Someone Got Worried

Her phone miraculously turned on after her third try and she felt like her heart was about to pop out because of happiness. She could see the glimmering light that indicated it was still alive and it shone brightly as it was like a miracle from heaven. (This is just a normal phone)

She read 20 messages on her notifications and it was mostly from the telecom company her phone was registered to.

There were 15 messages and 5 missed calls from Benny, whom she thinks of as one of her friends.

He was the guy who would contact her whenever there's a car racing ready for her. Benny was also the leader of a notorious gang in the neighborhood and would officiate most car races.

He's a buff guy with a scary face and he's absolutely good at fighting. But what nobody knows is he's a closet gay and I'm the only one who has knowledge about it ...and his sex buddies.

'Hey B, There's a race this Monday. You up for it? The cash is particularly big this time'

'B??? Where you at?'

'Are up for it or no? Cash is about 20k, you sure?'

'Yo you missed the race'

'B? Are you dead?'

'Should I go to the police and report you're not replying?'

'Beatrice, should I go to your funeral now?'

'Hey!? It's almost a month now. Are you ok?'

She read the messages of Benny one by one while squeezing the rest of her remaining brain cells since her phone's all smashed up and the messages appear to be like codes that she should decipher first to read.

It was understandable for Benny to react like that, it was unusual that Beatrice wouldn't reply to him if there was car racing involved. She was always up for any race and wouldn't say no especially with that huge amount of money as a prize.

She texted Benny but the smashed screen made it impossible for her to type. It was rough and painful as her fingers brushed on the screen. She could feel the grainy surface and tiny pieces of glass peeling out from the phone.

She had no choice but to call Benny.

She pressed the call button and it ringed a couple of minutes until Benny answered the call.

"Beatrice?! In what world did you wander off you little bitch. Don't you know how worried I was, that I was ready to storm off in your parent's home which I don't know where the location was?! And you just thought of contacting me after a month huh?! " Benny boomed with a very loud and rough greeting that she was sure her eardrums were tortured for that short amount of time.

"Benny you're whining like a little girl." She told him nonchalantly.

"Like a little girl?! A little girl?! Dude you were gone for about a month and now you're suddenly contacting me as if nothing happened! I heard you got jailed but then you suddenly disappeared!

I texted and called you but there were no signs of you coming back alive!

I even informed you about a race but you never replied which by the way was very unusual. I got very worried that maybe you got kidnapped and got yourself killed and dumped somewhere after getting released because let's face It, your attitude's a reason for you to get killed. I did not go to the gay club for days now because of how worried I am!"

Benny sounded like a machine gun rapping and spouting out a hundred words per second.

But it made her realize how worried Benny was for her. Racing was practically her source of income since she never wanted to rely on her parent's money and Benny doesn't know her family is rich. He only knows that her parents were kind of a psychopath and were negligent based on how she described them.

"How is it my fault you didn't go to one of your gay clubs? And sorry, my phone broke and I was super busy because of my parents. But don't worry I'm alive, kicking well and I'm sure I'm not in danger..well as of now…..probably."

She tried to explain to him, leaving out the details concerning her marriage.

"What happened B? You never missed any races for 4 years until now and you were never out of contact." Benny asked in a worried tone and she could imagine him having an anxious face.

"It's a long story. I can't tell it to you on the phone." I told him since I don't want to talk about my marriage on the phone.

"Oh, there's a race this weekend, you should better come and tell me everything or I'll ban you to the deepest of hell, "

Benny's different when he talks to me. His gayness would come out and he usually sounds like a girl except for that voice of his. Maybe that's why he's kind of attached and clingy because he can show his true self to me.

As a guy with a scary face, built body, and a leader of a gang he's expected to be manly, menacing, and not some girly gay. He thinks it would lessen the gang's morale and views of him as a capable leader but I'm someone he could confine with his gayly needs and someone he could trust not to expose his secret or anything.

"Yup, expect me to be there. Just send me the place later… and I'll be present next weekend."

Beatrice also needed some cash so she needed to participate in that race for the prize money. She can't rely on someone for her needs or for money and she absolutely doesn't want to ask Lucas to provide for her.

"You better show your ass here and tell me everything."

"Yeah, yeah. Don't worry I'll show up and besides, I badly need the money."

She was able to get the money that was just lying in her room but it wasn't enough for her to last and she would eventually use it all up.

"Ok ok, Anyways I need to go. You called me in the midst of a meeting with another fang and I really need to go back. See you this weekend"

"Ok bye"

She heard the disconnect tone as he hung up on her and she checked the time indicating it was already 5:00.

She needed to get to Lucas's home but she does not feel like going. She dragged her feet to the garage and popped herself on her car seat.
