In The Eyes of the Beholder

Kaia walked to Ran as soon as the gunshots fired. He had his hands on the bed as he hung his head, not looking up at Kaia who placed her hand on his back.

She tried to sign to him but he would not look up. She reached into her pocket to take out her phone but as she did that, she was suddenly pulled into an embrace.

"Kaia. Did you see that?" He asked, voice completely devoid of emotions.

She hugged him back instantly, nodding into his shoulder as she poked her face out. His hands were still shaking as the gun dropped from them.

Kaia rubbed his back in an attempt to comfort him however she could. If that is what he even wanted anyway.

Finally, pulling out of the embrace she noticed tears rolling down from his eyes but there was a smile on his face.

He looked at Kaia, "Sorry you had to see that."
