ROAD TRIP!!!

(Y/N)'s Home

3rd Person POV

"I'm home!" He announced, sitting down as he took off his shoes at the doorstep. Hearing steps behind him, he turned and was greeted with arms wrapping around his neck.

"Welcome back." Rias greeted, donned in a black silk robe with purple accents, she hugged her Pawn from behind, kissing his cheek.

"Hey Rias." He greeted back.

"How was your study session?" She asked.

(Y/N) immediately became nervous, a cold sweat hit him like a speeding truck. "It was okay for the most part. I managed to remember a majority of American History."

"Oh yeah?" Rias asked curiously. "And what's going on with America?"

"Well, to put it bluntly...they're fucked." He replied.

Rias choked before laughing. "Well, seeing how late it is I'm going to assume you haven't eaten anything yet."

"That would be correct." He replied. "I have not had anything to eat."

"Well, thankfully we've still got some leftovers from dinner earlier. Would you like some?" She asked as she rose up, extending a hand for her servant to take.

(Y/N) smiled and accepted the lift up. "I'd love some, thanks." He thanked as he was guided by the redhead as she continued to hold his hand on their way to the dinning room. "What was for dinner?"

"It was one of your recipes. The foil baked salmon." The King informed. "Asia was really looking forward to it."

"Well she's already an amazing cook. I'm sure it turned out great." He said in excitement.

Upon entering the living room, he noticed that Asia and Artoria were nowhere to be found. "Hey, where're the others?" He asked.

"Asia had a last minute request come in so she left a while ago and Artoria is taking a bath at the moment."

"Ah, gotcha." He accepted.

She leaned over and pecked his cheek before releasing him to gat his food. "Go ahead and grab a seat, I'll get your food for you."

"Oh, thanks." He thanked as he took a seat at the dinner table. As he sat he heard his phone ding, indicating a message. He pulled out his phone and saw who it was and what they said...

'Hey dill-weed, I finished working on the rest of the sheet music for the concert. Give 'em a look and let me know what's up when you can!'

(Y/N) chuckled at the message from his drummer Bakugo and sent a thank you message back before he began looking at the sheet music forms he sent.

"Here you go." Rias said, approaching the table with a tray of warm, freshly made and delicious looking food.

"Oh man!" (Y/N) cheered in excitement. "This looks awesome. Can't wait to try it!" He added.

"Well go right ahead." Rias smiled.

(Y/N) grabbed his eating utensils and clapped his hands. "Thanks for the food." He pulled the foil back and opened it to release a steaming, juicy, and intoxicating piece of foil-baked salmon. 'Oh boy, here we go!' He cheered to himself. He grabbed a bit of it and ate it. His entire body felt alive from the sudden burst of flavor from the fish. "Oh man, this is so good!" He praised. "Asia is getting better and better every day!" He added. "She'll make a wonderful wife one day, no doubt about that!" He said, taking another bite.

Rias giggled. "I'm sure she will."

As the loving King watched her beloved Pawn enjoy his meal, she began to lightly tap her fingers on the table. "So..." Rias ran her fingers against the table. "Sona called me a little bit ago."

(Y/N) immediately stopped eating, almost choking at the sudden news. "Uh...okay." He said nervously. "How's uh...How's Sona doing?"

"(Y/N)...is there something you want to tell me?" She asked, her eyes glaring sternly into her servant's very being.

(Y/N) looked around nervously, hoping to avoid eye contact. "Uh..." He trailed on.

"Look. She told me what happened." Rias claimed. "And I just want to say I'm not mad. Like I said, she already told me what happened. But I thought I should hear your side of the story too." She explained. "So, is there something you want to tell me?"

(Y/N) sighed in defeat. Regardless, he wanted to tell her the truth. "Okay. Okay okay, honestly I was planning on telling you but I guess Sona beat me to the punch." He admitted, feeling a wave of anxiety wash away and guilt dissipate. "Okay. So, you know how I've been going to the library once a week by myself to refresh my memory since I spent a year training."

"Yes." Rias simply replied.

"Right, well Sona was already there just minding her business. We said hi and chatted for a bit and she offered to help if I needed it. I was getting ready to leave but I was getting hungry. Sona had some cookies and I asked if I could have one; She said sure and I had one. And well...all that stuff happened." After (Y/N) finished sharing his side of the story, Rias continued to looked at him quizzically. "Rias, I'm so sorry. It was incredibly wrong to sleep with someone from a rival House. I'll accept any punishment you deem worthy."

Rias shook her head and held her servant's hand. "(Y/N), it's okay. Like I said, Sona explained everything. You were under the effects of an aphrodisiac. Both she and I hold nothing against you. I'm just glad you're okay."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, Sona is well, kind of the Akeno of her Peerage." Explained the King.

"Alright...In what regard?" He asked cautiously.

"She's a bit of a dominatrix. When she said you and her got involved I was worried she may have gotten too aggressive with you."

"Oh...Uh no. No she did not."

"Okay good." She smiled in relief. "But seriously, you have to be more careful. Alright?"

"Right...Thanks Rias." He smiled with gratitude.

"You're very welcome. Now go ahead and finish eating. It's getting pretty late and you're going to be pretty busy these next couple of days starting tomorrow."

(Y/N) stopped eating once again, looking at his master with confusion and caution. "What do you mean?"

Rias simply giggled. "Don't worry about it. You'll find out tomorrow after school." She added.

Footsteps emitted from behind the pair of devils and the two look to see Artoria standing in the entrance with nothing buck a small towel to cover her front. "Lady Rias, where did you put the bath towels? They're not in their usual spo-" She went silent immediately upon seeing her master.

(Y/N)'s eyes were wide with surprise, simply unable to look away from his servant and her current appearance. He swallowed his food with a loud gulp, still processing what he was seeing slowly as well as a response. He slowly rose his hand and awkwardly waved. "Hey. Artoria...I'm...back..."

Artoria's face burst red with steams of embarrassment. "M-Master?" She questioned. She ran to her master, a hand raised and ready to strike through her tears.

"Wait! Hold on! WAIT!!!" (Y/N) panicked.

"YOU PERVERT!!!" The King of Knights screamed, smacking her master viciously across the face.

(Y/N) groaned, rubbing the large red handprint that stained his face.

"Dude, that looks painful." Issei stated. "The hell happened?" He asked.

"I don't want to talk about it." He sulked. 'I'm pretty sure Artoria hates me now. Shit.'

"Now then, I'm sure you're both wondering why I've called you both here." Rias addressed from her desk.

"That is one of the many questions that have come to mind since I got here, yes." Issei stated.

"Well, as I'm sure you're both aware, the Gremory Family has established contracts all across the world. From North America to Australia and Asia through all of Europe. And recently, we've been getting reports of potential stray devil activities in one of our regions." Rias explained.

"Where's it at?" Issei asked.

"According to the reports, most activity has been in Duscae." Rias replied.

"Duscae? Never heard of the place." The brunette admitted.

"It's a small city northwest of Alistor. It's right outside of Arizona." (Y/N) explained.

"Right. But there's a slight problem." Akeno stated, gaining the concerned attention of her junior devils.

"What do you mean?" (Y/N) asked.

"For some reason, we can't get close enough to access points to teleport you to the location. It's almost the entire U.S. Continent is closed off from magical energy. The only access point we have is New York City." The Priestess of Thunder explained with worry.

"I see. So what's this have to do with us?" Issei asked.

"I'd like the both of you, Kiba and Koneko to travel to the U.S. and take care of the stray. Also find out why the magical energy flow is so weak, if at all possible." Rias instructed. "It's possible that the two are connected."

(Y/N)'s eyes began to widen in excitement. Believing that this would involve something very exciting for him. "So what you're saying is..."

"We'll need you to travel through the U.S. to take out the stray devil and restore the magical energy flow." Rias reiterated.

Both the boys smiled widely, their eyes gleaming with excitement and anticipation. They looked to each other, their grins unwavering.

"Dude...does this mean what I think it does?" The Azure Dragon Emperor asked his fellow Dragon Emperor.

"Sure sounds like it." Issei smiled back.

"We're going on a ROAD TRIP!!! YEAH!!!" The yelled as loud as they could.

"I'll make a list of things we need!" Issei claimed.

"Imma grab Kiba and Koneko! I'll also get in touch with Tony to see if he can get a vehicle ready for us! Oh, man this is gonna be so much fun!" (Y/N) cheered as he left the clubroom in a hurry, slamming the door on his way out.

Both Rias and Akeno simply stared off at the door, unsure of what to make of what they just saw.

"What...what just happened?" Rias asked.

"I'm...not too sure. But the boys are really excited for this mission."

