Escape to Library

"Are you going to the Benefit Concert?" Justin asked Cathryn as she noticed two of their teachers had gotten into the elevator with them. She smiled politely before answering, "Nope. I'm going to change into my pajamas and stay at the library until the end."

Out of the corner of her eye, Cathryn saw one female teacher sent her a disapproving look at her statement.

"Why? Afraid to see your summer fling?" Edward teased her and she rolled her eyes.

"We just met, hung out for a while, and parted ways," Cathryn told him.

Here we go again. She was so done with this conversation.

"Shouldn't you be one of the girls screaming for him fighting for his attention?" Edward said. "Trust me, he will notice you. Your red hair could stand out in a crowd."

Alexander may be an occasional visitor in her dreams for the past six months but that wouldn't mean she missed him or wanted to see him again. A human subconscious mind worked in mysterious ways.

Cathryn didn't know why he was still in her mind. There must be something about him. Maybe he bewitched her or maybe it was in his kisses that which had an addictive flavor to it that her mind hadn't been able to move on.

He was her first, second, third kiss, after all.

"I assure you. " Cathryn insisted. "As I said, he wasn't interested to see me again."

Ever since she sent a picture of Alex and her in Edward's chatbox, Cathryn was being hounded for more information about the cute guy who had his arm around her shoulders.

Cathryn knew her best friend couldn't help himself for being gay and his attraction to the opposite sex. She guessed Alexander was his new crush.

It was a pity since she couldn't be the one who will serve as a 'wingwoman' between Edward and his new crush's future love story.

Cathryn refused to take part in choosing Edward's next boy toy especially the ones that she knew of.

Ew.

"I'm sure he will be ecstatic to see you since he picked our school for their band's Benefit Concert," Justin added quickly.

"It's just a coincidence okay?" Cathryn explained, frustrated. "It's not me who he wants to see here."

"But—"

"Argh! I know this is one of your tactics. You're going to bring me along with the Benefit Concert, make me your bait, and offer me to them so that you could meet the boys. I'll be forced to introduce you to all of them. You will flirt with them and you will push me aside after the job is done." Instead of shouting, she kept her tone amused so that Edward wouldn't know how affected she was from this whole ordeal.

She would be embarrassed to see Alexander, the famous vocalist of the Mild Savagery, and his bandmates again. Cathryn will remember the time she slapped him in front of everyone and insulted him a hundred times last summer.

The visions kept on coming back that her fingers can't help but curl from cringing in chagrin. Alexander always haunted her in her dreams. She didn't know what to do if they ever come face-to-face. No. Thank you.

"Please, Cat." Edward pleaded with his puppy light grey eyes. "This is a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of thing. Introduce us so that we could take a selfie with them. You're friends, right?"

"We aren't friends, okay?" Cathryn insisted.

Famewhores.

"Then, acquaintances?"

"No. I don't want to see him ever again."

"But you have pictures together! You get along. Even for a short time." Justin grinned wickedly. "You haven't deleted the pictures in your gallery. I saw your lock screen wallpaper. It was him!"

Cathryn grimaced. She was caught.

So these two were checking out her phone and gallery photos without her permission? This was an invasion of her privacy but still, Cathryn tried to keep her cool!

The more Cathryn showed them her irritation, the more they will likely to tease her. That's what friends are.

"No. We were never close." She lied with a straight-face. "We were perfect strangers after that."

Cathryn would dig a hole in the ground and bury her humiliation there. She would hide in the library and would only come out when the Benefit Concert at the theatre ended but most importantly when all of them are out of the school gates.

"We never contact each other so don't expect any introduction from me."

And with that, the elevator doors opened and Cathryn stepped out onto the floor, leaving Justin and Edward, into the library that awaits her.
