not stop herself from following him. She literally peppered him with questions that went completely unanswered until she stepped directly in front of him with her arms outstretched. She told the man that she would not allow him to leave until he explained what he meant, but she did not realize how angry Tavin was, or how brutal his words were going to be.

"You have to be the most arrogant woman I know. How many people think I cheated on you?" He asked. There was a hint of annoyance in his voice.

"You didn't answer my question. Is what you said back there true?" Tavin did not hold back.

"You have never been anything other than a good friend to me. Yes, I started dating Liz to make you jealous, because I thought that if you saw me with someone else, it would give you motivation, but no, you waited until after you started dating that playboy back there to start a fight; with the wrong woman no less." Luna winced at the description of Zane.

"Zane isn't my boyfriend; he is my brother's best friend and like a brother to me." Tavin stared at her for a long time before he chuckled.

"So that day that Liz joined us for a meal; did you ask him to lie to me?" Tavin questioned, but Luna had no clue what he was talking about. Realization dawned on Tavin. "You don't even know do you?"

Back then, Tavin had tried to chase after Luna, but he was first stopped by a waitress, and then stopped by the man he now knew was her brother's best friend. The man had asked him to stay away from Luna, he said that he was a 'close' friend that followed her to see what she was doing. Not wanting to get Luna into more trouble than she was already in, Tavin gave up, and when Luna did not contact him, he figured she was out of danger.

"Let me explain. I was jealous. I was so jealous that Liz had stolen all the first that I thought belonged to me and I am sorry, I was wrong okay? Can you give me another chance?" Luna asked. She did not think Tavin would be completely unmoved by her humble apology.

"First? Luna, once again; your arrogance shocks me. What makes you think Liz was my first anything? I was in college two years before you arrived." Luna turned red at the revelation. She did not know how she had gotten the idea that Tavin had never dated before her. "I think this is a good time for us to part ways," Tavin said.

Without another word, he walked away leaving a stunned silent Luna in his wake. He did not know the woman he had once loved had it in her to be so cruel and the pedestal he had built for her, had come crashing down.
