Survive (14)

Noah walked over to the corpse in front of him, attempting to grab the dagger. He pulled on the dagger, but it would not release, it had segmented itself really deeply into the mans skull.

He pulled again, slightly harder and it flew out, light as a feather. He tripped backwards from the momentum, but quickly regained his posture. He looked towards Alice, who looked at him with a small smile.

Alice had turned back into a human, she wore three different parkas on top of her own. Dirt filled her face, she had rougher eyes than the last time Noah had seen them. It was as if their shade had stopped glittering.

"Long time since I saw you, I thought you were dead", Noah remarked.

"Umm, okay"

They stared at each other.

"How did you survive?"

"I found a little cave, which I have been staying in. And, when I got hungry I turned into a gorilla and ate the leaves".

"That's pretty useful,"

"How did you survive?", Alice asked.

"Long story short, I found another place to live in," his thoughts swayed back to the scene of his new home burning and his expression turned more grim.

Alice noticed his mood shifting. She had also spotted the black smoke in the sky and decided to investigate it more deeply. She thought that perhaps she could find new comrades there, or help someone escape.

"Let's get going to the cave, I'm quite worried that more of them"

"Sure"

Alice began walking in a direction, and Noah followed closely after. The thought hit him like a stone, he had left the skeleton girl behind.

He told Alice to wait a little while whilst he ran forward and grabbed the girl. He found her face mushed into the snow, and he felt quite bad about it. He picked her up, and began running towards Alice. Her eyes widened up.

They traveled towards the forest, passing a flock of animals standing and grazing n the winter floor. They eventually got to a little hole leading down wards.

They descended down into the cave and found it slightly warmer above then it was in the bottom. Noah saw a bunch of wood on the floor.

"I've tried to create a fire," Alice said, "but I haven't been successful. Noah could though, even though he didn't need it as much as he once did, he could do it now, Shark had thought him. Noah looked down on the ground, his eyes turning darker.

He put down the girl on his shoulder on the floor and stone floor. Alice tried to avoid a sizable distance away from the skeleton, as if it was a venomous snake.

Both of them jumped back, the girls eyes had lit up. Her voice, weak and scrappy, "get me leaves before I starve to death". Her eyes lost their light and returned into a darker form.

Noah's eyes were wide, he began moving out wards, but noticed that Alice was walking the opposite direction. His face turned towards her, there was a bunch of branches thrown at the corner of the room.

Alice lifted a branch which was filled with leaves. She walked towards the girl, before stopping. She raised the branch at Noah, signaling that he should take it.

Noah grabbed the branch and ran his grip along it, grabbing all the leaves. He got down onto his knees, her mouth was a gaping hole with teeth all over, like that of a shark. Since, she wasn't moving Noah simply shoved all the leaves down her mouth.

At an instant, her mouth began moving in circles, cutting all the leaves down to minuscule parts, and pulled them down wards. She had eaten all the leaves Noah had.

Her eyes shot into a bright red, for a second it colored the entire room red but it quickly lowered into a normal small light.

She instantly kicked away from her spot, and crawled backwards like a crab towards a corner of the room. Alice and Noah stared at her, whilst she stared at them.

A roar broke the silence, it was loud but distant. Noah and the skeleton girl recognized it. Noah turned his vision towards the skeleton girl, "What are you?".

"An-incredibly-complex-failure-of-an-experiment", she rapped, "my turn, I see I have not found myself in a yeti's stomach. Who do I have to thank for this?"

Noah raised his hand and simultaneously said, "me". "Of course, my knight in noble armour, see, sadly I have nothing to return your kindness with. So with that, goodbye".

She began walking towards the exit, Noah tried to grab her arm, but, her hand faded through his. "Where are you going?", Noah asked confused.

Noah felt that she was smirking through her hole of teeth, "out of course". "Yes, but then where?", he saw it in her red lights of eyes, it was as if her smirk had died down.

"Aha, my knight in noble armour has saved me again, indeed!", Noah had gotten slightly irked by her calling him a knight.

"My name's Noah", he said, "and mines Alice", Alice butted in.

"Aha, Alice and N-o-ah, and what are you planning to do next?"

"Escape of course," Noah answered for himself, but Alice agreed.

"Aha, so my no… ah has a way out of unfortunate hell, let me hear it", Alice was also intrigued by what Noah had to say and turned towards him.

"Well, before I tell you, I want to know your name."

"Aha, but what if I have no name, what if my name was Alice or Noah, would you believe me" As she said those names, her face morphed into their faces, it made Noah jump backwards.

"Wait, how did you do that".

"Aha, but it doesn't matter. Noah. What does matter is how we shall get out of this spot"

"Well… I don't know if it's true but I've heard that the top of the giant there's a way out.

"Aha, then we shall become giant climbers!" the skeleton girl remarked.
