Chapter 458: My Girl

Mina and Mills had been upstairs for over an hour, and Ian was beginning to worry. Dinner had long ago ended, and he wanted everyone to leave. The evening had not gone the way he had planned, and Ian desperately wanted to make things up to Mina. He had ruined her birthday, and he was glad that he would get another chance to impress her in February.

After moving to the sitting room, Ian sent Luna to check on the women, but she too had been gone for a while, and he wondered if he should go and check on them himself. The problem was Lisa, who had wrapped her arm around Ian's in a possessive manner. He had already warned her of his feelings about PDA, but she either ignored him or did not care. Ian whispered his discomfort in her ear, before she reluctantly let go, but she stayed seated so close that it did not matter.

"Draxy, are you here?" Called out Mills. She entered the sitting room pulling Mina behind her and all four men stood, taking in the sight of the sexily dressed women.

"Um, Mills?" Drax said his girlfriend's name as a question. The way she was dressed was both turning him on and pissing him off, which left him unable to form a sentence.

"Mina and I are going to a bar. We will be back on time," she said before pulling Mina behind her.

"You can't go alone. It's dangerous," Ian called out to the women, and he was glad that Drax backed him up. The truth was that he knew Mina was likely to run, and he wanted to watch her properly. Ian was sure that Drax just did not want his girlfriend to go out dressed so seductively.

That too was on the mind of Ian. He had seen Mina in all manner of clothing, even pajamas, but he had only seen her in a short dress twice if he included the one she was wearing, and both times made his imagination run wild. Ian made up an excuse of why the women could not leave, but Lisa interjected, telling him that he was being overly cautious. Ian had never wanted to tell Lisa to shut up so badly, but because of her mental state, he held his tongue.

"I will go with them," Zane offered, and Drax and Cameron seconded him.

"Ian, you stay here with your girlfriend," Cameron said, and Ian narrowed his eyes. He knew what his cousin was doing, and he knew it would work. Fortunately, Lisa spoke up.

"If you three are going there is no reason why Ian and I should stay behind." Ian was aware that Lisa was looking out for her own interest. He knew her well enough to know that there was no way she would allow Mina and Mills to go out and celebrate with the nation's President without taking part. The bragging rights were unending.

Mina on the other hand, could not believe when she heard Lisa agree to join, and just like that, her plans were thwarted. She looked down at her outfit and felt completely exposed. The only thing stopping her from dropping dead in shame was the fact that compared to Mills, she was dressed conservatively.

"I should go change."

"No!" Mills shouted. She then pulled Mina in front of her and Mina was unable to resist, as the tall woman was pulling on her bad arm. "Doesn't she look great?" she asked out loud, not really addressing her question to anyone, but all four men answered in the affirmative.

----

Mina found herself uncomfortably seated between Zane and President Cameron at a bar table. She had been to the place before, and in truth she was glad Luna had chosen it. There was a good chance she would run into Cylus at one of his own establishments, and Mina was fully prepared to run away with the man.

"Do you want a drink?" Cameron asked, but Mina ignored him. "Come on, I did not know it was your birthday. Have a drink with me and we can talk politics all night if you want." Ian kicked his cousin's leg from under the table, and as soon as Cameron looked at him, he shook his head.

"Drink this," Mills said, handing Mina a small glass filled with clear liquid. "It's your birthday, be free." Mina noticed that Mills was switching between Sani and Panglish, and she knew the woman suspected her. She told herself to be careful in the future.

"Mina does not handle liquor well," President Lee added, and Mina downed the glass with his words. He was the one who wanted to play, she would play too.

"That was a mistake," Zane said, and Mina nodded.

"So is my life," Mina smiled, but Zane did not find her words funny.

About twenty minutes later, Mina and Mills were sitting close to one another, laughing while exchanging secrets. Cameron was sitting across from them, and while Mina had stopped being hostile toward him, she did not hesitate to remind him that she was not his fan. He was still able to engage her in conversation, and in her tipsy state, she eventually accepted his apology.

Mills pulled Mina out of her stool and onto the dance floor. She asked the woman to dance with her, but Mina claimed not to know how. Her liquid courage was fueling her, but she felt awkward as Mills tried to show her how to move her body. Mina tried duplicating what she was seeing, but Mills shook her head and hugged Mina from behind, making their bodies sway at the same pace.

Ian who had been watching suddenly turned pale. Mills was pretty and Mina was beautiful, it did not take long for them to turn heads. Especially with the way they were moving with one another.

"You should tell your girlfriend that people in Pan don't dance that way," Ian said, and Drax shrugged.

"So long as no one touches her, it is fine with me."

"Are you sure Mills is your girlfriend?" Cameron asked. "Because it looks to me like she is going home with Mina tonight." That finally got Drax's attention. He got up and pulled the giggling Mills away from Mina, pressing a kiss on the woman's lips as he did. Mina looked away, turning bright red at the display. Drax turned to face Mina who backed up when the man closed the distance between them.

"Are you trying to steal my girlfriend?" He asked, making Mina laugh. Although he was large, his facial expression was friendly, and it helped put Mina at ease.

"How tall are you?" Curious from the very beginning, Mina could no longer hold her question. She never got an answer because Zane pulled her away from Drax. He escorted the woman back to their table, making it at the same time as President Lee and President Cameron returned from wherever they had stepped away to.

"I ordered you a drink," Cameron said, but Mina refused to drink it. She had not been at the table when the drink was ordered, and it had been left unattended with Miss Lisa. Still tipsy, and no longer in the mood to care about a person's feelings, Mina told Cameron exactly why she would not drink.

"Are you serious?" Lisa asked, clearly offended.

"I wouldn't have said it otherwise." Lisa was beyond insulted by Mina's accusation, but not because it did not cross her mind, but because she was smarter than that.

"What would I gain by drugging you?" Lisa asked, but before Mina could answer, President Cameron picked up the drink with the intention to down it. He had known Lisa for a few years, and he saw his actions as a method to impress Mina, but Ian snatched the drink from him and swallowed it without pause.

"You shouldn't have done that." Mina warned, but at the same time, she admired the trust the man had for his woman.
