The Replacement

Fuck this.

Cathryn stomped her foot in frustration.

Just when she thought she finally found someone to replace Edward.

Fifteen minutes ago, she got her eye on some random Italian dude prancing around the shores like a stag in mating season. That lock of his wavy dark brown hair which fell over his forehead as he pushed it back definitely earned hot points from her. He was exactly the type who liked to show off to the female species.

The hard and defined ridges of his stomach are made to impress the girls.

Cathryn watched him clinically with mild interest.

Dude is not her type but he was a fine specimen. She could imagine drawing black, exquisite wings at his super broad back. Girls buy the fallen angel concept and he had the Italian bad boy looks.

In her mind, Cathryn was already partying, fireworks and confetti exploding in her head. She imagined the things she could do with the 5,000 dollars.

Oh god! She could pay her art courses and other expenses now considering her parents hadn't supported her with her passion for it. She could add the prize to her savings and use the extra money to travel to a tropical country, you know, for inspiration.

And now Cathryn completely lost him. She lost her chance of winning. Her money fantasies shattered at the moment.

Cathryn got thirsty chasing after his beautifully tanned hide a while ago so she went to a nearby cafe and bought a strawberry milkshake in a hurry as she waited for him, waiting for that chance to get him alone.

Well, she could say it's a bit of her fault, but god, how can he disappear so fast? Last time she saw him he was calling out to someone at the beach talking to another dude and then he went poof, just like that. Gone. Without alerting her.

Oh well, there goes her target.

Cathryn sucked at the cold concoction hard until there's nothing left but ice. She crushed the plastic container and threw it at the nearest trash can. She bit her lip, determined as she spotted another target. Her large eyes zeroed in at the other guy walking in her direction.

This guy was distracted, repeatedly combing his dark blond hair, his lips curled into an annoyed frown.

Wow, what a beautiful face it was! When the guy spotted her, his eyes widened and his frown lifted into a what-do-we-have-here grin.

As a lover of art, she experienced a wave of female appreciation. His eyes were bright amber, honey mixed with cinnamon, and fused with a fire surrounded by decadent lashes. His skin looked as if it had been dipped in a pot of caramel that if she was a poet she could write a million poems about it which Cathryn isn't.

She was an artist.

Cathryn imagined decorating mafia-like black and red Chinese dragons at his broad chest that would reach further to his flexed arms. That would add some deliciously dangerous vibes to his playful character.

She will win with that pretty face of him rather than the Italian.

Cathryn smiled evilly and without thinking, she charged at him like a bull in the arena ready for a fight.
