Beatrice hailed a cab and told the driver where to go. She fished her wallet for money and got little money to spare for, so she used it all up for the fare.
"Here you go" she paid the driver as soon as they arrived and went out of the cab.
The massive gate came into view and she rang the doorbell. The sound of it resounded throughout the house and one of the maids frantically opened the gate for her.
"Where is Father?" She asked the maid as she stepped foot inside the household. It was eerily quiet and most of the maids were either on break or resting.
"Sir John went out for business" she answered politely.
"How about Mother?"
"She also went out"
Why did she even bother asking? Her parents were mostly away from home, that it looked like the maids and the workers were the ones living in their house.
"Why did they buy this house if they won't live and stay in it?" She bitterly said.
Her contempt and resentment for her parents were still present in her inner being. It was a fire in her heart that was hard to put out.
She hated them for being selfish and only had the company in mind. She resented how they placed a huge debt under her name and used his father's illness to give her up to Lucas Landcaster.
But there's nothing she could do since the deed was already done. She was already married to him
"Umm, do you know where my father kept my car?" She asked the maid and she thought deeply.
"I think Ma'am's car is in the garage" she felt relief washed through her as she thought her car experienced misfortune and torture in her father's hands.
She loves to join car races and sometimes go overspeeding on the streets and her parents were greatly against it. But what can they do, the feeling of having an adrenaline rush after stepping on the accelerator to speed up more and knowing you're traveling a long distance in just a short amount of time, brings her happiness.
They couldn't separate her and her Ford Mustang who has been with her through thick and thin and through battles like getting jailed and receiving sermons from her parents.
Her parents even threatened her that they would dismantle her car if there's a chance that they would be able to get hold of it.
She went down to the garage and saw that her car was still alive and was not dismantled. It looked nothing out of the ordinary and she was thankful for that.
She checked the engine and turned it on using her spare key to see if it was kicking well and she almost squealed out of joy seeing it was not yet dead.
She hugged her car, extending her arms and her body was latched on the hood.
"Oh Baby, I really thought you were a goner ever since father took you in"
Well, she would really file a case and rally outside with a placard if her father really did something to her car.
The maid gave her a weird look as she saw Beatrice's odd behavior. She coughed lightly due to the second embarrassment brought by seeing Beatrice being lovey-dovey and talking with a nonliving thing.
"What? Can't I have an emotional moment with my car?" She became stiff as Beatrice asked her a weird question.
"Uhh, no ma'am" the maid answered with a serious tone.
Beatrice chuckled, "That was only a joke. No need to be so serious and stiff."
The maid gave her a forced smile but soon calmed down due to what Beatrice told her.
"Oh right, where's the key to my car?"
Beatrice has a spare key but the key she was constantly using had a keychain that was linked to it.
It was a heart with a big L engraved on it and she had that keychain ever since she was young but she couldn't remember who gave it to her. She was very young at that time and throughout the years her memory during that time was blurry.
But she knew someone gave it to her and she held it close to her heart. She knew the person was important but she couldn't remember who.
"I think it's in Sir John's office" the maid replied to her.
"Can you please get it. I need to stop by in my room to look for my phone"
The maid blinked twice and panic was written all over her face.
"But ma'am, we can't just enter Sir's office. It's against the rules."
She scoffed at the word rules. Beatrice Chastain err...Landcaster doesn't know the meaning of rules and that they're just something worth for her to break. She loves doing what's opposite and what's against the rules.
"Pfft what do you mean rules? And besides, I'm giving you permission to enter that place. You could even mess up the documents there if you want" she said nonchalantly and the maid gave her a horrified look.
"I would get killed if I mess any of Sir's documents."
The maid looked so terrified that Beatrice was starting to pity her. They all knew how her father was a workaholic and the documents inside his office were all important. So you could guess how Father would react if any of those would get lost or would be misplaced.
"Don't worry. They don't have the guts to kill you and you're practically safe since I'm the one who told you to go inside his office."
Beatrice gave her a light smile that displayed all her confidence and the maid hesitantly turned her heels to go to her father's office.
"Oh and if you find it. I'll just be there in my room" she further added.
Beatrice took a last glance at her car and grinned.
"Don't worry, baby. You'll be out of this hellhole and see the sun in no time."
She went up to her room and started to search for her phone. She remembered that this was the last place she saw her phone since her condo was sold off and she became busy with the wedding preparations.
"Ugh, the wedding preparations. Just thinking about it makes me want to throw up rainbow-colored acids"
She opened the drawers, cabinets, the bookshelf in her room but her phone was nowhere to be seen. She ransacked her wardrobe, looked under the bed, and even on the toilet seat but there was no sign of her phone.
The maid already returned with her key and even offered to help her but they were not able to find it.
"Where the heck did it wander off?" She scratched her head out of frustration and the room was getting humid and got so hot so she decided to open her window.
She noticed that there was something glistening on the leaves and her curiosity got the best of her.
She went down to the garden and found the glistening object that was hiding under some plants.
And voila!…..it was her phone.
Her phone? But how did it get there?
*****
A month before….
Beatrice searched for a Lucas Landcaster on her phone and read some articles about him.
"One of the sought out bachelors in the year with his manly and strong features blah blah...This man rocked the world after blah blah blah…"
She pressed the images and pictures of Lucas rolled on her phone. There were pictures where he was in a business suit but most of them were candidly shot.
'Here I was expecting he would have a picture as an underwear model….but he's hot. Not bad as a husband'
Beatrice suddenly stopped and stood up.
"What did I just say? Not bad as a husband? Aaaargh Beatrice Chastain you're out of your mind!"
So to summarize it all, she got mad after searching up Lucas and knowing he was so hot and admitting he was hot and also thinking that she'll marry this hot shot guy.
Beatrice opened the window, "Geronimoooo! Goodbye to you Lucas Landcaster! You won't be able to get me now!"
She yelled as she finally got rid of her phone with a picture of Lucas on it.
******
"Oh right, I threw it after searching for Lucas Landcaster on Google but then I got mad thinking I'll get married to him and suddenly threw my phone outside....but I thought it was only a dream."
Am I stupid?!
She was ready to bury herself there and there but she never knew she would find her phone in the garden with shattered glass.
Huh? A shattered glass?
She glanced down at her phone and it had a smashed screen.
Beatrice could feel her soul leaving out her body after she looked at the state of her phone.
"No way! How could it break that easily?!"
How could it not? Her delicate phone was thrown at a height of 18 feet above the ground. What phone could not have a shattered screen after that fall….. unless it has fiberglass?
But her delicate phone had some willpower and got her stubbornness from her owner so it became a Frankenstein after 3rd times of trying to bring it back to life.
