Devil Work Begins

(Y/N)'s POV

As I continued jumping off roofs and landing in front of houses delivering flyers for Rias, I remembered what she had told me before I had left.

Flashback

"(Y/N), before you head out, make sure you keep your eyes open for any other fallen angels. But do not interfere." She demanded.

I stopped packing my flyers, only to give Rias a quizzical look. "Why? You know I can take 'em." I justified.

"Just because you're a devil and you know how to fight, that doesn't mean you're invincible." She informed.

"Yeah, I know. I just think that in the worst-case scenario, I need to defend myself at least."

"I understand." She remained silent for a short while, as if she was thinking. I didn't pay too much attention to it so I continued packing my bag with flyer packs. "(Y/N), lend me your hand." She orders. I look at her with a confused look on my face, but did what she said anyway.

"Um...okay?" I extend my left hand to her and she circles my palm with her finger, summoning a bizarre, red symbol on it.

"There." Rias states as she stops running her finger on my palm.

"What's this?" I asked as I looked at the new sigil on my palm.

"That symbol is my family crest. It lets others know that you now belong to me." Her explanation made me feel a little uneasy, I understood fully what she meant, it just sounded weird.

"Oh, thanks." I simply said. I still couldn't understand the fact that I had to deliver flyers. "Hard to believe that my first job as a devil is being a paperboy." I muttered lightly under my breath. Honestly, I didn't mind. I'm used to it, hell, I had to do part-time jobs all the time just to pay rent on my house. Before I knew it, I felt a soft hand stroking my cheek. I look over and see that it was Rias, and she was smiling.

"You may be a paperboy, but you're my paperboy. Come on (Y/N) there'll be a prize at the end if you do it." She seductively incised.

"Oh yeah? What kind of prize?" I ask. 'Honestly, I'm worried about what that may be...' I worried to myself. I didn't want it regardless of what it was.

"It's a surprise." Rias smiled at me as she continued to stroke and rub my cheek. Before I could ask her to let me go deliver the flyers, I heard the door burst open, catching everyone's immediate attention. I looked over and saw someone I haven't seen in quite a while.

"WHERE IS HE?!" He roared, sounding completely panicked. He jerked his head around frantically, looking for something. He and I soon make eye contact, filling the air in awkward silence. "S'up?" He greeted casually with a wave of his hand.

"You little-" I rose up and stomped over to him. The instant I reached him, I slammed my fist into his face, sending him flying and falling to the floor with a loud thud.

"Ow..." He whined as he rubbed his cheek, which was red and swollen. "What was that for?!" He asked irritated. When he looked up, his expression went from angry to scared.

Understandable, because I was giving him the most vicious death glare I could muster. "That's what you get for not telling me you were a devil." I scowled coldly.

Issei looked down with a saddened expression. "I'm sorry." He mumbled.

"For what? Not telling me what was going on? I was worried sick about you, you jerk." I explained.

"What?" He asked.

"You haven't been acting like yourself lately, I thought something was wrong. But now I that I know it was this, I don't know whether to be pissed or relieved."

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't tell you even if I wanted to." Issei explained.

"Please don't get angry at Issei, (Y/N). He was just following orders." Rias interjected.

"Orders?" I looked to Rias with a confused look.

"That's right. Remember when I said that if we are discovered, we alter or even erase memories of the ones close to the one discovered?"

When she brought that up, I remembered that she had said that before. Now I understood Issei's situation. "I got it now. I'm sorry for getting so worked up." I apologized as I bowed slightly to my friend.

"It's okay. If the situation were reversed, I'm sure you'd do the same, right?" He asked me as he placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah, I would."

"So...we good?" He asked as he raises a fist to me. I smiled and lightly slammed my fist with his.

"Yeah, we're good." I replied.

"I'm glad you two patched things up, but it's time for you to get going (Y/N)." Rias interrupted again.

"Right, sorry Master." I said as I walk to my bag filled with flyers. I picked it up and proceeded to leave the club room. "See you in a bit." I bid farewell as I closed the door behind me.

Present

"Sometimes I wonder why I even try to make sense of things." I sighed to myself.

