February 14, 2021: Pretensions

Syn didn't know how to respond to Konrad's honest remarks. She still had reservations on whether he was sincere or simply trying to gain her pity. But then again, she couldn't help but be troubled on what to do.

In what manner should she address the desperation in his voice?

At what extent should she believe the essence of his words?

Although, more than confusion about the genuinity of what he had said, the guilt of making him say such things prevailed in her being.

Syn could, more or less, tell what kind of man Konrad was. As far as she was aware, he wasn't one who would openly concern himself with the problems of other people. It wasn't that he had no time or he couldn't sympathize. He simply didn't care enough to listen. She didn't mind being with a man who had that tendency, considering that they were similar in that aspect.