"(Y/N) gets really excited for trips like these. We haven't been on one in years so this is gonna be one hell of a treat!" Issei explained as he continued writing the list of supplies they'd need for their excursion to the United States.

Class 1-B

(Y/N) pulled back the classroom door with great force, nearly slamming the door off the railings upon entering. "KONEKO!!!" He cried, shocking and surprising some of the underclassmen.

The Rook jumped from the sudden shouting of her name and turned to find her upperclassmen looking around the classroom for her.

Upon spotting her, (Y/N) smiled happily and dashed over to her, slamming his hands on her desk. "Koneko!...Hello!" He greeted cheerfully.

"H-Hey (Y/N)." The white haired Rook greeted back cautiously. "You seem...really excited over something. What's up?"

"Oh you know, same ol' same ol'. Weather's nice, classes are pretty lax and we get to go on a ROAD TRIP!!!" He boomed. "This is gonna be so dope! Koneko you're coming with us!! It'll be some much fun!!" The excited devil declared.

Koneko sighed. "This is about that mission in America isn't it?" She mumbled quietly.

"I'll fill you in later!" (Y/N) said, lifting Koneko up and over his shoulder.

"H-Hey! What're you doing?!" Koneko asked, her face plastered red from her new position on her upperclassmen's shoulder.

"Notimeforquestionsnow! ROAD TRIP!!!" He yelled, running out of the classroom and towards Kiba Yuto's class, passing by and blasting past many of the other students in the hallways.

Class 2-C

(Y/N) slid in front of the classroom door and jerked it open, once again nearly breaking it in his excitement. "KIBA!!!" He cried, instantly gaining the entire class's attention.

"(Y/N)?" The blonde addressed in confusion. "What's up dude? What's with all the shouting?" He asked before taking notice of his fellow devil hung over (Y/N)'s shoulder. "Koneko?!"

"Hey Kiba..." The Rook greeted in monotone.

"What's going on-?!" Kiba asked before being grabbed and pulled under (Y/N)'s arm securely.

"Getting group together. Trip to America. Long drives! Long days! Camping! Travel across country! ROAD TRIP!!!" (Y/N) screamed before taking his leave with the Room and Knight of the Peerage in his position.

As Issei and (Y/N) continued to make a list of things they may need for the excursion to the American Continent, Kiba and Koneko simply continued to watch them, unsure of how to respond or react.

"Hey, do we have a mode of transportation? We're not hitchhiking all the way from New York to Arizona are we?" Issei asked (Y/N). "Please tell me we're not."

"Don't worry." (Y/N) assured, pulling out his cellphone. "I'm gonna give Tony a ring and see if he can get the Regalia ready." He replied. "It's still in storage so we just need to get it, do a quick maintenance check, load all our stuff and we'll hit the road." The young devil tapped the screen on his phone, holding it up to his ear and waited for his manager to answer. "Tony, hey! What's going on?" He greeted, getting up from his seat and headed to the door. "How we looking on the list?" He asked Issei.

"Just about done. Should be good by the time you're done with your call." The brunette replied.

"Cool." (Y/N) replied with a thumbs up before leaving the room. "So hey, think you can do me a favor?" He asked as he closed the door behind him.

"They're certainly giving this a lot of effort." Kiba said with amazement.

"I've never seen the pervert work with such purpose that didn't involve anything perverted." Koneko awed. "It's almost creepy."

Rias chuckled through her hefty sigh. "They've been like this since I told them about their next mission."

"I thought that might be the case." Kiba laughed awkwardly. "So, what is the mission exactly?"

"Well, to keep things brief, there's a stray in the American Continent that's causing a lot of problems for the locals. In addition, the flow of magical energy has appeared to be slowly dwindling away, almost to the point of being non-existent. We believe the two to be connected. You're job is to go investigate and eliminate the stray devil."

"Will Asia be joining us on this trip of ours?" The Knight questioned.

"Actually, she won't." Rias answered. "Apparently she wanted to talk to Ms. Hasegawa about something. She never specified what though."

"Two women infatuated with the same guy having a conversation alone? I can already smell the blood." Koneko claimed.

Kiba chuckled awkwardly. "I don't think they'd go THAT far."

The clubroom door immediately burst open, revealing a very excited and beaming Dragon Emperor. "WE'RE ALL SET!!!" He boomed.

"LIST IS FINISHED!!!" Issei proclaimed loudly as he jumped out of his seat.

The two devils grabbed the remaining members of their excursion.

"Time to go shopping gang!" (Y/N) cheered.

"Time to get the good shit!" Issei cheered.

"I uh...I'm starting to get a little worried." Kiba stared blankly with a nervous smile.

"I've lost any hope of their overexcitable asses calming down the second you got gotted." Koneko replied with a deadpanned expression.

"ROAD TRIP!!!" The two cheered as they grabbed their belongings and bolted out of the clubroom.

The King and Queen watched as their fellow devils left, remaining silent to process the series of events they had just witnessed.

"Well, it's definitely a nice change of pace to see (Y/N) so excited for something." Akeno chuckled.

"I guess. Maybe this trip'll be good for him. Poor thing has been working himself to death again ever since Beerus came to visit." Rias sighed, turning her sight to the sky outside. "But remember, no matter what happens, we can't interfere. This trip is not only to discover the sudden disappearance of magical energy flow and eliminate the stray, but it's also a test to see if they can handle these kinds of things on their own."

"Rias..." Akeno simply stared at her King with an unconvinced gaze. "Who're you trying to convince? Me? Or yourself?"

Rias simply looked to her Queen, not a single response.

Grocery Store

"So uh...I'd like to take this time to apologize for my behavior earlier today. My excitement may have got the better of me. I apologize." (Y/N) apologized as he pushed the shopping cart forward.

"You think? You practically kidnapped us out of our classrooms." Koneko reminded.

A sweatdrop slid down (Y/N)'s head. "Y-Yeah. Sorry." He apologized. "But you shouldn't think of it as "kidnapping", I'd say it was more like recruitment."

"You were cornered in the entrance of the main building by the teachers." Kiba replied.

"So yeah, is there any particular reason why you're just a nutcase when a Road Trip is involved?" Koneko questioned.

(Y/N) was rather surprised by her question. He looked away with an uneasy smile.

His odd change in mannerisms confused the two devils.

The young devil sighed and leaned against the shopping cart's handlebar. "Well, it kinda has to do with my family. My...adopted family back when...when they were alive."

Kiba and Koneko fell silent, I sure of how to respond.

"They weren't really as long as the one we'll be going on, but we'd always rent a car and take a nice long drive and go sightseeing whenever the bastard when on his "business trips". Those were really the only times my mother my sister and I had any peace of mind. We had a lot of fun on those trips. I just get a little too excited over them. Sorry."

Kiba and Koneko remained silent, looking at each other for an idea of what to do with this newfound knowledge. Anything to say, anyway to react. But nothing.

"Dude!" Issei called as he slid into the aisle. "They've got extra spicy curry mix! We've gotta get them all!!" He cheered, carrying a large collection of curry mix boxes.

"Issei, were are not eating junk food for the entire trip! Only grab a few, leave some for other customers!" (Y/N) scolded. "And you better be paying for half of this crap! I'm not made of money!" He added as he pushed forward.

"(Y/N) sounds like a parent or a scolding big brother." Kiba chuckled.

"Big Bro (Y/N)." Koneko mumbled, a light tint of red coming to her cheeks at the happy thought.

(Y/N)'s Home

After gathering some of the things they needed for the first stretched their trip, (Y/N) and his friends made their way back to his home to enjoy a nice meal together, pack up, get everything ready for the next day.

"Welcome to my place you guys, come on in." (Y/N) smiled as he held the front door open for his friends to enter.

As everyone tried to make their way into the Azure Dragon Emperor's abode, the sudden hint of cooked sausages immediately gained their attention.

"Oh man, something smells good!" Issei drooled.

"Yeah it does." (Y/N) agreed. "Rias must be cooking tonight."

"I heard someone say my name!" Almost immediately, Rias Gremory popped out from around the corner of the doorway and greeted her devil servants with a smile and messy apron. "Was it my boo?" She questioned as she approached the devil in question, giving him a hug and gentle kiss in the cheek. "You boys manage to get all your craziness out of your systems?" She teased.

"Yes. Yes we did." (Y/N) laughed. "Sorry about that."

"Boys will be boys as they say." Rias smiled. She looked down and went wide-eyed at all of the bags that were on the floor and were being carried. "Oh my god! What'd you guys do? Buy out the whole store?"