I quietly landed in front of another house and place another pack of flyers in the mailbox. Once I did I immediately jump off again, landing on another roof. I get that the bag was significantly lighter than when I started so I looked inside. When I did I saw that the bag was completely empty.

'Well, job's done. Guess I'll head back.' I thought to myself as I jumped from roof to roof faster than before.

Time Skip

"I'm finished with my deliveries!" I announced loudly, wondering if someone would answer.

"Great work. Now before you go home I want you to do one more thing." Said Rias.

"Okay, and what's that?" I asked her. Honestly, if flyer delivery is all that I have to do, I think I could handle a little something else.

"Koneko is double-booked for a summon request so I'd like you to take one for her and help her out."

"That'd be super rad." Koneko boredly thanked as she bowed.

"Yeah sure, no prob. Just do what you gotta do kid. Don't worry, I'll take one off your hands for ya." I reassured with a smile. Question is, how would I get there? "Um, how exactly would I get there?" I ask.

"Easy, follow me." Rias orders as she gets up from her desk chair and walks to the middle of the room.

"Akeno, if you would." Prompted the redhead.

"Of course." The ravenette happily replied. She then held her hands out and summoned a huge magic circle.

"Wow, what is it? A transportation circle?" I guessed. Judging from the situation, that was the only idea that came to mind.

"That's right. We're gonna send you to our client through this." Rias informed.

"Ah, figured." I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked over to see Kiba looking at me with a kind smile.

"Just a heads up, some of our clients can be a little odd, so just be wary."

'A little odd? Well if I can handle all this weirdness in one day, I think I can handle some interesting people.' I think to myself. At this point, I was ready for anything. "Thanks Kiba." I thanked him with a light jab to his shoulder and walked to the middle of the magic circle, waiting to be teleported. I closed my eyes, waiting for something to happen. When I felt the magic build-up, it suddenly stopped altogether, causing the magic circle to disappear.

"Uh...what?" I asked in complete confusion. Everyone just looked surprised, disappointed or had an uneasy smile. "What just happened? Why didn't it work?" I ask again, hoping for someone to answer. "Oh no, did I mess it up?" I heard a disappointed sigh, and looked to see where it came from. Only to see Rias with a hand on her forehead.

"It's okay, we have another way." She claimed calmly.

'I do not feel confident about this.' Was all I could think when she said that. I then heard a strange crackling noise come from somewhere. "What was that?" I asked. And after I did, I felt a large jolt of electricity shoot through my whole body, causing me to scream loudly in pain. My body collapsed to the ground and now I feel completely numb. "Ow..." Was all I could muster to mutter without causing more pain.

"(Y/N)!" Everyone cried.

I felt my body being raised up slowly held by gentle hands.

"(Y/N)! Are you okay?! Speak to me!" Rias called out.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw Rias holding me, having a saddened and worried look on her face. Honestly, it didn't really hurt. It just took me by surprise. "Y-Yeah, I'm okay. Just surprised me is all." I said with a small smile, trying to eas Rias's worrying.

"I'm glad. Akeno, could you heal (Y/N) please?" She requested.

"Of course." The ravenette walked over to me and hovered her hands over to my body. Greenlight began to radiate and my body began to feel better.

"There, all done. How do you feel?" She asked.

I rose up from the floor and punch the air rapidly, adding some kick as well with the same speed.

"Much better. Thank you Akeno." I bowed in gratitude.

Akeno giggled. "You are very welcome. Anything for an underclassmen." She said happily.

"You sure you're alright?" Kiba asked worriedly.

"You did just get electrocuted." Koneko pointed out.

"Yeah, I'm sure." I said, dusting myself off. "Besides, I've taken much worse punishment than that and still managed to walk away." I simply said with a smile. "Now then, I should get going." I said, causing everyone to look at me in shock.

"You sure you want to? I could have someone else do the summoning."

Rias's offer was nice, but she asked me to do this. And I'm not gonna back out just cause I got tased. "Nah, it's alright. I'll handle it." I replied.

"Very well, but we'll have to think of another way to get you there." Rias began to look as if she was pondering for an answer.

"Nah it's cool, I got it covered. Just need the address of the person who's doing the summoning." Everyone looked at me with confused expressions on their faces. Rias then walks over to her desk and reaches down for something. I hear something open and close rather quickly. She walks over to me and hands me a strange looking radar-like device.

