Hiss...
Hearing the title everyone took in a deep breath.
"Wait! Did he say, Royal Princess?"
"The Royal Princess?"
"How's that even possible?"
"It could be possible. No-one has heard of her for more than fifteen years."
"But why is she here?"
People started raising one question after question.
In the entire Dome Star Cluster, everyone was under the rule of one family, The Supreme Royal Family.
Basically it was a royal family, that had hundreds of other royal families and governments under their regime. They were Royal of the Royals.
The subjects had never the princess before, they only knew she existed. Why?
It was because, she had left the Dome Cluster, to study on a higher rate star cluster, a very, very long time ago.
Which star-cluster did she go to study?
No-one knew. It was because this knowledge was never given to anyone out of the royal family. However now, because she had somehow entered the competition, only the military was given this information beforehand.
Hence, the general had also known about it.
However, Eden was just like everyone else. He didn't know her.
But, now that he knew. And he also knew that he got in a mess, that he himself made.
Hearing the sudden revelation, everyone became gobsmacked. The host, the contestants, and also the audience.
The only people who were not surprised were the general and the military personnel.
"Hey, system! Are you sure the luck is still in effect?"
[The luck is in effect.]
However, even after hearing the reply from the system, he still wasn't quite sure. Because the princess was still glaring at him.
"Huh! That's a great twist." Eden spoke, "Your highness."
"It is, isn't it?" She replied smirking at him.
However, his next sentence again stunned everyone.
"We were all so stupid." he replied shaking his head."All those preparation, for what? No wonder, the first and second position were never ours, to begin with."
"It's not?" Suddenly another contestant remarked shocked.
"Of course, it's not ours. It's the princess's spot." Someone replied.
"That's true we can't take it." Another one replied, with a bit of distress in his voice.
Everyone finally understood, why there was such a great difference this year. It was probably because there was going to be a new technology revelation the royal family was planning on doing by using this competition as the starting point.
After all, the princess had been studying in a higher tier star cluster.
Hence, the change in the format, also the reason why so many military personnel were here. They were basically here as a protection, for the princess.
At least that's what everyone understood.
"What are you talking about?" She questioned with a bit of anger in her voice. Even though it was true, she acted like she didn't know about it.
"Hey, Kid. Ask for forgiveness from the royal princess," the general replied, looking at Eden. "For what you called her before."
Ahh! He actually forgot about that. He recalled calling her mental.
"Royal Princess, please forgive me." Eden apologized to her, bowing a bit. After all, even though they might not care much, she was still a royalty.
And Eden too had a bad habit of giving anyone names.
Also, he didn't want to make a problem, for the other Warsons. After all, not everyone could be a mechanic or a reagent producer.
"It's fine." She finally replied shaking her hand, "You can carry on."
Acting a bit sad, he turned around and walked towards his own assigned area.
Finally, he took out of pieces of modules from the storage module, which he snicked inside when everyone's attention was turned to the bowing general.
"Forgive me, for taking the modules," he finally mumbled the completed the sentence and started working on those.
At the same time, he also recalled the system's task.
So that's what the system meant when it mentioned only up to the third rank. The reason he was never going to achieve the previous two rank was because those already belonged to someone else. For example, the Royal Princess, who was in front of him, a few moments ago.
.....
While Eden began his task of making a laser rifle, elsewhere Inside a big and enclosed room.
The general was talking with another person, regarding the sudden revelation of even the second spot already been taken.
"He said the first and second rank was taken over and they never had a chance," the general spoke, "I know about the princess, but who is this other person."
"Yes! This is very unsettling news to everyone." The person replied, "The boy spoke as if he was very sure from the beginning, and was looking forward to knowing about both people."
"Yes, but that clam about both spots being taken." The person replied in a serious voice.
"In any case, we need to find that another person." The general replied.
"I have to say though; if what he said randomly became true," the person smirked before continuing, "This guy has even greater information network than ours."
"Affirmative," general replied, "though, he still didn't recognize the princess."
"Hmm. How come the hall suddenly looks a bit sparse?" The general questioned looking at the hall.
"It's because of the princess," The person replied breathing out a long breath.
"That kid does have a foul mouth. If they hadn't known about till the end, it would have been too easy. Now I don't know, what kind of impact this event is going to bring." He continued.
"It won't be simple." General agreed, " It is a type of cheating after all."
"She did not cheat" suddenly a female voice startled them, "Only she does have the capability, to be on the top."
"I don't disagree." The person replied, "However, that's not what everyone else will think."
"Who cares, What they think?" The female scuffed.
"Our enemies." The general replied in a serious voice pointing at the contestants, "Our enemies care what they think."
"You are right. General." The person too replied in a serious voice, "I am sure many of the contestants from this program, will be given various offers."
General nodded and spoke grimly, "While they are acting quite right now, I am pretty sure they're raging from the inside."
"That, they certainly are." The person replied, "And those who could not control their rage, they have already left. Some of them were those who were guaranteed to be among the top twenties at the very least."
"Traitors." The female huffed, "All of them. Can they even compete against my daughter?"
Suddenly this time, it was the general who replied with a bit of rage in his voice, "Your highness, not to be rude, but some can."
He continued, "And I believe the next match will prove that point."
.....
After working for half an hour, he had already dismantled some modules and made some tweaks, before finally building them up. The princess should have already known, that he had taken away modules by now.
Still, he didn't care. The world had already changed a whole lot. Even though the Royals were powerful, they were nothing when compared to the Galactic Association.
And galactic association, valued both mechanics and gene producers.
Hence, this was also the reason why all of them could act so haughty. It was because they had the right to act haughtily.
After, continuing for an hour or so, he had completely wrapped up the entire thing.
The system was the main reason, why he didn't hesitate to work with these parts. When he bought the skills from the system, those skills were not bound based on the star cluster capabilities.
In other words, he could use any instruments just fine, be it fourth-rate or first-rate star systems.
All he was limited by were money, materials that he had access, and probably licenses he could acquire.
"This thing is just as powerful as my kinetic rifle," Eden mumbled before finalizing the weapon.
As he walked towards the stage, the princess again stood glaring, in-front of him.
"Is something any problem, Royal Princess," Eden spoke as respectfully as possible, even though he knew the reason.
"..." Princess was dumbfounded hearing his reply.
"You are very bold," she spoke with a hint of anger in her voice.
"Am I?" He acted surprised, "Though I have no idea, why the royal princess would say as such?"
He replied still bowing a bit.
Princess had no idea why, but the more he talked, the more she got angry.
"Do you think, just by joining some powerful pieces of modules, you will suddenly have a powerful weapon?" She replied while shaking her hair to the other side, "Do you have any idea on just how many tweaks you could have done on those modules before sticking it together?"
"Your highness, I am a beginner level mechanic," Eden replied presenting the certificate he got from the mechanic association.
"I have used the same modules and equipment that you have chosen," she spoke sharply, "Only after looking at the final results, will you understand how small your mind really is."
Turning around, she harrumphed and left.
.....
"Ararara..." Eden mumbled, and started walking towards the instructed area, "Seems like I have gotten the attention of a very powerful person.
"I don't like getting attention."