(Y/N) simply laughed. "No. I know it may look like a lot but-"

"It's a road trip Prez. We're gonna need snacks." Koneko interjected.

"Yeah, what she said. I mean, someone DID try and take all of the spicy curry mix packs, but I told him no!" (Y/N) shot back to Issei.

"Hey man, you dissin' my spicy curry?!" Issei hissed.

Rias simply giggled. "Okay, well, how about I take these and you can finish up in the kitchen? Need you to do your "spice magic"." Rias smiled as she took (Y/N)'s bags.

"Whatcha makin'?" He asked.

"Jambalaya." She replied.

"Style?" He asked again.

"New Orleans." She replied.

"Say no more. I got this." (Y/N) proclaimed. "You guys wanna stay for dinner?" He asked his fellow devils.

"Oh yes! Come on guys, eat with us! It feels like forever since we all had a meal together!" Rias bubbled.

'It's like she's a newlywed housewife.' Kiba happily thought to himself. "Sure, sounds lovely."

"Prez's food? Ain't passing that up." Koneko accepted.

"Yes! Food! Now please!" Issei smiled.

Out of nowhere, Akeno peered around form the doorway and smiled upon seeing the others. "Oh hey gang! Wow, we're really having a party tonight huh?" She smiled. "Hey (Y/N), Rias said you could add on the finishing touches?" She asked her junior.

"Yep yep! Coming your way." He replied.

"Oh my, you naughty boy~ The others are right there. Then again, that just makes it more exciting~" She moaned before being pushed back into the room.

"Just set the table please, I'll finish things up in the kitchen." (Y/N) replied.

The others simply laughed, while Rias puffed her cheek in a huff.

"Come on guys, let's set this stuff in the living room then eat." Issei suggested, regrabbing some of the bags and heading inside with the others.

After everything was set aside and freshened up, the food for the meal was ready. (Y/N) came out of the kitchen carrying a steaming hotpot.

The young devil placed the pot down on the table. "Everyone, dinner is served." He rose the lid of the pot up and released a heft amount of cooked and seasoned rice with chopped up sausages and mushrooms.

"Oh man oh man oh man!!" Issei drooled.

"I can smell the sausages from here!!" Koneko stared in awe and twinkly-eyed.

"Well, don't just stare at it guys, help yourselves!" (Y/N) prompted.

Everyone quickly got their share, and with a single bite, everyone was in utter heaven from the taste alone.

"My..." Issei awed.

"God..." Koneko marveled.

"Wow, this is really good!" Kiba complemented.

"Good? GOOD?!" Issei boomed at startled Knight. "This is more than good you wannabe pimp! This dish is pure perfection!!"

"From the aroma of the steam alone, you can pick up each and every single spice mixed in with the rice. And the juices from the sausages seeped into both the rice and the mushrooms." Koneko explained.

Everyone simply looked to Koneko in awe. The fact that she spoke so much similar to a food critic shocked them to some extent.

"Master!" Artoria pushed her bowl in front of the startled master's face. "Seconds please!" She pushed.

(Y/N) simply laughed awkwardly, grabbing his Heroic Spirit's dish. Filling it up and handing it back to the anxious blonde.

"It's crazy how much she can pack away so quickly." Issei mumbled. "But for real, this stuff is legit. We should make some for the trip!" The brunette prompted.

"For once, I agree with the pervert!" Koneko said, instantly choking on her food as an uncomfortable feeling washed over her. "Ugh, that felt gross to say."

"Come on Koneko..." Issei sulked.

"Well, we've got some leftover ingredients and the stuff to do it. So sure, why not?" (Y/N) said. A sudden realization came to the young devil and turned to the Bishop who had been silently eating at the table. "Actually, speaking of the mission, are you going to be joining us Asia?" He asked.

"Hm?" Asia looked to her guardian, her spoon in her mouth. She swallowed before she answered. "Actually, as much as I want to, I'd really like to continue training under Chisato." She explained.

(Y/N) nearly choked on his food at this sudden revelation. "Y-You're training under Chisato?!"

Asia smiled happily. "Mhm! She's been trying to teach me how to increase the effectiveness of my healing abilities. I've also been wanting to learn more offensive magic so she's been helping Artoria and me a lot!"

(Y/N)'s eyes went wide, turning to the King of Knights that continued to devour her way through the Jambalaya in her bowl. "You too Artoria?"

Artoria turned to face her master with stuffed cheeks, quickly swallowing. "That's right. I need to learn everything I can in order to be more effective being your servant." She explained.

"G-Gotcha..." (Y/N) accepted.

"But, with that being said...(Y/N), I want you to be extra careful." Asia pled as she held her guardian's hand. "I know how reckless you can get, but I want you to be more cautious, okay?"

(Y/N) smiled. "Yeah. I gotcha." He replied. "Now come on, we gotta eat this Jambalaya until we can see the bottom of the pot!" He cheered.

Time Skip

"So, what do we do next?" Kiba asked, looking at the cards in front of him.

"Hmmm..." Asia hummed, looking at the instruction for the Death Battle Card game both Kiba and Issei were playing. "Okay...uh...you guys set your armor, weapon and our skill cards, activated the effects you wanted too, now you take your dice and roll. I guess whoever has the most attack die against the other wins?" She guessed guessed.

"You sure?" Kiba asked.

"Maybe? Let's try it, see what happens." Issei suggested.

The two boys took their handful of multicolored dice shook them.

"Let's see who wins blondie, my Symbiotic Suit with Shotgun Guantlets, Fire Breath, Geokinesis and Rapid Healing or your Adventurer's Tunic with a Katana, Time Freeze, Three Sword Style and Invisible Arms. Ready?" The brunette smirked with confidence.

"I guess..." Kiba said nervously.

As the boys played their card game, Rias and (Y/N) watched as they cleaned the kitchen.

"What in the world are those boys playing?" She giggled.

"It's the Death Battle Card Game. Issei and I have been trying to get a copy of it for a while now, only finally managed to score a copy fairly recently. Only for it NOT to come with a card I was kinda hoping for!" (Y/N) explained as he dried his hands with a towel. "No Crescent Rose even though it was advertised..." He grumbled.

Rias simply chuckled at her beloved's childish behavior over a card game. She leaned over to his side and rested her head on his shoulder as they continued to watch their friends. "You nervous for tomorrow?" She questioned.

"About the trip? Nah..." The Azure Dragon Emperor shrugged. "I've been on enough to know what to do. The mission itself, kinda. Don't really know what to expect going in. But I'm sure we'll be okay. Just gotta play it safe and smart."

Rias places her hand on her servant's holding it tightly. "Please do. Come back with very little scars please." She pleaded.

(Y/N) turned his hand and held his master's. "I will." He declared.

"HELL YEAH!!! I WON!!!" Issei cheered, shooting out of his seat with his hand in the air in celebration. "I AM THE KING OF DEATH BATTLE!!!"

"One more round! I've got a new combo to try!" Kiba said.

The brunette grew a cocky grin, sitting down as he looked at Kiba mockingly. "You sure you wanna go again, blonde? I might whoop ya again."

"Bet!" Kiba replied, setting up for the next round.

"Alright, bet!" Issei began doing the same.

Asia just laughed awkwardly as she watched the two frantically prepare.

"...Please don't tell me this is gonna go all night." Rias fretted.

"There's only supposed to be three games. If Issei wins again...I'll be legitimately surprised." (Y/N) admitted.

Time Skip

Despite what (Y/N) said, the game between Issei and Kiba didn't end after three rounds, they continued until it grew into the dead of night. After agreeing to a draw, the boys agreed to pause the game for a later time.

As the boys finished packing for the trip, the blonde Knight couldn't help but marvel at his library of books.

"I've gotta say, you've got quite the literature collection here (Y/N). Some of David Sky's best works too! I mean look at these titles; Written made Reality, Heroism, Tentacled Assassination, Asura's Instinct, High School DRB, Kitchen of Fire, and even seven volumes of R.E.D! How'd you manage to get these?!" Kiba marveled.

(Y/N) simply shrugged. "Eh, I've got my connections." He replied as he continued typing away on his computer.

"Whatcha doing man?" Issei asked.

"I'm looking over some sheet music. Finalizing everything to send to a friend of mine so they can do their part." (Y/N) explained. "Thought I'd get this done before we left tomorrow." He added. Suddenly, a thought came to mind. "Hey Kiba, by any chance do you have a driver's license?" He asked, hitting the send icon on the screen of his computer.

"Yeah, why what's up?" Asked Kiba, placing one of the removed book back on the bookshelf.

"Oh thank God!" (Y/N) exasperated in relief. "Huge favor to ask man, think we could alternate driving? It'd be a huge help if you did!" He begged the Knight, clasping his hands pleadingly.