"Here, this should work." She said.

"Yep." I simply replied.

"Well, see ya." And within a swift moment, I disappeared in the blink of an eye and arrived at the house I was summoned to. "Guess this is the place." I spoke assumingly. I knocked on the door and waited for an answer.

"Yes?" A voice called out.

"Hello? I'm a devil sent by the Gremory Household. Did you by chance request a summoning?" As I asked, the door opened to reveal a man who appeared to be in his mid to late 30s. He had dark, ash-colored hair with a small beard on his chin. He wore a fancy red suite as well.

'I can sense a lot of magical power from this guy. Who is he?'

"You said you were a devil from the House of Gremory?" He asked me, snapping me out of my trans.

"Oh! Uh, yes sir." I replied nervously.

"Well come on in. Let's discuss the terms of our contract." He said as he moved out of the way for me to enter his home.

"Thank you." I thanked as I walked past him.

He closed the door behind us and he led me to a dimly candle-lit room. "Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Tokiomi Tohsaka." He offered his hand to me.

"Nice to meet you sir, I'm (Y/N) (L/N)." I said as I took his hand gave a firm handshake. He led me further to a coffee table and two seats across from each other. We took our seats and I began by asking the purpose of this request. "So if you don't mind my asking, why exactly did you summon a devil?"

"You see, I have this tenant who's been rather absent at work. Whenever I call him out he never comes, or even answers. It also doesn't help that he always steals my wine." He explained as he rubbed the bridge of his nose in annoyance.

'This person he's talking about sounds like a real piece of work.' I thought in pity. "What would you like me to do sir?" I asked.

He looked at me with a serious gaze. "I'd like for you to see why he's acting the way he is, and report back to me about what you find out." After his orders made their way to my ears, I nodded my head in acceptance of what was expected of me.

"Very well sir, I'll see what I can do."

His eyes beamed with utter joy. "Thank you very much!" He quickly bowed in gratitude. "His room is the last one on the left of the hallway downstairs." He explained, offering his hand to me once more. "I truly appreciate it young devil."

I simply smiled at him and shook his hand. "Of course sir, it's my pleasure." I proceeded down the direction Mr. Tohsaka had told me. As I descended down the stairs, I noticed that my vision was becoming darker and darker. But due to me gaining the ability to see in the dark, I was able to see my way down with ease.

As soon as I reached the stone slab ground below, the hallway in front of me illuminated itself, clearing a path of light for me. That made this a whole lot easier. As I continued walking, I finally saw the designated door to which my client was referring. But what caught me off guard was the slight hint of club music coming from that room, as well as multiple colored lights slipping through the crack on the bottom of the door.

I ease my way to the door and take a deep breath. As I was prepared for anything I knocked on the door. "Hello?" I cried, waiting for an answer. "I'm a devil summoned from the House of Gremory. I was summoned to speak with you."

"You may enter." The voice said.

"Thank you." As I reach for the door handle, I proceed to open the door it was connected to. As I opened the door, the music grew louder and the lights grew brighter. The more I entered the room the closer I grew to the only person on the couch. He was a fair-skinned man who looked in his mid-late 20's. He wore a plain white t-shirt with black skinny jeans. He had some odd pieces of jewelry on his wrists and neck. He also had blood-red eyes and golden blonde hair. Least to say, his appearance pissed me off beyond belief, and I had no idea as to why.

"That's quite the look you're giving me. Is something the matter?" He simply asked.

"My apologies, I thought you were someone else." I replied, not trying to sound disrespectful.

"Very well, you are forgiven. Now, what is it you're here for?" His sudden question reminded me of why I was down here.

"Oh yes, Mr. Tohsaka wants to know-" I looked around at the atmosphere and notice the glass of red wine in his hand, the bright colors and the loud club music. "Why you won't...come when he calls." I fell silent after I realized what I was saying. "You know what? Never mind I get it."

"Meh, we don't get along." The blonde man said, grabbing the bottle of wine on the table in front of him.

"Oh but you have no problem drinking his wine." I bluntly pointed out, causing the man to shrug his shoulders but keep his cocky and arrogant smile.

