Waiting Card

They then got up from the table and walked towards the Guild building. On the way, countless people looked at Arthur for several reasons: curiosity, interest, and some with an amused expression. Everyone here was bandits of some kind, and the feeling they gave was very overwhelming, but due to Arthur's high resilience, he barely felt anything.

But just as they were looking at him, Arthur analyzed every person he could see. Since he was wearing a cap and mask, no one could see his eyes analyzing each person here. Arthur was prejudging everyone here and classifying them based on what he could see in everyone's soul: murderers, thieves, fighters and people who were here more out of necessity than amusement.

Not even a minute passed before they arrived at the Guild's reception and a beautiful receptionist received them.

"Good evening, gentlemen. What service could I be providing for you?" A gentle smile appeared on her face when she spoke.

Vitor stepped forward and said, "This man is here to take the test and register with the Guild. I would like you to take care of the necessary processes."

"Ah, fine. Wait just a moment!" She then started typing a few words on the computer next to it and soon a small machine issued a numbered card. She then took the number 43 card and handed it to Arthur "Go to that side room and wait for your number to be called. Soon after that your test will be done. Good luck!" Again, her gentle smile graced the perfectly angled face.

Arthur then took the card and didn't even look at Vitor before heading towards the living room.

Vitor, who had stayed behind, spoke loudly and waved: "I'll wait for you out here, boss!"

Arthur continued walking and spoke in a thick voice, to disguise: "No need". He had also used a little Will to make his message clear.

After that, Arthur entered the room and the doors closed behind him, leaving Vitor and the receptionist, mainly, a little tense.

For Vitor, this soon dissipated and he gave a smile full of hatred and fury. "Leaving this room is going to be your death sentence, asshole!" He then left the Guild and went to meet his friends, who knew and were part of the plan.

As soon as Arthur entered the room, he saw about 12 people sitting on benches, probably waiting for their times to be called. He also saw 5 separate rooms, each with a numeric counter above.

With calm eyes, he examined all the candidates, but saw no one to get his attention, so he just sat on the last chair in the room and waited for his turn. Without any cell phone or phone to listen to music, Arthur just closed his eyes and started taking a nap. Before his rebirth, at school, he was well known for being a very sleepy person, and years of practice brought this useless skill to him.

As soon as he closed his eyes, all of his other senses became a little more acute, so he could hear everything the people there said. Conversations ranged from personal things, chit-chat and among other things. Seeing that there was nothing interesting, he dozed off.

Across the room, three men around the age of 27 were talking about different subjects. As soon as they noticed that one more person, a new subject was brought up.

"Oh, Tiago! Look at the new guy. He doesn't look very strong." One of the men, called Matheus, spoke in a whisper to the guy in the middle.

"And still with all those dark clothes. Is he some kind of emo or rocker, by any chance?" The other man, Bob, spoke wryly in his voice.

Tiago, the middle one, said proudly: "Ignore these people, folks. This type of person is the one who comes to take the test and who, IF he passes, can die at any moment. He thinks that this" Lone Wolf "style is super cool. Little does he know he can die at any moment! " His inflated chest showed everyone how superior he wanted to be with his words.

The two men quickly agreed, as if not doing so at the speed of light was a sin.

Other people heard these three and soon this conversation also spread throughout the room. It wasn't even a minute after he arrived, but everyone already had the same opinion about Arthur. A weak person who can die at any moment in this money-driven world.

This conversation did not escape Arthur's ears, but he soon ignored it. It is beyond him to get into fights over stupid conversations. If it were before, a fight would definitely happen.

Over time, people left the rooms with different types of expressions. Some with happy expressions and others with sad and desperate expressions. After them, others entered and soon this cycle was repeated, until it was Arthur's turn to enter.

He, together with the chatty trio who started the conversation and another person of medium height covered in a black cape from head to toe, entered the separate rooms.

Upon entering the room, all Arthur saw was a pure white room, with a few scattered machines and equipment. Right in front of the entrance, next to the wall, on a desk, was a black man in a social dress, typing on the computer in front of him. Some time passed before he looked at Arthur and said:

"Take off your excessive clothes. Jackets, sneakers, bags, capes. Cap and mask too, unless it's part of your identity." After saying that, he soon dropped his gaze to the computer again and continued to type.

Seeing that there was no problem with that, Arthur soon took off his sneakers, jacket and just that. His mask and cap remained. Arthur's built-up muscles were bigger and much more defined. Veins were showing on his skin, and blood in abundance was circulating through them.

"I already took it out. Anything else?" After taking everything out, Arthur asked the man.

The man soon got up, pulled out a tablet and walked over to Arthur.

"Follow me, please!" After that, the man started walking to the machines and equipment.

Arthur eagerly started to follow him. His muscles were throbbing with the urge to be tested, and his eyes gave off a strange urge to fight.
