Suurin was nervous as he delicately picked up the calligraphy brush set up in front of him in his husband's office but with a long slow breath to break the silence he began to write his poem.
I'm not all out of hope yet even though
One bruise may break me
With your fortitude towards this heart of mine
I hear that it's easy to hate you but I can't help but love you and your light that burns me so deep
It's hard to get release here in your blue shadow
Where you spend your heart's time
Believing all your past's lies
And it makes me sad for that heart of yours
And it makes me mad at you which makes me melt to pieces when I'm held by your eyes
And then I despise that I'm
broken
For loving what you refuse to show me
And perhaps I am the fool that you say I am but perhaps its you who mistook my kindness to your hurt for weakness
But I know I don't have to lie to keep the dream of us alive
For my heart's truth is what I have known from the moment your hand touched mine
That the darkness may be deep
You drew me in like a moth to your flame
The fire I see in your eyes
shines too bright for you to hide from me
I see it
I see the real you
Even through your words pierce straight through my chest just like a thread goes through a needle
I know the you that you yourself refuses to believe in
And I wish that what little hope I do still have will endure the heartache
All through this journey called life
knowing you are in there somewhere
Far away from my touch
But as you bury yourself
in great misery
I fear to lose this spark life that i've found in your eyes only when you let your mask fall away
I wish that one of these nights you could at last tell me what it's like to no longer fear your love for me
But still here you are
Eroding like a river stone
A porous husk of yourself
Until you grind yourself away
into the deep river of pain
Pale
Listless
And frozen
No matter how much I tell you that locking your heart away in a blackened silence won't bring our heart's peace
For it is as I have told you on these cold nights
This love that we share doesn't need perfection
It simply needs you and I
Until either this hope of mine turns to dust in the winds
Or you finally set yourself free from your chains that you keep around your shattered soul
Even if those shatters cut
I promise I won't leave you all alone
You and I are both broken
And we both need to share this light
The light I see in your eyes
The light of love's way!
He then rolled up the paper and placed it next to his husband's sword then left to wait for him at the Pavilion.
