From a Princess's View... (Caroline)

As I made my speech, I shook. So many people. After I was done I looked at my dad. Was that good enough? I mouthed. He nodded. He kindly took the attention back from me. I stood next to my mother, trying to copy her pose. She was a very elegant and proper woman. As the princess, I was expected to be the same. At the end of his speech I left the area. There were so many people, far more than what I had seen in the small villages I had visited in secret. I was relieved to see that most of them left once the ball started. I was still left with several hundred guys to choose from. I had to go out sooner or later, and the more time the better. I took a deep breath and entered the ball room.

People stopped chatting and turned. Music turned on, and the boys created a line leading to me. The first guy talked about how he wanted to be a doctor because he cared about people and this kingdom. He also talked about how pretty he thought I was. His hobbies included bird watching, photography, and he worked as a dish-washer at an inn. Boring. I know some boring is good for the kingdom, but this… Aaron, he was getting too boring to listen to. I felt bad, I could tell he was trying, but it kept getting worse. I ended our slow dance and went on to the next person. I think he said his name was Barkley? He was about fencing, politics, and poetry. Maybe? He was more about free stuff, didn't realize it would impact taxes. He seemed a little full of himself and not the most intelligent, despite his hobbies. Next. Geoffrey. Austin. Marco. Mason. Rin. It went on. The crowd dispersed a little because people got bored, or for other reasons. Some ate. Some seeked restrooms. A couple people were not in line to begin with. One sat with food, one on a couch, some standing around. Most of the guys were the same. Trying to come up with things to impress, but either not really educated in the matter or just making stuff up as they go. They wanted jobs, or a pretty wife. Power or money. Some people were outright on what they enjoyed, some were not bad.

Lucas, a light brunette guy with hazel eyes that had enjoyed baking, liked to read and write in his spare time, and he was an actor for pay. He was a bit bubbly and he seemed sweet. He had a pet german shepherd. His favorite thing to bake was between cupcakes and cookies. His favorite dessert was, however, something in the danish family. Another guy, a dark featured guy with grey eyes named Niko, liked to know how to fight and defend himself, but didn't actually enjoy fighting. He had a nice voice, but he was more quiet and serious. He wanted to go into something more business related. I liked a couple more as well.