"Well, technically it's mine, like everything else." He mumbles under his breath. He finished pouring his glass and began to drink again.

'Who the hell is this guy? His face looks so familiar! But why?!' As I continued to look at the man in front of me, his expression lit up as if he had an idea.

"Hey, here's an idea, why don't you kill Tokiomi?" His question caught me off guard so much that I choked.

"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Where did that come from?!"

The blonde man simply shrugged. "Eh, I dunno. I don't like him, so I think he should be killed. Apparently that a big thing nowadays."

"No, it's not. It's not a thing...that's never been a thing...it's never going to be a thing!" I yelled at him, trying to get him to think straight again. As I grew closer to him, I picked up the faint, yet strong scent of alcohol. Needless to say, it smelled really bad. So bad I almost puked. I held it in however with a loud gulp and reached for his glass and bottle. "I think you've had enough." I said as I took the bottle and glass.

"Return that to me at once mongrel!" His booming and demanding voice echoed through the room.

"Look, Mr. Tohsaka is worried about you. You're not talking to anyone and you're held up in here all the time. It's not healthy. And this-" I held the wine bottle up. "This is not helping either. I'm not saying stop drinking entirely. It okay to have A glass once in a while, but just cut back on it a bit." I continued to lecture the older man.

"Boy. Boy!" He cried as he spoke over me.

"What?" I said with a sigh.

"I'll be honest, I tuned out around, 'No problem drinking his wine.'."

I simply stared at him with a dumbfounded expression. But needless to say, I was impressed by his improv skills. "Well then, I'm struck by your improv skills." I complimented.

"That being said, it would be really cool if you got me a glass of water." His speech became much deeper than before as he fell backward onto his couch and exhaled loudly as he rubbed his forehead. "And some acenometaphen please." He asked as he slurred his speech.

"Sure, I'll be right back. Just get some rest." I order as I leave the room.

As I walked the halls and up the stairs, I continued to make my way to Mr. Tohsaka to inform him and tell him what had happened. As I entered the living room, my footsteps caused him to look towards my direction.

"Well? How did it go?" He simply asked.

I let it a loud sigh as I took a minute to think of what to say to Mr. Tohsaka. "Well, apparently you guys have some issues you might need to work out yourselves. Talk to him and make a compromise that benefits the two of you." As I told him about my deduction, he leaned up on the couch and crossed his legs, placing a hand on his chin and nodding. "Also, try to keep him away from any alcoholic beverages. A glass every once in a while isn't a problem."

"I see." He simply stated.

"Also, do you have any acenometaphen?" I asked.

He looked at me with a confused expression. "What for?" He asked.

"He asked for some." I answered.

"Very well." He said before standing up and walked over to me. "You did a great job here today young devil. I'll take things from here." He said as he took the glass and bottle out of my hand.

"Are you certain sir?"

"Yes yes, I'll take care of the rest. Come, I'll walk you out." He offered as he walked past me. I followed the man and arrived at the front door. As I walked out and readied to leave, but was suddenly stopped.

"Before you go..." Mr. Tohsaka called out causing me to stop and turn around. "I'd like to thank you. You did a great job." His compliment felt a bit unnecessary.

"You're welcome I guess. I mean I didn't really do a whole lot. All I did was talk to him like you said." I re-explained my simple request.

Mr. Tohsaka simply placed a hand on my head and ruffled my hair. "Which was exactly what I wanted you to do. And for that our contract is completed." He gave me a warm smile and I felt rather proud.

"Well if that's it, then I'll be heading out. Have a good night Mr. Tohsaka." I bowed farewell to him and proceeded to leave. I was ready to head home and crash on my bed and just pass out.

"Oh! One moment please." He called out again, stopping me for nice more.

"Yes?" I responded.

"You need something that shows that our contract has been completed."

I never knew that. I had no idea even how to do these whole contract pacts worked as I had just started today. "Really? Well, what do you have in mind?" I asked, crossing my arms and raising a curious eyebrow.

Mr. Tohsaka pondered for a moment, humming as he searched within his mind. A lightbulb quickly went off in his head, he snapped his fingers. "I think I may have something." He claimed as he reached into his suit and pulled out a rather large ruby necklace.

