"How precious is it exactly?" Kaia asked, looking down at her arm that is covered with her sleeve but she could still faintly feel the metal on her arm and the occasional pains that would come when she the lifespan increased. 

"Let me ask you this first, what do you think the trinket does?" 

"It ... keeps the person alive longer?" She asked, looking at him sheepishly. 

"Well, yes. That is also what the public thinks it does. But that isn't all." He sighed, falling silent for a second as Kaia looked out the window to see the increasing number of trees and a decreasing number of cars and people as they continued to drive ahead.

"Alex?" Dorran asked, pressing something at the side of the door. Alex's cheerful voice came out of the speaker there.