"Oh, you sure? I don't mind if you're okay with it." Kiba replied.

(Y/N) released a heavy sigh of relief. "Thank you, that's a huge load off."

"Hey wait, how come he can drive the Regalia and I can't?!" Issei protested.

"Because he has a license, you don't even have a probationary license. Also, I know how you drive I don't want another incident like last time." (Y/N) looked down, closing his eyes and remained silent for a moment. "Poor squirrel never stood a chance..." He quickly shook off the painful memory. "Anyways, we can finalize the rest of the details while we get you on the insurance tomorrow. For now, let's hit the sack, we've got a long trip ahead of us boys!"

"Yeah! We goin' on a mudda fuggin' ROAD TRIP!!!" Issei cheered, tilting to the side before collapsing on the futon, quickly falling asleep.

"It still amazes me how quickly he can fall asleep." (Y/N) smiled, rising from out of his chair and slipped into his bed. "I'm gonna crash. Night Kiba."

"Night man."

With their final farewells for they day spoken, the devils within (Y/N)'s household slipped into slumber, some more anxious than others for what was to come.

Time Skip

(Y/N) closed the last suitcase after checking it, putting it with the rest of the luggage. "'Kay, you guys ready?" He asked, turning to his allies.

"All good here!" Kiba replied.

"Food is secured." Koneko said.

"Ready to roll bro! Let's do this!" Issei cheered.

As the devils made their way to the driveway, an incredibly high end sports car drove up against the side walk. As the door opened, Tony Stark yawned loudly as he scraped his beard, his tired eyes hidden behind his sunglasses, a StarBucks coffee in his hand. He sluggishly approached the his client and his friends. "Kid, you have any idea what time it is?" He asked, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"It's 5 a.m." He replied.

"Right, why did we need to wake up at the crack of dawn? It's not even light out!" He bickered, taking a big gulp of his coffee.

"It's actually just cloudy today. And, it was your idea to get up this early." The devil-dragon hybrid reminded.

The gruff looking Tkny pondered for a minute, slowly realizing (Y/N) was right. "Oh yeah." He admitted, simply taking another gulp of his coffee.

"Besides, we needed to get up this early. We have a long trip ahead of us, I'd prefer to cover the most ground while it's still bright outside. So, that being said, let's not waste any more time and get to New York, get the car and head out!" (Y/N) proclaimed.

"Wait!" Issei halted. "It's New York like 14 hours behind us? Does this mean we'll be going back in time?!" He asked excitedly.

(Y/N) pondered this new idea for a moment. "I mean, chronologically speaking...I guess?" He replied, shaking his head to refocus himself. "Okay everyone, hold on to something."

As instructed, everyone grabbed onto some part of (Y/N)'s body before teleporting to their destination, the starting place for their journey.

New York City

The devil's arrived in New York City, and many were aghast with awe. The streets were bustling with people, the displays on the tall buildings were constantly beaming news broadcasts and advertisements, and the whiff of vendor food could instantly be picked up from a few steps away.

"This...This is New York City?" Issei marveled. "I've only seen this place in movies. It's...so..." Issei struggled to find the right words.

"Alright kid..." Tony patted (Y/N)'s shoulder. "Let's get the Regalia ready to go. We need to get your friend on the insurance if he's gonna be driving too."

"Yep! Come on Kiba, gotta do some paperwork!" He called.

"Huh?" Kiba turned to his name being called, snapping him out of his daze. "R-Right! Coming!" He ran to the door of the storage facility with the others.

Time Skip

After having to constantly sigh piles of paperwork, Kiba slumped on the table with an exhausted sigh. "Man, I hope I don't have to do this ever again." He groaned.

"Yeah, sorry man. Didn't think it was gonna take that long. But we're good now, just got to get the car and load up, then we'll be on our way."

"Yeah, I guess you're right."

(Y/N) simply chuckled. "C'mon, car's in the back. We'll pull it out and load it up."

"Sounds good." The blonde agreed, rising up out of his seat.

Outside on the sidewalk, the rest of the Peerage say patiently for the vehicle and the rest of the party to return.

Issei, sitting on one of the suitcases pondered silently. "...So, if someone's named Cell, does that mean their mitochondria is their powerhouse?"

Everyone quickly darted their heads to the brunette in confusion.

"...What?" Koneko stared at Issei.

Suddenly, the garage door of the building opened, and a black car slowly pulled out. The vehicle resembled a Cadillac Ciel and Maybach Exelero combined to perfection. Parking against the side of the road, both Kiba and (Y/N) hopped out.

"Alright gang, let load this bad boy up!" The (H/C) devil smiled, patting the hood of the car.

"Dude, where did you get this?!" Issei marveled, nearing the point of his jaw dislocating.

"Just like the Motored Cuirassier, this is one of the vehicles Tony and I made together. We put in months for this bad boy. Trust me, this baby will get us to where we need to go easy." (Y/N) explained, patting the roof.

"Very nice!" Rias praised. "Koneko, Issei, why don't you two load up your things. (Y/N), Kiba, I want to talk to you two." She ordered.

"Yes ma'am!" The devils chanted in unison.

As Issei and Koneko began to pack their things into the Regalia, the others began their briefing.

"Okay, give me a synopsis of your objectives." Rias ordered.

"Our mission is to eliminate the stray devil in Alistor, Duscae that may also be the reason why the magical energy has nearly been erased. Hopefully finding a way to restore the magical energy and eliminating the stray could work in tandem." (Y/N) explained.

"Correct. And since you've had the most experience traveling like this, you'll be in charge of this operation." Rias claimed.

"Wait what?" Asked the confused (Y/N).

"Kiba, you're second in command. Help (Y/N) in any way possible." She added.

"Yes madam president."

"Oh-kay then, I guess I'm in charge. Cool, totally not a lot of pressure or anything. I've got this!" (Y/N) prompted nervously.

"We're set!" Issei called. "Yo dude, you got an aux cord in this thing or what?!" He asked.

"Should be plugged in the radio!" (Y/N) replied.

"I got aux cord and shotgun." Koneko claimed.

"What?!" Issei whined.

"Get in the back scrub." The Rook ordered the Pawn.

Issei sulked and made his way to the back seat.

"Alright, we should head out. Wish us luck guys." Smiled (Y/N).

"Wait." Rias ordered, grabbing (Y/N)'s short sleeve and pulling him in for a tight embrace.

(Y/N) smiled and returned the hug.

"Please, be careful. Look after each other. And no matter what happens, you come back. Not just to me, but to everyone who counts on you back home!" The King ordered.

"(Y/N), please be careful." Asia begged.

"Master, if something happens, don't hesitate to call. I shall come to your side posthaste!" Artoria declared.

(Y/N) nodded. "I will."

Rias smiled and leaned forward, placing a kiss on his cheek. "For good luck." She smiled.

(Y/N) smiled. "Thanks."

"(Y/N)!" Akeno called, approaching her fellow devil with a very detailed and thick looking book in her hands. "Here, I thought you might like this so I got you a little something." She said, handing her junior the book.

The young devil took the book and began examining it. "What kind of book is it? Looks ancient." He examined deeper inside as he opened and glanced at some of the pages.

"It's a tome. It seems like it's all Null magic. I don't have an affinity for it so I thought I'd give it to you. See if you can learn anything from this, I'm interested to see what you can learn."

"Oh wow! Thanks Akeno, that's so nice of you!" The devil-dragon hybrid smiled. "I'll be sure to give it a good read."

"Will do! Thanks again Ake-?!" (Y/N) was instantly silenced the moment Akeno smash her lips onto his.

Rias, Asia, and Artoria were shocked by this sudden action.

Akeno pulled away, a trail of saliva connecting the two before it faded. "There's my good luck." She said, licking her lips.

(Y/N) blinked twice. "Luck..." His face was beet red. "Kiba! You're driving first!" He hollered, turning back to the car and marching towards it like a solider.

Kiba gave his friend a quizzical look. "You sure man?"

"Yep!" He yelled, tossing the blonde the keys.

The devils secured themselves within the vehicle. With the tune of the key, the engine roared before toning down. Merging onto the street, the devils were on their way. They slowly past Rias and the others and the two parties waved each other farewell before driving down further into the street.

Rias and the others couldn't stop staring at the Regalia until it was out of sight.

"Rias...It's time we left to." Akeno informed.

The crimson-haired King exhaled deeply. "Yeah, let's go guys." She motioned for everyone present to a nearby alley, summoning a teleportation circle.

The circle glowed and the group vanished within the shower of stardust.