I was shocked that a ruby that beautiful existed.

"How about this?" He asked.

I looked at him like he was crazy. But his expression remained the same.

"Y-You sure?"

"Of course. Here." He then put the necklace in my hands.

The crystal felt cold and the edges were sharp. But as I held it, I could feel a huge amount of power surging from within the ruby. "T-Thank you sir."

"Of course, thank you for help. Now have a good night." He lightly bowed before turning around and walking to his door and closed it behind him.

I stood in place and simply looked at the ruby he had given me. I continued to look at it as I began to leave the premise.

As I walked, I put the necklace in my pocket for safekeeping. The sky was covered in the darkness of night, only illuminated but the few stars in the sky above. I felt calm. But at the same time, I still couldn't shake this weird feeling I felt at Mr. Tohsaka's home. 'I could sense a lot of powerful magic energy coming off them. Who were they?' I pondered.

The longer I walked, the more distant the street seemed. The air was cold and quiet. The only sound that accompanied me was the sound of my own thoughts, as well as my footsteps colliding with the ground below me.

In a mere instant, that all suddenly stopped. The air became tense and heavy. The sky turned into the same way it did when Yuma and that fallen angel man tried to kill me.

"Well, this certainly is a surprise." A voice called out behind me.

I turned my head and saw a tall and buxom woman with brown eyes and long navy blue hair that obscured her right eye. "I never thought I had to deal with this. Dohnaseek should've taken care of this." Her tone sounded annoyed.

"Who are you?" I asked the woman in front of me. The closer she drew, the stronger her killing intent seemed.

"My name is Karlawarner, and I'm here to kill you." She claimed, her voice pierced my ears as the sharp tone of her voice left a permanent imprint into my mind.

"...Yeah? Well get in line and join the club sweetheart. You're not the first. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm busy." I said to her as I continued to walk away.

I eventually passed her and she didn't even move. But before I could move further, a long blue light emerged on the side of my neck.

"I'm not here to play games, little boy. You have two choices. Come with me or die." She threatened.

Wait...come with her? "Wait, back up a sec. You said to come with you...Why?" I asked bluntly. But behind my bluntness, I was still utterly confused. Why would a fallen angel want me to come with them? Unless...

"My master wishes to speak with you."

'Her master huh? Now I'm curious.' I think to myself as I grew a small sinister smirk. "Oh yeah? And who're they?" I asked.

"That is none of your concern." She replied.

The two of us fall silent. Karlawarner's spear of light directed at me. I simply turned to her and stared, smiling once again. I think I can work with this.

"Sorry love, but no can DO!" I launched my knee into her stomach with the force of a launching rocket. She stumbled back but quickly recovered. As she refocused herself, she began to attack again by summoning another spear of light.

"Damn you!" She yelled as she charged at me at full speed.

3rd Person POV

Karlawarner flew towards (Y/N) at breakneck speed, hoping he'll have little to no time to react. But as she grew closer to striking him, he conjured his white sword.

"Oath Maker." He whispered into the night.

In a bright flash of light, his sword appeared into his hand. He tightly gripped the handle and prepared to fight.

"Goddess Wind!" He cried as he slashed the air and summoned white streaks in the wind that flew towards Karlawarner, causing her to be blown back. But that wasn't all that was blown away.

"Uh...AH! Oh God, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" (Y/N) apologized as he tried to cover his eyes, in hopes of not seeing anything he shouldn't.

"Y-You..." The fallen angel woman uttered in rage as she covered her body with her hands and arms.

"Really, I am SO sorry." (Y/N) bowed multiple times in hopes that this woman would forgive him.

"You little brat. I won't forget this!" She cried as she flew away, leaving black feathers behind and changing the sky back to normal. The black and white-haired teen stood there, shocked and appalled. His weapon disappeared and he sighed loudly.

"I wonder if there's some kind of magic to forget what I just saw." He sarcastically asked himself.

"So let me see if I understand this correctly..." The scarlet haired beauty stared at the boy, who sat on his knees below her. "After you completed your contract with the client, a fallen angel attacked you and, in self-defense, you retaliated."

