TAEHYUNG'S POV
└─────────────°•❀•°┘
Taehyung had been excited for the past week about the new changes at the University. He had been talking nonstop to his best friend Jimin about what it would be like to see dark creatures. As a fairy he didn't have many opportunities to be around dark creatures since you know he was always told they could suck his soul right from his body.
An exaggerated rumor, but one that had been told through each generation mostly to scare little ones into being obedient. Taehyung never believed any of those stories anyway, and now he would get to see some amazing creatures up close on a daily basis.
"Honestly Tae I do not know what your fascination is with those dark creatures. They are bad news and I don't think your Halmoni* would like you being around them. You know how she feels about their kind." Jimin said watching Taehyung pick an outfit for their first day.
"Jimin you know that the proper way to address them is 'The Ciaran'." Taehyung said turning and smirking at his friend.
"I don't care what their polite name is, they are bad news and I am dreading this so much." Jimin huffed.
"Look you don't have to talk to them if you don't want to Jimine, they will be in class with us but I'm sure everyone will keep their distance for a while. It's going to weird for everyone, but I'm sure over time things will get better. It's up to us to change things!" Taehyung said lifting a fist in the air.
"You act like they are little lost puppies that need to be saved." Jimin scoffed.
Jimin watched Taehyung rummage through several drawers looking for the right shirt. His friend was one of the rare fairies, ones who were born with special abilities. Ones who were appointed to important roles in their society because of said unique abilities. Taehyung hadn't discovered his unique ability yet, he was still too young. Most of his kind discover their special abilities by their 21st birthday, which was still a couple of months away for the pair.
Taehyung let out an excited squeal when he had finally found the shirt he had been searching for. A white shirt made of a very soft and airy fabric, that some how gave him a very bright glow to his skin. With his baby pink hair and dangling silver earrings he really did look amazing.
"So what do you think?" He asked turning to Jimin.
"You look great as usual, but why are you getting all dressed up? Are you trying to impress someone?" His friend asked lifting an eyebrow.
"What? No! It's our first day and I want to look nice. No special reason I promise. And if I did like someone I would have told you! Now let's find you something, cause this grunge look you are going with is just not working." Taehyung teased.
Jimin let out a fake shocked look making Taehyung break out in laughter. A kind of laugh that was so care free and could make anyone smile from hearing it. Taehyungs kind and warm energy made him loved by anyone who met him, but Jimin always found him too trusting. Now with these tricky dark creatures he was sure his best friend would be drawn in and hurt by one of them. Even though he knew he could never take one down in a fight he would be willing to try if it meant protecting his best friend.

JUNGKOOK'S POV
└─────────────°•❀•°┘
Jungkook had not wanted to go to University to begin with, but he knew trying to argue with his mom about it would lead to a lecture about the importance of a good education. He knew he had to do the best he could because his mom had been saving his whole life to pay for him to go to college, and he owed her to make it worth all her hard work. As an Amarok he didn't know his father, so his mom had raised him on her own. This was pretty normal for their kind. Unlike werewolves, their kind didn't live in packs. They were more solitary and preferred being left alone, in the past they were considered one of the most dangerous of any dark creatures.
They were usually very big and were ruthless hunters, but that was in the past. Although most traits of their past lives had been washed away through the generations, a few traits remained. Such as the males never stayed and help raise the young, it was all business and no getting attached. The females were left to care for the young alone, and for the younger males their instincts to find a partner began by the young age of 18. Jungkook's 18th birthday had come and gone and he had yet to feel any kind of instinct at all to "mate" as they called it.
He didn't see the point of it to be honest.
To go from partner to partner in hopes they will have a little version of him that he will never see or even care about. Seriously what was that even about, instincts to create others like yourself he supposed. Some kind of ancient instinct that never faded, but a stupid one. His mom never seemed to be bothered by this arrangement, she always said that she was so happy to have him and his brother that nothing could make her happier. Also once females have been "mated" they never formed long term relationships with any of their suitors.
The whole thing made Jungkook angry. He knew it was just how things were with his kind, but it didn't seem right. They were the only creatures that seemed to have this bizarre family dynamic. He tried his best to not think about it too much, and promised himself to never mate. He didn't want anyone to be apart of such a barbaric tradition. Although he had heard that more and more of his kind were trying to change things and giving committed relationships a try.
One of his own friends was one of them. His hyung Hoseok had similar thoughts as Jungkook about their traditions and decided to pick one mate and stay with them long term.
Even their friendship was unusual, as their kind tended to not form any personal bonds but preferred keeping to themselves. Jungkook was so glad to know he and Hoseok would be in the same University, but he hadn't realized he would have to room with a Sorcha*. They would be sent an email two weeks before classes of their dorm number and roomate's name and creature specification. They were told it was to help them better familiarize themselves with what challenges they may face this semester.
Jungkook had already decided to try and interact with his roommate as little as possible. He was there to learn not make nice with light creatures.
When the time came and he received the email giving all the information of his roommate he simple glanced at the dorm number and disregarded the rest. He didn't plan on using the number they had provided to contact his roommate, but the same was not the case for his roommate. His roommate that went by the name Kim Taehyung.
