"I think we should call a nurse." Faith whispered to Max who nodded at her.

"You can choose to believe me or not." Ran said, shrugging. "But that does not make something truer or even less."

"What makes you think that Kaia is still alive?" Shia asked, putting her hands on her hips.

He looked at her and then pointed to Carlotta's sleeping body.

"As long as she is alive, so is Kaia. Well, her spirit anyway." He leaned into the pillow behind him. "You know that death is very ... complicated.

"It is not just you get killed and now you are dead. There are some other things."

"So ... what should we be doing now then?" Aliya asked, looking up at him with her big eyes.

"We need to get the other two trinkets. No matter how long it will take us," he said, frowning slightly as he stared at his hand.

There is a dull ache where the trinket was. This was enough proof that he knew that Kaia is still alive somewhere.
