Sorting Through

The train ride was going fine and Hermione was accepted into the group as another bookworm

"Another?" she asked

"Yeah, you should see this guy's collection of sleep inducing books" Ron piped in causing all but Harry to laugh. Hermione had a weird gleam in her eyes as she looked at Harry

Harry, being the wise king he is decided to give her something before she bit his head off "here is a book on occlumency, learn it, then we'll see" he said giving it to her while leaning back to keep his head as far away from the manic girl as possible

The group laughed at Harry's antics. The mood was bright until the door to the compartment slid open suddenly, revealing a boy with blond combed back hair accompanied by two boys that can be accurately described as bookends.

"So this is what the Nott family fell to, spending time with traitors and mud-bl-" was as far as he got as Ron had punched him hard enough to drop him

"And you?" Ron asked the two dumb and dumber

They looked at each other, then the people standing behind Ron, and decided to go with the better part of valour. They picked up Draco by the arm pits and went on their way

"Nice hook" Ron heard from the other side of the hallway. He turned to see a short haired burnet smirking at him, she was accompanied by a blond who had an indifferent face outside a small smirk

"Thanks" he answered with a smirk and walked back inside

Harry sighed "Ron, manners"

"Right" Ron paused and turned to the girls "would you like to join us

The girls were amused by the byplay, then surprised by the compartment. The compartment's residents introduced themselves and now it was the girls turn.

"I'm Tracy Davis" the burnet offered opting to sit next to Ron

"Daphne Greengrass" the blue eyed blond spoke

Harry smiled and greeted "welcome to the group"

"The group?" Daphne asked

"We couldn't agree on a name so we just call it the group" Theo offered

"And we just joined?" she asked again

"Yup" Nymmi spoke "it's how she joined too" she pointed at Hermione who was blushing, but happy to actually have friends

"But man, one would think a better welcome would be their own fiancé" Tracy spoke, earning a glare from Daphne

"Who's whose fiancé?" Susan perked up

Tracy ignored Daphne and continued "Daphne and Harry of course" causing the entire room to go quite

After a moment Harry spoke "may I ask how that came to be?"

Daphne sighed "my family and the Black family have a marriage contract agreement that I and the Heir of the Black family are to be married" she explained as she sat next to Nymmi

Harry nodded, his face giving nothing away. He took out a mirror "Sirius" he called a few seconds later the image of Sirius with an apron and some smudges on his face "what are you doing?"

"Hey pup, just baking, those muggle mind healers you set me up with say it might help with the nightmares. Anyway what can I do for ya?" Sirius's voice came through

"I want to know when you were going to tell me I had a marriage contract" Harry spoke with a 'kind' smile that he learned from Grayfia

"Um, oh look the bread is about to burn I gotta go…"

"If you disconnect this call, I'm turning your mustachio pink and you will speak in a French accent till eternity" Harry threatened in a calm and venomous voice

This gave Sirius pause, pink he can deal with, French accent he cannot "it wasn't my fault"

"Explain" Harry spoke with a tired tone

"Orion, my illustrious father, threatened the Greengrass family into the contract. His intention was to have their daughter marry Draco as he thought I was kicked out of the family. When I kicked Cissy out of the family and put you as heir, the contract shifted to you…"

Harry sighed "did you kick Draco out?"

Judging by Sirius's eyes widening Harry knew the answer "I'm going now" Sirius started running

"Sirius" Harry called causing Sirius to pause "maybe get a change of clothes and a wash first. You are going as lord Black"

Sirius nodded "right, of course" and then he was gone

Harry stored his watch, grumbling about daft wizards. He then turned to Daphne and smirked "welcome to the group, wifey"

The combination of Harry's name for her, plus the cat calls from the boys and Tracy and Nymmi staking her claim as the first in 'Harry's Harem' caused Daphne to have the brightest blush she had ever experienced.

The group were soon joined by Cedric Diggory and Hestia Jones, who Nymmi introduced as friends. The rest of the trip was uneventful and Harry got to know Daphne, while Ron was being pestered by Tracy. Hermione is in her own world reading the occlumency book.

Harry and Group disembarked the train with their luggage in shrunk trunks, curtsy of Harry. He needed something to practice his charms and warding on, the result was the trunks. So he gave them as birthday presents.

The call for '"firs' years" bellowed as Harry and the group exited the train. The group headed towards the Half-giant Rubeus Hagrid.

Hagrid led them towards the boats like in the books. Harry had to admit, the castle was beautiful. The trip in the boats was calm and soon enough they were led up the stairs by professor McGonagall.

She gave them the usual spiel about how your house is your family and stuff. Harry just shook his head at the ridiculous bullshit she is spewing.

Harry remembered the actions of house Gryffindor in second and fourth year. Harry also remembered the bullying Luna suffered under her own house.

A moment later they were led inside the great hall. The stool came out and the hat was placed on it. Susan Bones was the first of the group to go,

Susan is a Hufflepuff,

Tracy is a Slytherin

Hermione is a Gryffindor

Daphne is a Slytherin

Neville is a Hufflepuff

Theo is a Slytherin

Then it was Harry's turn, Harry walked to the old Hat "would you like to be cleaned and repaired?" Harry asked the Hat the second it was placed on his head

"Yes please" it… He responded

Harry pulled out his Dark blue and white wand. Its sight caused a lot of people to stare at the beauty that it is. Harry swung his wand ever so slightly. The hat on his head started to change. Its colour changer, or more accurately it returned to the red brown that it once was, a few seconds was all it took for the hat to return as good as new.

"Thank you mister Potter" the hat offered "I haven't felt this young in hundreds of years. Now, where to place you?"

"Ravenclaw" Harry requested

"hmm, yes, I see, you certainly qualify, and since all your friends are spread out as well, might as well cover all houses" the Hat concluded "guess it better be RAVENCLAW" the hat concluded

Harry stood up as the hat was removed by McGonagall and headed for his new house. The reaction was more sedated than the Gryffindor house but Harry was fine with that. The main reason for this is because Ravenclaws get their own rooms; this means Harry can live in his trunk and leave whenever he wants.

Soon enough the whole sorting was through. Dumbles spoke his four words and food started appearing. The food was meh, to be honest. Maybe he can have his elves come train the castle chefs to cook better.

After the meal Dumbles gave his warnings about the forbidden forest and the third floor corridor. Soon enough Harry was led to the Raven's tower by a Penelope Clearwater. The entrance is protected by a riddle, as if the other houses don't have the ability to solve riddles.

"Boys right side girls to the left and Boys aren't allowed to the girls side" she explained "tomorrow morning at breakfast you will get your schedule. Any questions?" she asked the too tired to care eleven year olds

Harry was finally in his room. He set his trunk down and casted a few detection charms and activated a specific ward on the trunk that would stun anything trying to access it, elves included.

Harry wanted to enter his trunk to sleep, but then he saw a light hover at the door. The light multiplied into several lights and pointed at the room door.

"Starting the adventure early I guess" Harry sighed
