There was an uneasy sensation accompanying the silence that had descended in the room. Konrad was looking at Syn with both bewilderment and disbelief in his eyes. But then again, his amazement prevailed over anything else. With the unfading grin on his countenance, he squeezed Syn's hand to urge her to speak.
The lady was already aware that he would be asking questions with regards to her assumption. She was prepared to take all of her queries if that would ease his mind.
"What do you want to know? I should start somewhere, shouldn't I?" Syn asked, the smile on her face softening as she saw him contemplate what to say first.
She thought that he would be mad by her accusations. When all was said and done, her words did sound incriminatory. It was as if she was determined that Konrad had kidnapped a person, a high profile one at that. Syn was relieved that he was only surprised. Otherwise, she would have long been on the floor as she begged for mercy.
