South Balcony (3)

Kinsey immediately let go of his grip when he realized that Katie was the one woken his up. At first, he thought there were people who had evil intent approaching to kill him. Because of that, Kinsey gripped the girl's hand reflexively.

For a dozen years, he has been trained and undergoes dangerous missions to kill many hazardous people who also want to kill him. His reflexes had formed even when he was sleeping. He will wake up if there was a small noise or someone touches him. Therefore, he reflexively gripped the hand that touched his shoulder.

Now Kinsey regretted it when he saw the perfect reddish circular mark on Katie's wrist. Kinsey's face turned sour, and guilt enveloped him.

"Since when were you here?" Kinsey didn't mean to say it coldly, but it still sounded cold and unfriendly to Katie's ears.

"Sorry, I didn't know you were here. I thought you would catch a cold if you kept sleeping here, so I tried to wake you up." Katie explained, lowering her head as she was a little frightened to look straight into Kinsey's eyes.

Seeing Katie's fear and good intentions towards him made Kinsey's expression soften. He had to fix his lousy temper every time he woke up. Kinsey thought in his mind.

"I won't bother you anymore," Katie said as she straightened up and turned back inside.

"Want to drink with me?"

Katie's steps stopped at the offer of the man behind her. She turned to Kinsey, confused why the man invited her.

"This place is a public place. You don't have to go just because I'm here. How about drinking with me?" Kinsey pointed at the wine bottle on the table next to him with his chin. "Besides, you've also brought your empty glass."

Katie glanced at the glass she had been carrying, and then, she glanced at the bottle of wine before shifting her gaze back to the man.

The truth is... she doesn't want to be alone with a man. Especially with the man she just met that day. She still hasn't recovered from her trauma, and she couldn't find any comfort if she was alone with a man.

She was afraid, her anxiety would actually change the weather in this place. It's better that she refused the offer and returned to her room as soon as possible.

But why did her heart telling her otherwise? Somehow her heart tried to urge her to stay.

Why? Why does her heart conflict with her mind?

Katie swallowed nervously and walked over to the man. It's quite astonishing, actually. The man's eyes were able to hypnotize her as if she could not refuse the man's offer to drink with him.

Kinsey did put on a flat face without any expression, but he could see something was wrong with Katie's stance. For as long as he could remember, Katie was a cheerful child, open and sociable with strangers. But why now the girl looked doubtful as to if she was scared of something?

Well, maybe because it's been over a dozen years, people's character might change. Because of that, Kinsey didn't care much about it.

He stood up to pour wine into Katie's winery glass and then sat back in his chair.

He was even more confused when he saw Katie just stood rooted to the spot without moving.

"Sit down, you will be tired if you stand still."

Katie looked at the long chair Kinsey had sitten. Even though the chair was quite long, enough for three to four people to sit, but still... she will sit next to the man. Not to mention, Kinsey was currently sitting in the middle part. If she sat there, Katie was afraid that her trauma would reappear, and her curse would actively cause the weather to become worse.

"I'd rather stand. I hope you don't mind." Katie finally answered and walked away from Kinsey and leaned her back on a pillar.

Kinsey looked suspiciously at Katie. Undoubtedly, Katie's attitude was not only like a frightened person but also anxious. His sharp brain starts working. Does the girl not feel comfortable with a man or... did something happen that made the girl traumatized by a man?

Is it possible Aiden was the cause? After all... the only devil man who put a lot of wounds on Katie's clean skin was that person. This girl may be traumatized by what she is experiencing and does not want to be near a man.

Kinsey gripped the winery glass hard, thinking about this possibility. Fortunately, Aiden was no longer in this world. Otherwise, he would want to cage him alive and torture him to death.

Realizing he almost broke his glass, he quickly put the glass on the table. He did not want to make the girl who now kept her distance from him afraid of him and tried to run away.

Just tonight, for tonight, Kinsey wants to feel close to that girl once again.

His first love.