(Y/N) simply nodded. "Yes ma'am." He weakly stated. "I'm really sorry, but I didn't have a choice." He spoke apologetically as he bowed.

Rias simply sighed in disbelief but nodded in acceptance shortly after. "It's okay. The important thing is that you came back alive. Not only that but you also managed to make a pact your first night of being a devil, congratulations." Her words managed to ease (Y/N)'s worrying.

"Thank you." He replied.

"Congratulations on getting your fist pact (Y/N)." Akeno congratulated cheerfully.

"Thanks." He replied with a small smile.

"By the way, how did you beat this fallen angel?" Rias asked, regaining (Y/N)'s attention.

"Oh, I used Oath Maker." He said as he reached out his hand and summoned his white sword. Everyone simply stared at it in amazement, especially Issei.

"You got a Sacred Gear too?!" He asked loudly.

"Yeah? Why?" He replied with a confused look.

Issei punched his hand through the air and posed like a superhero. "Boasted Gear!" He cried, a red gauntlet-like device appeared on his hand. "Pretty cool huh?" He asked, trying to sound impressive. All it did was cause (Y/N) to look at him with a blunt expression.

"Yeah...sure." He replied with uncertainty. 'Why did he have to pose like that? Oh God, I hope that's not what I do.' (Y/N) thought to himself in worry.

The gauntlet on Issei's hand soon disappeared in a flash of green light as it's wielder sighed in relief. "To be honest, I thought that would certainly slow me in my alone time."

"Gah! Dude don't tell me that! I'm a dude, I don't need to know what you do!" (Y/N) yelled as he waved his hands in front of his face, in hopes that he would be able to avoid this uncomfortable conversation from proceeding any further.

"Ahem." Rias spoke out, trying to return to the topic at hand. "Listen (Y/N), not only do the fallen angels know you're alive, they now know you've been reborn as one of us, which is bound to make things more complicated around here." She said in a tone that made her sound somewhat disappointed, which caused (Y/N) to feel a little bad.

"Yeah, I'm really sorry." He apologized once again.

"I know you encountered her by accident but don't get carried away easily now that you unlocked your Sacred Gear and go fight them alone. That's disrespectful to the rest of us."

"I...I understand." (Y/N) said as he looked to the ground with his regular expression. "If it's okay, I'm gonna head home for the day. I'm really tired." He said as he walked away and it if the club room and proceeded to walk home.

(Y/N)'s Home

"I think you pissed her off." A deep voice spoke.

"Oh really? Thanks Starvlador, I had no idea how to tell when a girl is pissed or not." (Y/N) sarcastically replied.

"Hey, don't get all snarky with me. I'm just saying that you should do something to fix your standing with her."

(Y/N) looked up and stared off into nothing as he stopped what he was doing and had a surprised yet confused look, thinking about what his dragon had suggested. "What standing? Apparently, I'm her servant now and she's my master. Doesn't mean we need to like each other or get along." He replied as he resumed cooking his breakfast.

"You have a point, but be careful. That's all I gotta say."

"Huh? Why?" (Y/N) felt even more confused than before.

"That girl is strong, so strong she can turn you to dust if she wanted. So don't get on her bad side." Starvlador's warning did not go unhindered as (Y/N) sighed loudly.

"So can, literally everyone I've ever fought. But I'll do what I can." (Y/N) nodded his head in confirmation.

After (Y/N) had finished his food, he cleaned his dosages and left his home to go to school. But before he made it even remotely away from his home, he heard a loud thud. He looked around to see where the noise came from and spotted someone with their white panties exposed.

'Holy crap!' He yelled to himself as he looked away.

"Oh no! Looks like I fell down again, I'm such a klutz!" The voice called out as they rubbed their head. The person who made the large commotion was a girl.

She gets in a seated position and notices (Y/N) and his twitching eye and hand covered face. She had pale skin from the look of it, bright green eyes, and blond hair the most noticeable feature is the attire she wore, especially the cross hanging from around her neck.

'A nun?' He thought. "Uh...Hi there." (Y/N) simply greeted.

"H-Hello." She replied.

The two simply stared at each other, filling the atmosphere in awkward silence.

'A devil and a holy sister...This can not end well.'
