Hero vs. Hero

-Your POV-

You were exceptionally quiet the next morning, which did not escape Jisung's attention as he sat down next to you on the bus after paying his fare.

"Hey, Y/N..."

You looked up from the window, startled as the boy looked at you and smiled. For once, he wasn't holding his book in his hands. Instead, he was holding a rose, his cheeks the same color as its petals. You smiled, nervously at him and accepted his offering, unsure of why you were so nervous in the first place. If he liked you and you liked him, then why were you feeling hesitant?

*It's because of Hyunjin, isn't it?

You didn't need to check your heart to know the answer.

When you got to school, the rose was still in your hands as you walked through the door of the classroom with Jisung. The small-talk dropped to a whisper as the other students glanced at you and Jisung. A couple of girls giggled and pointed.

You both sat down in your seats next to each other, only to be confronted by Hyunjin as he walked in. You tried hard not to stare at his face for too long, afraid that if you did, it would all be over.

"Good morning, Y/N," you heard Hyunjin say. He noticed the rose, "Oh, who's that from?"

You glanced down, uncomfortable with the situation, "uhm-"

"Me." The deep voice startled you as you looked at Jisung in surprise. Since when was his voice so deep?

Hyunjin's eyes seemed to bore into Jisung who stared back, cooly, his gaze as cold and unreadable as ever. You felt yourself shiver. Those weren't the eyes of a boy. They were the eyes of an unforgiving killer. The tension in the air grew. The whispering stopped as students stared at the scene: two boys fighting for the same girl.

As if this has never happened in any Kdrama, ever...I guess seeing it in real life just hits different.

"I didn't ask you. I asked Y/N," Hyunjin said, finally. Jisung's eyes narrowed. If you didn't stop them, now, then a fight was bound to break out.

"Uh, hi. I'm still here, ya know?" The tension in the air broke as the two boys looked at you.

Hyunjin sat down in his desk in front of you and didn't turn around, again.

You were walking down the hall to the library while struggling to carry two new textbooks and your essay from the other night that you had to turn in at the end of the day when someone ran into you, causing your books to fall from your arms. Papers flew everywhere as the books landed on the floor with a bang. A few other students looked over in alarm while you blushed and bent down to clean up the mess. Another hand appeared beside yours and you glanced up to be met with Hyunjin's soft eyes looking back at you, and he helped pick up all your papers before handing them back to you with a smile, "good luck with your essay, Y/N." You thanked him and walked to the library in a daze. Since when was Hyunjin ever walking down the same hall as you? Since when did he change so much?

In science, you were struggling to grasp the concepts that were being taught because the teacher was talking so fast. The notes that you took were short and unorganized, and what was worse- there was going to be a quiz tomorrow on the same material.

Sighing as you looked down at the messy chicken-scratch drawled across your notebook pages, you closed your eyes, wishing that you had taken better notes. There was a tap on your shoulder. You looked up to find Jisung holding out the notes that he took in class. They were meticulously put together, as always.

"Here, these should help you study," he said. You thanked the stars that he was around to help you because his notes were always understandable. Perhaps the quiz would be fine, after all.

Hyunjin was there at lunch, opening the milk carton that refused to open for you. Jisung was there in the library, helping you with your science homework. It was like having two superheroes around, one trying to outdo the other. But to be honest, it was kind of cute to see them fighting.

**One week later**

Your stomach growled as you left the lunchline with your tray. Kimchi, spiced beef, pickled garlic, rice, and a melon slice. Ah, today's lunch was the best.

Out of nowhere, you tripped. Your tray flew from your grip as food rained down on your uniform, hair, and the floor.

"How embarrassing. So pathetic!" a group of girls snickered at the table next to you. They exchanged triumphant glances at one another, snapping pictures with their phones.

You glared up at them as you shakily stood up, trying to pick off the grains of rice from your uniform and hair. One of them, in particular, gave you a venomous smirk, baring those pearly whites that you were more than tempted to knock out of her face.

"Oops," she said, a little too innocently. Her foot moved back under the table.

The girl's smirk grew as the cafeteria teacher monitor appeared behind you with a broom.

"Clean this mess up and next time, watch your step."

"Yes, ma'am." you bowed in apology and reluctantly took the broom, your anger boiling internally. It wasn't even your fault.

"Y/N, why don't you just go back to wherever you came from? Huh? Instead of trying to be a h*e around Park Jisung and Hwang Hyunjin."

*Oh, it's one of those girls.

You recognized the girl as one of the students who were on your bus, the ones that had ignored you on your first day of school.

"Anyways, I hope you will leave them alone, now. Hyunjin oppa is going to be mine, anyway." That one brotherly word made your skin crawl with disgust. Such a normal word ruined by a love-sick lunatic fangirl.

Behind you, you heard a snort of derision.

The girl's eyes melted, "Oh, Hyunjin! You look so handsome, today!"

Hyunjin looked at the tray on the floor and then at your ruined uniform. His eyes skirted yours with worry, "Y/N, are you okay?"

The girl scoffed, then covered it up with a sickeningly sweet giggle, "Don't worry about her. She's obviously fine. Anyways, can you help me study, today?" She batted her eyelashes, her lips puckering up ridiculously like a fish. High school girls and seductive flirting. Whoever thought of this cringe-worthy combination was a nutbag.

*Probably some dumb author sitting at a computer thought this was a wonderful idea. Wonderful, my gluteus maximus.

Hyunjin walked over to the table, leaning down until he was level with the girl's face. Her friends all giggled, squirming in their seats, excitedly. The girl's face flushed a bright pink as she closed her eyes like she was expecting him to kiss her.

"Don't mess with Y/N again, or I will have you expelled from this school." The girl's eyes nearly popped out of her face with surprise. She let out an embarrassing animal sound as Hyunjin glared at her.

Hyunjin stepped away from the table and gently took the broom from your hands. Then, he walked across the room to the teacher monitor at the entrance of the cafeteria. The teacher followed him back to where you stood, glaring at the girls.

"Thank you," you mumbled as you sat down with the rest of the table group. You stole a quick glance at the girls who were now cleaning up the mess on the floor, then smiled.

Your stomach growled.

"Did you not get any more food?" Hyunjin asked.

You shook your head, "they didn't have any left."

A tray of untouched food slid in front of you.

"Here, Y/N. You can have mine," Jisung said, quietly. He resumed reading his book.

Two boys.

One girl.

*This is a problem.