Kuoh City

As the devils and Tony teleported back to the city, Tony shook his body to rid himself of the odd jitters.

"I don't think I'll ever be used to that." The Billionaire Philanthropist claimed. "Well girls, it was nice seeing you. Hope to see you all again soon. Which I'm sure will be the next time (Y/N)'s in danger or when the city's in danger. Either way. Take care!" He waved off, putting on his sunglasses and simply walked away.

"...Do you really think they'll be okay?" Akeno asked her master and friend.

"I hope so. I would've gone as a whole group, but my brother wants this to be a sort of test for him. For what, he never said, but he thinks (Y/N) is more than up to the challenge." Rias explained.

"Well, all we can do believe them." Akeno claimed.

'(Y/N)...Issei...Everyone, please be careful!' Asia prayed.

Time Skip

Ohio

It had been roughly three hours since the group of devils departed from New York City. The journey on the open road had been rather peaceful and easy for the most part.

Koneko continued to stare out the window and Kiba continued the drive, his attention focuses entirely on the road.

In the back seat, (Y/N) continued to read the Null magic spell book Akeno had given him.

"Dude, you've been reading that thing ever since we left the city." Issei pointed out. "What is it? Some kind of encyclopedia?" He asked.

"Kind of. It's a spell book Akeno gave me to read for the trip. It's on Null magic." The Azure Dragon explained.

"Is it, good?" Issei asked. "That magic I mean."

"It's neither good or bad Issei. It's mostly personal use magic. So it depends on the user." (Y/N) explained. "But still, I only know the few spells Starvlador taught me, I had no idea there were so many. From what I've read, most of these spell are pretty much for anything you can imagine, but like I said, most of it is for personal stuff, so a majority are kinda useless."

"What kind do you know?" The brunette asked.

"Just the Silence spell and a more advanced Teleportation spell." The fellow devil claimed. "There's this one I've been reading up on. It's called Stacis. I can force anything in motion to stop in place for a short time."

"SERIOUSLY?! That's fucking awesome! Imagine all the pervy stuff you could do with that!" Issei cheered in excitement.

"Yeah. Thank God you don't have an affinity for elemental magic. So this will be of no use to you." (Y/N) replied in relief.

Issei slumped down dejectedly. "...Please don't remind me."

As (Y/N) turned the page in the book, instantly spotting another spell that had piqued his interest. "Huh, what've we got here?" He mumbled to himself.

"What's up bro?" Issei leaned over, glancing into the tome.

"A spell that draws distant objects to your hand." The devil read. "That might be pretty useful."

"Why don't you try it?" Issei prompted. "There's a tone of crap on the side of the road, why not try and see if you can grab something."

(Y/N) nodded. He looked out his window for something to grab. He spotted an upcoming broken tree branch and decided to use that as a test subject. He closed his eyes, channeled his his magical energy and focused on the object of his desire. "Aports." He chanted, yet yielded no results. "Huh, well that's a bust." He shrugged in dejection.

"How come it didn't work? What were you trying to grab?" Issei questioned.

"There was a tree branch a little ways back. Guess it was either too big or too heavy." (Y/N) looked into his book for more information, finding it deeper into the text. "Oh okay, here we go." He chanted. "Says here it only works on "small" objects, and I need to picture it more carefully." The young devil took a beep breath and began to focus once more. "Aports." With in seconds, the desired item in (Y/N)'s mind appeared in his hand.

Koneko jumped, yelping in surprise.

"Woah! Dude, what'd you take?" Issei asked. "It wasn't-"

"You say anything stupid and I'm smacking you with this book, and you know it'll hurt." (Y/N) threatened with a glare, holding up Koneko's black cat hair clip. "It was just her hair clip."

"Woah, that's so cool man!" Issei cheered for his friend.

"I guess. But it also seems really dangerous." (Y/N) claimed.

Issei simply rose a brow in confusion. "Dangerous? How?"

"Think about it, if some petty thief knew this ability, they could swipe your wallet, pick people's pockets, whatever forever. Even if someone felt something suddenly disappear, there'd be no way to know who took it." He elaborated. "Or I guess in your case, steal the underwater off of as many girls as possible."

"Hey! I'm an admirer of the female body, I do not steal underwater! I have standards damn it!" Issei growled.

(Y/N) laughed heartedly. "Yeah, guess you're right. Fair enough I suppose."

"Hey uh..." Koneko called. "Could I get my hair clip back please." She stared in irritation.

(Y/N) chuckled. "Sure. Sorry about that Koneko, here." He handed her the cat clip back.

"Hey (Y/N), there's a rest stop up here? Think we should get out and stretch our legs for a bit?" Kiba asked, pointing to the sign.

"Sure, sounds good. I'll take over. We can use this time to refuel and rest for a bit. We should also grab some snacks from the back and eat before we keep going to." (Y/N) decided.

"Sounds good." The blonde acknowledged, turning onto the path of the rest stop.

As the ride came to a brief stop, the group got out of the vehicle to grab something to eat from the back while walking around to stretch their legs, while giving (Y/N) the time he needed to refuel the car using a filled gas can.

"Alright, that should cover it." (Y/N) smiled before closing the fuel pump. He locked the Regalia and stepped away to stretch his legs as well, looking around to see where everyone was. Koneko and Issei were looking at a nearby river stream to get a closer look at the passing fish while Kiba stood on the observation deck. (Y/N) walked over and patted him on the shoulder. "Hey man, you doing alright?" He asked the blonde.

"Oh yeah, I'm alright." Kiba assured. He reached into his pocket and handed his fellow devil a wrapped protein bar. "Here." He offered.

"Thanks man." He smiled, taking the offered snack. "So, how's it feel to be out on the open road like this?" He asked.

Kiba beamed an excited smile. "It's really cool!" He said. "I've never been to America before, let alone on a road trip, so this is a whole new experience for me. I'm really excited."

(Y/N) laughed in content. "I'm really glad you could come with us man." He said, finishing off his protein bar.

"Me too. I'm glad Rias assigned me to this request." The Knight claimed, quickly pulling out his phone to check the time.

(Y/N) made a light glance at the screen on Kiba's phone, only to see a picture of both him and Tsubaki Shira, Sona Sitri's Vice Principal and Queen.

"We should probably get back on the road." He said before walking off.

"Ay-Yo hold up!" He called to the blonde.

"What?" He looked back in question.

"My guy, was that a picture of you and Tsubaki Shinra?"

Kiba simply looked at the (H/C) young devil in confusion. "Huh?" He simply said.

"On your phone man!" (Y/N) pointed. "You dating Tsubaki?!"

Kiba thought for a moment and realized what his friend was talking about. "Oh! No, no we're not a thing. We just hang out from time to time." He explained.

"But, like, aren't we not allowed to be hang out with other house members?" He asked.

"What? Of course not! Who told you that?" Kiba asked.

"I-I dunno. Guess I just kinda thought we weren't allowed to outside of master meetings or whatever." (Y/N) admitted. 'That would've made the thing with Sona a whole lot worse.' He thought.

"Nope!" Kiba chirped. "Unless strictly ordered, we can hang out with whoever we want. Though, if I'm being honest, she's kinda weird sometimes. But she's a good person."

(Y/N) rose a curious eyebrow. "How so?"

"Like, whenever we're really close to each other, her face gets all red. When we're alone together, she mumbles a lot. And she gets all fidgety when we set next to each other when we do whatever."

(Y/N) began to process everything he was told. 'Oh my God.' He thought. "Is she like that around other people?"

"Not that I've seen. It's usually just around me I think."

'OH MY GOD!!!' (Y/N) thought loudly. He smiled. He walked to his friend, tossing his garbage in the nearby trash can and patted the slightly baffled Kiba on the shoulder. "Dude, I think you and her need to have a nice long talk when you get back." He said, patting his shoulder before grabbing the keys from

his pocket.

"Wait, why?" Kiba asked.

"Oh come on Kiba, don't be a Jaune!" (Y/N) laughed full-heartedly, slapping his hands on his sides.

"D-Did you just call me Jaune? Like from David Sky's R.E.D?" Kiba asked, somewhat flustered.

"Well kinda. I mean, you are blonde. And you do use swords." He claimed, only to get a shocked gasp from the Knight. (Y/N) simply laughed at Kiba's reaction. "I'm just saying pay attention to the signs. You'll see 'em when they're there." (Y/N) said as he unlocked the car. "ALRIGHT YOU GUYS, TIME TO GO!!!" He called to the remaining members. "Hope you guys took care of your business, cause it's a long trip from here on." He said, only to watch Koneko return without the pervert that had accompanied her earlier. "Koneko, where's Issei?" (Y/N) asked as he opened the driver's side door.

