Okay, so these types of titles never appeared on the competition before.
Even till last year's competition, the title was mostly; fabricate a suit, we give you cadets, he will fight against another contestant wearing your design, if you win, you get to fabricate another suit and fight against another contestant, if you lose, try next year.
As simple as that.
However, this year, everything was different. Every match was different.
It was no longer cadets, who used their suits, it was the war military.
It was no longer, simple tree-based format. Instead, everything was random.
"Is it because of my luck?" Eden questioned. However, shook his head.
If was too vast of a change, no way it was just because of luck. If anything, it might have helped him by placing against the easiest contestants.
Even now, he watched the feed as the soldier wearing his suit, was able to totally wreak his opponent's designs for three continuous matches.
After which he easily enter into the top twentieth.
As the match processed on, the remaining contestants finally reached to a total of one hundred.
And just like he had expected, there were few contestants from the previous years' competition. Some were graduates from the best and the second-best school of Dome Star Cluster. While some were University graduates.
Some were his friends from the high-school too.
.....
"So System, what do you think about my current performance?" Eden mentally questioned the system, in a very good mood.
[As long as the host takes on the third rank, the system will consider host as the champion.]
"Yeah! About that," Eden replied, "Why third? Why not first?"
[Taking the first and second position is impossible for the host.]
"Why?" Though Eden was fine with the third position, he was not cool about not knowing the reason.
[...]
"Fine keep your secret. Let's see what happens in the end?" Eden replied to the system.
...
As instructed by the comm, he started walking towards the other side of the hall where he could see loads of various types of equipment and modules, left as it is.
The moment he reached the other side, he saw others too arriving at the site.
"For the next match, everyone is to fabricate a weapon." The host floated towards the stage, using his anti-gravity module, "Unlike other matches, there will only be the top ten contestants selected."
"After all, every contestant now should have already known, their own capabilities and compared amongst themselves."
"For now, all of you, are going to fabricate a weapon. Which type, we don't care?" He continued, "The ranking will be based on the final evaluation of the weapon."
"And so, on your mark, get set and go..."
Without waiting for any other words, everyone rushed forward towards the piles of modules.
Amongst the hundreds, only the top ten was going to be chosen. That was a lot of pressure.
And then there were the modules. Who knew what kind of junks were placed on the piles?
Hence, rushing forward they started gathering every powerful-looking parts. That they could fabricate. Eden however, started walking towards the piles placed on the corner.
"As expected no-one chose any parts from this pile," Eden mumbled while grabbing an inner module of the laser rifle, from some very complex looking piles of pieces of equipment and modules.
Suddenly as he grabbed the module, another hand grabbed his arm startling him.
It was a white thin hand.
Looking towards his side, at the lady who grabbed him, he raised his eyebrows.
"Lady, can you let go of my arm?"
The lady without leaving his arm, looked directly into his eyes, "Leave that pile, and go to the next one."
The hell. Did she just ordered him?
Hearing her reply, Eden was starting to get angry.
"And why should I leave? Hmm?" Eden questioned, "Anyone can choose any piles to work with? Get to the side and start grabbing your own modules?"
Pissed Eden pulled his arm out of her grip. And started grabbing other modules.
"You don't wanna piss me off, kid." The lady spoke back to him, "Or I will make your life hell."
Hearing the reply Eden was startled. That line was just too familiar. Turning around he looked at the lady and finally questioned, "Are you somehow related to Victor? Or, Laffey?"
"Who are those?" She spat back.
"Oh!" Giving the simple reply, he turned around and started grabbing other pieces of modules, before finally turning to leave.
However, the girl stood in front of him and showed no sign of letting him go.
"Are you gonna let me pass or what?"
"Leave those stuff behind or I will scream." The girl replied while smirking at him.
"Beg your pardon?"
"Leave those stuff behind, or I will destroy you." She repeated as if she was his supreme or something.
Hearing the answer, Eden's rage finally hit the top. Without even looking at her he turned at the host who was right above him.
"Hey host, are you going to take care of this mental or what?"
Suddenly everyone's gaze turned to him. Then, it turned to the lady in front of him.
Eden was standing still with a lot of modules in his hand, while the lady was in front of him, had her hand behind her.
However, it was not the host that spoke, instead it was the general.
"Is there any problem?"
Hearing the general speak, suddenly everyone started looking at him.
"I don't know why?", Eden replied gesturing his head at the girl, "But this girl right here is not letting me pass."
Looking at the girl, the general suddenly got down from the air and approached closer to them, before suddenly bowing a little bit.
However hearing the next words, Eden nearly fainted.
"Is something the problem, Royal Princess."
