Chapter Seven-Unknown

You know what you are supposed to do. They're in school right now but won't be for much longer. Keep your distance and don't draw attention to yourself.

Mom, I've got this. I left my own pack to do this job. You're treating me like a kid.

            Because you still are.

I'm a three hundred- and eighty six-year-old alpha that leads a pack with over twenty other Shifters in it. I'm not that young.

            Enough, Scarlet. Focus.

Scarlet rolled her eyes, it's not like anyone is going to stare at me. I will practically blend in.

You have short, bright red hair, glowing green eyes, your outfit makes you look gothic, and not to mention what's on your—

I got it. I look a little different. But it's the 21st century here. This is a common style here actually. She explained as she strolled through the forest.

Her mother sighed, just be careful.

            I will.

Scarlet continued her way through the woods. And soon later came up behind the twins' house. The energy wasn't present. It was probably because they weren't home. She walked through the yard then dashed across the clearing, making sure no one saw her from inside the house. There was a wide gravel path that led to the main road. It seemed deserted and very silent so she began walking in the direction of the local town. She then heard a car driving up behind her.  It sounded like it was a mile away but it was coming in her direction.

Once it finally reached her, the vehicle slowed down to her speed and the driver, a young boy, rolled down the window.

"Hey beautiful, need a ride?" The boy asked with a gross smile.

"No." She said, then hid the left side of her face with her hair, and kept walking a little faster.

"Oh, c'mon now. What's a pretty girl like you doing out here all alone?" He grinned.

"First, I'm trying to get away from you. You're wasting your time on me. And second, I wouldn't mess with me if I were you. I'm no ordinary 'pretty girl'." Scarlet grinned still not showing the boy the side of her face.

"What do I have to be afraid of?" He asked sarcastically.

She laughed maniacally, came to a halt, then turned her face towards him, "Me."

The boy's smile disappeared and he stopped the car, "What the...what's your name?" He dared to ask.

"The name's Scarlet. And I suggest you step on it before I give you one just like it." Her voice grew deep as she threatened him.

He didn't hesitate and accelerated off down the road.

"That's what I thought." She growled as her eyes glowed green in the rear-view mirror.