"Pervert actually tried hitting on me." She replied.

(Y/N)'s eyes widened at this sudden news. "Uh...what?"

"So I hit him. He's still in the lake." She said before she got in the Regalia.

(Y/N) looked over and saw that Issei was indeed still in the riverbank, his legs sticking out and twitching as the remainder of his body was underwater. "Oh boy."

Time Skip

Issei continued to sulk with the moist towel still on his head. "That wasn't cool Koneko." He said.

"Learn to take a hint, jackass." She replied.

"Hey come on guys, no fighting!" (Y/N) ordered as he continued to drive. "Issei, you want a turn with the aux cord?"

Issei's eyes immediately lit up in excitement. "YES PLEASE!!!" He shouted, viciously jumping at the cord from back seat like a starving beast. He immediately began to struggle to plug the thing into his music player.

"Please, play something that we'll all enjoy." The driver requested.

Issei smiled. "Oh, I've got just the thing." He said as he hit play.

As the music began to play, (Y/N) eyes widened in horror. He immediately regretted his decision. "Oh no. Please no. No no no. Please dear God no!" He begged in fear.

"That's right!" Issei nodded proudly.

"GOD DAMN BOY BANDS!!!" He roared in anger.

Time Skip

Missouri

Passing through Indiana and Illinois, the devils had made it to Missouri, and Issei's boy band music continued to blast throughout the whole trip.

Kiba looked at Koneko through the side mirror in worry, unsure of what to do.

Koneko shrugged, unsure herself.

Kiba looked back at Issei, who was still singing and grooving along to "Tearin' Up My Heart by Nsync". He turned his gaze to (Y/N), only to see his anger slowly rising by the second. Taking it upon himself, he decided to silence the music. Moving as slowly as possible, he reached for the aux cord to unplug it.

The moment Kiba reached the cord, the Boosted Gear grabbed his hand and gripped it tightly, shocking everyone in the car. Everyone looked over in shock, seeing an oddly aggressive and terrifying Issei glare at Kiba with murderous intent.

"You unplug that cord and I will rip your head off by your scalp. Got it, pretty boy?" Issei threatened.

The blonde smiled through his tears and wimper.

(Y/N) eventually gave up, simply slamming his head on the steering wheel. The horn blared loudly as they continued down the desert road.

"(Y/N) look!" Koneko cried, pointing to something nearby.

(Y/N) looked up and saw a rest stop. A restaurant and a gas station. 'Oh thank Christ!' He cheered to himself. "Anyone down for some food?" He asked the passengers.

"YES!!!" Koneko hissed.

"Y-Yes please..." Kiba whimpered.

"I could eat." Issei smiled.

"GOOD!!!" (Y/N) barked, speeding up and immediately turning into the rest-stop area, leaving burnt rubber and smoke on the trail-blazed road. After pulling the Regalia into a parking spot. (Y/N) turned off the car and sighed in exhaustion with everyone else besides Issei.

Everyone stepped out of the car and started waking to the nearby diner.

"That is the last time I ever let you have the aux cord Issei." (Y/N) growled as he slammed his door closed.

"Oh come on. It wasn't that bad." Issei replied.

Everyone stopped walking and turned around, staring Issei dead in the eyes.

"Eight hours straight of Backstreet Boys? Yeah no thanks." (Y/N) said, looking away in annoyance.

"Backstreet Boys?" Issei questioned, incredibly offended. "That was NSYNC you UNCULTURED SWINE!!!" He shouted loudly.

The group continued walking into the diner, only to find it empty and devoid of customers. The only person present was the waitress behind the desk.

"Well whatever it was, you've officially lost aux cord privileges for the remainder of the trip." (Y/N) declared. "I was seriously ready to jump out of that car." He groaned, scratching the back of his head in annoyance.

"But it's your car." Kiba claimed.

"So?"

"You were the one driving!!" Kiba proclaimed.

"I don't care. I'd rather fly the rest of the way before I'm forced to listen to anymore of Issei's boy toy band music!" The (H/C) devil declared.

"We can't expose the supernatural elements to the real world." Kiba whispered in caution.

(Y/N) groaned in annoyance. "Fuck!" He said. "Whatever." He said, ending the conversation. "Let's just get some food, refuel, restock if we need to and keep going. Sound good?"

Everyone agreed and and approached the waitress behind the stand.

"Hi there, can we look at a menu please?" Issei asked.

"Sure thing." The waitress smiled, handing the group a menu.

As everyone looked over the menu, (Y/N) noticed the option of a daily special on the menu. "What's the daily special?" He asked.

"Only the freshest food handpicked by the staff from the great outdoors!" The waitress hastily replied with eagerness.

Issei looked at the waitress questioningly. "Great outdoors? We're in the middle of the dese-"

The exit door opened and a man entered with a dead-beaten possum, looking about 4 feet tall in his hands. "Hey Sugartits, I finished chocking out that possum! He put up a hell of a fight, I'll tell ya!" The blood covered man laughed.

All of the devils continued to stare with wide eyes as he proceeded to the kitchen.

"Hey, I'ma take this in the kitchen, throw it on the grill." The man said before leaving the diner floor.

"Sure thing, Greg!" She replied before turning back to the teens. "So what'll it be folks?" The waitress asked.

The devils looked to each other in worry, unsure of what to do.

(Y/N) stepped up. "We'll take four cheddar burgers and fries with four colas." He said, looking back to everyone to make sure it was okay. "That good with everyone?" He asked.

Everyone agreed.

"Four burgers, fires and colas coming right up!" She smiled as she wrote down the order on a note pad. Glancing back up to Kiba and (Y/N), she smirked a seductive smile and leaned closely to the group. "I'll even put in a "special" somethin' for one of you two handsome boys. Have fun guessing which one has it." She whispered with a wink.

"...Is she talking about us?" (Y/N) asked his fellow blonde devil worriedly, who only shrugged in response.

Time Skip

After the food came out, the group quickly inspected their dishes to find anything off. All but one managed to be clean.

"Son of a bitch!" Kiba mumbled as he put the bun to his burger back down. He stabbed the "juice" coated lettuce and slowly moved it to (Y/N)'s plate.

"Hey, aren't those two the only ones working here?" Issei asked.

"Don't talk with your mouth full, or you'll choke." Koneko replied, biting into her burger.

"And don't mention it." (Y/N) replied.

"Why couldn't we have just cooked something for lunch?" Koneko asked.

"Because there are no rest stops beside this one for the next few miles and I was NOT going to listen to Issei's trash anymore." (Y/N) replied, taking a massive angry chomp out of his burger.

Issei simply looked out the window and simply slurped his drink through his straw.

Koneko watched and just sighed in response. "Fair enough." She replied, eating a french fry. "Still, I'm surprised how smooth this trip is taking us." She added.

"I know right? We're making good time. At the pace we're going, we should get to-" The Azure Dragon Emperor paused as he saw Kiba trying to gently place odd looking toppings on his plate. "Don't think I don't fuckin' see you." He said, causing Kiba to stop for a brief moment before continuing. "You found the "surprise" didn't you?" He asked with disapprovingly narrowed eyes.

Kiba simply hummed and placed the "special" lettuce on his ally's plate.

(Y/N) simply sighed in defeat, continuing to eat his food to leave a quickly as possible.

Time Skip

Night had eventually fallen over the traveling devils and they had made their way into Oklahoma. Nearing the end of their journey, the devils decided to call it a day, finding a place to set up camp, (Y/N) cooked jambalaya for dinner.

Kiba stared at his spoonful of rice, mushrooms and sausages before taking a bite.

"Well, it's better than eating grilled four-foot rat." (Y/N) claimed as he ate some of the jambalaya. The sudden sound of a shutter went off, lightly surprising the young devil. "Hello?" He said, looking to Issei who had a camera. "Issei, when'd you get a camera?"

"Motohama let me borrow it. He lent it to me before we left for New York."

(Y/N) instantly grew worried. "Please tell me you-"

"Don't worry, I changed the SD Card, no filth whatsoever." Issei proclaimed. "I mean, I did have to clean the shutter button. It was stuck.

(Y/N) gagged at this sudden news. "That's...fucking disgusting."

"Yeah. I know." Issei sulked.

"But still, those pictures will make good memories." (Y/N) smiled contently. "Make sure to take a ton Issei."

Issei smiled brightly. "Yes sir!" He saluted.

"As long as you don't take pictures of anything weird, we're good." Koneko said before getting up for seconds.

"Oh come on Koneko! I like to think this road trip has built our bonds as friends!" Issei cheered.

Kiba chuckled. "That's a nice way of looking at it Issei. A true friendship has no bounds, as they say." He said before picking up another spoonful of his dish.

"Exactly!" Issei boomed. "For once, we're on the same wavelengths, yo!"

"It's getting late. We've got an early morning tomorrow. Let's finish up and hit the sack." (Y/N) suggested. "Well take turns on watch and fire management. I'll go first."

"Sounds good." Koneko agreed. "I'll go after."

"I call aux cord!" Kiba cheered.

Time Skip

The devils had been laid to rest. All but one. His job for the next two hours was to watch the campfire and keep an eye out for any potential threats. However, as he did this, he decided to continue reading up on the spell he found in the tome Akeno gave him. "Oh okay, guess that makes sense." He said to himself.

A sudden ruffling noise caused (Y/N) to turn in reaction, only to see Koneko coming out of her tent.

"Oh, hey Koneko." He greeted.

"Heya bozo." She greeted back, taking a seat next to him. The Rook grabbed a piece of wood and tossed into the fire. Koneko soon looked over, seeing her fellow devil still reading the tome Akeno gave him. "You're still reading that thing?" She asked.

"You bet! And I'm learning a lot about Null magic I never knew before." He replied in excitement.

"Anything good?" She questioned.

"Sorta." He answered. "I've been looking more into the Stacis spell, and I've found out the caster can't freeze anything bigger than themselves. So, chances are, it'll only work on people and monsters my height." He explained. "Still, could be useful at some point. I'll have to practice more with it later."

"So it's a spell that can freeze people?" Koneko asked, shuddering at the mere idea of Issei having that ability. "Thank God Issei can't use elemental magic." He groaned.

"I know right?" (Y/N) chuckled. "So, what's up?" He asked. "Can't sleep?"

The Rook said nothing, simply scooting over right next to her upperclassmen, resting her head on his arm as she stared blankly into the fire. "Kinda. Not really used to this kind of atmosphere I guess."

"Really?" (Y/N) asked in surprise.

"Yeah. I mean, I've gone camping before. But it was mostly training camp. We were at a single place for a long time, never had to travel very far." She explained.

(Y/N) smiled, patting the loli on her head. "Don't worry. You'll get used to it." He reassured. "Honestly, when I was younger I was the same way. I was nervous about traveling too."

"Really?"

"Oh yeah. But the more trips I went on with my mom and sister, the easier it got. Now, it's one of my most favorite things to do." He smiled happily before he continued deeper into the book.

Koneko looked down to the ground, watching the stray cinders fall from the burning wood pile and die in the dirt, hearing the calming crackles of firewood. She tugged his sleeve. "Hey..."

(Y/N) turned to the Rook.

"You think you could...I mean..." Koneko struggled to find the right words to say, the proper way to ask about something that's been bugging her. "Would you mind telling me what your family was like?" She asked.

(Y/N)'s (E/C) eyes widened with surprise. He turned away for a moment to think, closing the tome in his lap.

"I-If it makes you uncomfortable, it's fine. I just thought-"

"N-No, it's okay." The Azure Dragon Emperor assured. "Sure." He took a deep breath, thinking on where to start. "Well, let's see..." He mumbled in pondering. "Without getting too deep into the doom and gloom of it all, my family wasn't my birth family. I was adopted. They were a family that Issei's knew way before I showed up in Kuoh. My soon to be sister and Issei were childhood friends. After a while, his parents talked to my soon to be mom and she decided to take me in. I became apart of the Kazami family; (Y/N) Kazami, brother of Kazuki Kazami and son of Satako Kazami and he-who-shall-not-be-named. When he found out my mom adopted me, he wasn't very happy about it. Somehow she managed to talk him into letting me stay, but he expected something from me in return. He expected me to pull my own weight to try and make some cash, but when he found out I was a normal kid, he was pissed. My bastard of a father was a businessman, put work before the rest of us and barely gave us the time of day. The only time he talked to us was when he was yelling at me for doing something I didn't even do, or to tell my sister what to do next, or berate my mother for actually giving a damn about me. They were kind of my life line, my mom and my sister. Having the name of Kazami put a lot of pressure on them because of my father. He'd talk a big game to every fat man with a wallet and expected us to play along, especially when it involved selling my sister's paintings. Granted it's how we got most of our fundings, but that didn't stop my mom and sister from actually giving a damn about me. They'd actually spend time with me, listen to me and help me if I was in trouble. Whenever the old man went on one of his "business trips", we'd go out and do what we wanted. Take our own vacation, get away from home and go wherever we wanted. Even when we went all together, he didn't care what about us until he needed us, so we'd go on long trips. Drive across city after city, seeing part of the world we never could before. It's kinda what got me into camping and traveling." (Y/N) smiled, looking back at the happiest times of his childhood. He looked up at the sky and sighed happily. "They really were the best of that family I could've asked for." He said.

Koneko looked on into the fire, unsure of what to say. Still processing what she had been told.

"Hey, is it raining?" He asked.

Koneko looked up and held a hand out for raindrops, only to feel nothing. "No? Why?"

"I'm pretty sure it's raining." (Y/N) claimed, his voice slightly cracking.

Koneko looked over and saw the streams of tears falling across his face. She got up and quickly hugged her upperclassmen. "I'm not sure what happened to your family, but I won't push you to tell me if you're not ready. But just know, while you're with us...in this Peerage, were you're family. Okay?"

(Y/N) sighed, whipping his eyes. "Right...Thanks Koneko."

"Why don't you head in for the night? I'll keep watch until it's Kiba's shift." Koneko claimed.

"You sure?" He asked.

"I'm sure. Go get some rest." She ordered.

(Y/N) smiled, patting the Rook on the head. "Thanks Koneko. Have a good night. And thanks for listening." He said before entering his tent.

Koneko said nothing in response. She looked up and stared into the dark and star filled sky that shared the brilliance of the moon. "You're welcome."

Morning had finally arrived. The bright sun beamed down brilliantly upon the campsite of the traveling devils. Birds sang beautifully through the gentle morning breeze.

Through the breeze flew a delicious scent of honey and sugar.

The entrancing smell immediately arose one of the rest of the sleeping devils.

(Y/N)'s eyes shot open as he began to sniff deeper. "Oh man, somethin' smells good." He yawned. As he began to rise up, he felt a heavy weight on his right arm. He looked over and saw a head of pure white hair. His eyes widened further as he looked down seeing Koneko curled up on his side, holding his arm as she continued to sleep. His look of surprise turned to a look of confusion, seeing the odd sleeping position the loli Rook was in. "She kinda looks like a cat seeping like that." He claimed. "But that can't be comfortable. It doesn't look it like at all." He added. He attempted to slowly pull his arm out from under Koneko, quickly replacing it with a spare pillow. After successfully escaping his underclassmen's grasp, he opened his tent and walked out, only to find the portable table they packed all set up with various breakfast foods. Eggs, sausages, bacon, toast and even hash browns. "Damn, that's a lot of food."

"Ah, (Y/N)! Morning!" Kiba greeted with a smile, grabbing one of the empty bowls that rested on the table. "I thought since I'd be the last one for watch, I'd make breakfast." He claimed as he poured oatmeal from the pot above the fireplace into the bowl in hand.

"Aw, Thanks Kiba. That's real nice of you!" (Y/N) smiled. "Anything I can do to help?"

"Thanks, but I've got things covered. Why don't you go ahead and wash up. It's just about ready." Kiba replied.

"Oh man!" Issei said walking towards this fellow devils. "Something smells good." He said through his yawn. He quickly glanced at the table and his stomach immediately growled. "Oh man, that looks good. Can I has it?" He asked while drooling.

"Clean yourself up first Issei, then we gotta wait for Koneko." (Y/N) advised.

"Actually..." Kiba spoke, pouting to the table, showing Koneko already at seated.

"What the?! I thought you were still asleep?!" Issei questioned loudly.

"Hurry up and get clean bozos! Or I'll eat your food!" Koneko threatened. "Issei's share only though."

"Oh come on!" The brunette cried.

After the hearty breakfast was finished, the group packed everything away and got ready to set out once again.

"So how much farther 'til we get to this Duscae place?" Issei asked.

"Shouldn't be too long." Kiba replied putting the last packed tent in the trunk. "Four to five hours at most."

As Koneko put the collapsible table into the trunk, the rest of the amenities stored and they were ready to set out on the road once again. "That should do it. Where's (Y/N)?" She asked.

"He's on the phone with Rias. Said he should give her an update before we hit Duscae." He replied.

Over in the distance, (Y/N) finished explaining how the trip had been so far. From the smooth sailing parts to the not-so-much parts. "And we just finished packing everything up by the looks of it. We're getting ready to head out again. We'll contact you once we reach our destination."

"Excellent." Rias smiled through the camera. "I'll let you get back to it. Good luck (Y/N), and be safe." She pleaded.

"I will. Promise." He smiled before ending the video chat. Putting his phone away and headed towards the Regalia. "Alright gang, ready to head out?"

"Hell yeah! Let's slay this stray!" Issei cheered.

"You're rather excited for someone who lost aux cord privileges." Koneko remarked.

"Oh...right." Issei immediately sulked.

(Y/N) smiled, handing Kiba the keys. "Kiba, would you do the honors?"

"I would be happy to." He said, taking the keys.

Everyone sat in silence as Kiba drove the Regalia on the hillside highway, the car blasting "Hare Hare Yukai" from the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia.

"...Bet you guys wish I had the aux cord now." Issei smirked.

Kiba and Koneko grunted and groaned.

"This song has been in my phone since middle school, I can't delete the thing for some reason." Kiba defended. "No matter how many times it take it in to get it looked at." He sighed.

Issei laughed. "Weeb!" He jeered.

"You of all people have no right to call someone that." Koneko replied. "Besides..." She turned and glared at the pervert. "Got something against Haruhi?"

Issei gulped fearfully, sulking back down into his seat. "N-No ma'am."

Quietly, (Y/N) began to sing along to the anime opening.

Issei noticed this and looked to him in shock. "Seriously dude?!"

"What?! It's catchy!" He defended. "Got a problem mister "I like boy bands"?"

Alistor, Duscae

"How much further?" (Y/N) asked as Kiba looked at a map.

"Let's see..." The blonde looked, tracing the map. "The next exit coming up on the left." He pointed. "Should get us there in no time."

"Oh thank God!" Issei sighed. "As much as I like riding in this thing, my ass is starting to chafe. I mean what is this, the Inuyasha Express?"

"...How do you know what that is?" Koneko questioned.

As (Y/N) changed lanes onto the exit path of the road leading to Duscae. They quickly became engulf with a forest-like road with trees as think as could be. However, amidst the greenery, was an unbelievable amount of destruction and devastation.

"That's a lot of broken trees. And they're freaken' huge!" Issei claimed.

"Guess this'll give us an idea of what to expect when we face this thing." (Y/N) claimed as he pulled drove through the town gate.

The group was met with a tranquil cottage village, only light traces of modernization within the shops and other buildings. While the town was filled with people, there was an dark energy filling the air. A feeing of dread.

"Does something look off to you guys?" Issei asked as he looked out his window, watching all of the depressed and downtrodden people they passed by.

"These people have had to suffer being attack by a stray devil, who wouldn't be upset after that?" (Y/N) answered.

"Upset is an understatement." Koneko replied.

"Look at this place..." Kiba stared at all of the passing buildings, looking at the broken patches up pieces on everything. "This place must've seen better days."

"Well, that's why we're here, to fix it." (Y/N) proclaimed, quickly stopping the car and pulling to the side. He rolled the window down and called out to one of the nearest passerby. "Excuse me ma'am!" He called, gaining the woman's attention. "Can you point help us? We're looking for some lodging for a while. Rest a bit. Something?" He asked.

"You're looking for a place to rest? There's an inn not to far from here. Just take a left at the next intersection then another left. You'll see a sign that says Simply Snoozing Inn." She pointed. "It honestly one of the buildings that hasn't been broken as badly." The woman informed.

"Two lefts, Simply Snoozing. Got it. Thanks." He said before getting ready to drive off.

"However" The woman quickly halted the young devil before he had a chance to drive off. "I wouldn't recommend staying long. There's something that terrorizes this town. We barely made it out of the last time it came."

(Y/N) looked back to his friends, seeing them sprout confident smiles. He turned back to the woman and gave her a reassuring smile. "Well...that's kinda what we're here to fix." He said as he proceeded down the road.

After make their way through the road with the given directions, the devils made their way to the Simply Snoozing Inn.

The building itself looked rather worn down and old, but altogether still well kept to the best it could be. The only thing that had damaged the lodging was time more than anything else.

"Guess this is the place." (Y/N) said as he got out of the Regalia with his fellow devils following behind.

They entered the building and approached the front desk clerk with his head in his arms laying of the desk.

The devils looked to each other with uncertainty.

"Um...Excuse me?" (Y/N) called.

The clerk quickly rose up and rubbed his tired eyes. Slowly, his vision began to refocus and the group before him became more visible. His eyes widened in surprise and he stood up right instantly. "O-OH!!! Customers, hello! H-How can I help you today?" He stuttered.

"We'd like some rooms. Two if possible." (Y/N) requested.

"Two rooms..." The desk clerk looked through a book. "For how long?" He asked.

"A day." (Y/N) replied.

The desk clerk looked at the young devil with worry. "Uh..." He laughed nervously. "Really? You sure you want to stay for that long? It isn't really smart to stay very long." He advised.

"We're reserving the room for a day. We'll probably only need it for a couple hours and to put our stuff." Koneko explained.

"Ah, I see." The clerk accepted.

"You got a garage or something I can put our ride in?" (Y/N) asked, pointing to the Regalia.

"I've got parking in the pack, and I keep it locked until whenever people need them." He explained. "No charge."

"Perfect. You take cash?" (Y/N) asked.

"Yes sir. Rooms 102 and 104. That'll be $138." He said.

(Y/N) handed the man $200. "Keep the change." He said.

"T-Thank you sir!" The clerk smiled as he handed the devils their keys. "Enjoy your stay!"

The devils walked down the hallway and found the designated rooms.

"Okay. After we get all situated, gear prepped and clean let's regroup in the dinning room. We'll figure out how're we're gonna find this thing. Got it?" The Azure Dragon Emperor questioned.

"Got it!" Everyone replied.

"Good. Now how're we gonna-" (Y/N) began to ponder but was silenced when Koneko grabbed the room 102 key and opened it, simply walking inside.

"Come on." She beckoned.

"Oh...kay then." (Y/N) shrugged before entering the room himself.

"What?! Man, so not fair!" Issei whined.

"Come on Issei, let's hurry." Kiba advised as he opened room 104.

"Yeah yeah." Issei moaned as he sulked into the room.

Time Skip

After everyone cleaned themselves, changed, and readied everything.

Koneko went on ahead of (Y/N) while he finished his preparations.

Once completed, (Y/N) exited the room and made his way for the regroup spot. 'First things first, we need to find out how we're gonna find the location of the stray. Hopefully it'll lead us to the source of magical energy that was here before. Splitting up and asking around might-'

"(Y/N)!" Kiba called from behind.

"Oh hey Kiba. Got everything ready?" He asked.

"Yep. Though, we don't really know what to expect, so I'm about as ready as can be I suppose." Kiba admitted.

"Fair enough." (Y/N) shrugged, opening the door to the dining room spotting Koneko and Issei at one of the tables. "Hey guys. Ready to do some reconnaissance?" He asked.

"Let's do this!" Issei cheered.

"Fo sho." Koneko said.

"Alright then, let's head out!" (Y/N) cried.

As the devils began making their way to the exit of the Inn, they were quickly halted by the front desk clerk.

"Um, excuse me!" He cried. "Before you go, I need to advise you to stay way from the gate at the edge of town. It's for your own safety I promise you. Something's taken refuge deep in the forest behind the gate and...well..."

The devils simply stared at the man with deadpanned expressions. '...That was easy.' They thought in unison.

"Uh, other than that, please enjoy your time in Alistor!" He smiled.

"Thanks!" Everyone smiled back as they exited the building.

"So, you guys think...?" (Y/N) asked.

"Oh definitely." Koneko replied.

"Big time." Issei added.

"That was too easy, honestly." Kiba admitted.

"Okay good, so it's not just me." (Y/N) sniffed the air, using his dragonic senses to pick up anything out of the ordinary. He quickly picked up an odd scent. "I got something!" He proclaimed. "I think it's...No doubt...it's blood." He said. "Let's go!" He ran off to the location, his fellow devils following close behind.

Time Skip

Everyone stared in shock and discomfort at the sight they had been staring at. Unable to say a single thing to each other.

(Y/N) pulled out his phone and called his master.

She quickly picked up after a few rings. "(Y/N)? Is everything okay?" She asked.

"Uh...yeah. Um, Rias..."

"What's up?"

He stared in silence at the gate, bashed open and bent. A majority of the trees leading into the forest coated with a heavy coating of dried blood all over its leaves, as well as the stained ground below.

"We might have our word cut out for us this time." He admitted with a slight hint of dread.
