Sweet Love

Over the next few weeks, everyone seemed to have calmed down and Kyion and Suurin were both seemingly the same as they were before but at the same time different somehow.

Kyion was still distant but it wasn't avoidance like before instead he seemed to have drifted off into the background almost like a crane in a painting of reeds.

Gracefully always watching while stepping carefully.

He was never too far away, distant but always there watching and protecting from only a few feet away.

Suurin felt comforted by it but at the same time bashfully awkward, he would see his husband watching him with soft eyes from across the room in the mirror while he combed his hair and it would make him blush.

Anytime Suurin made a noise of discomfort Kyion would twitch his body to face him the way he did when he had to jump to action but settle down once he saw everything was alright and anytime Suurin would have trouble getting up or slip Kyion would be at his side as fast as wind cracking through crisp bamboo.

He would tell Suurin to eat more food during dinner and he had even bought extra fish for Suurin.

He still stayed in his office instead of sleeping in bed and they never really spoke much but while Suurin was asleep Kyion would quietly sneak in and sit beside the bed then watch Suurin slumber softly while tucking him back in under the covers and fixing the blankets every now and then until the sun would start to rise and he would leave.

One night Suurin started to cry and panic in his sleep and Kyion had no idea what to do so he laid next to him and held him close to prevent him from hurting himself.

Kyion wanted to stay next to Suurin like this yet he was afraid.

My hands…

What damage my hands could do

This frail beauty in my arms as delicate as a petal of cherry blossom could be crushed in my palm if I wasn't careful

And my son who is yet to enter this would is still so small and helpless resting in the belly of his Daha unaware of the dangers outside…

If I were to ever lose control or even touch too roughly such a small life would be as easily put out as the small flame of a candle!

These cruel hands of mine don't deserve to touch such a beautiful flower and make it wither!

He stayed until sunrise then quickly got up to leave but he couldn't help but look back down to the porcelain face then after many moments of hesitation he sat back down then leaned down and planted a soft kiss over the soft cheek.

He then left again to head to his office but he was unaware that Suurin was half asleep and now laying in their bed caressing his cheek thoughtfully.

Later that day while Suurin was doing some light garden work a pebble most likely dropped by a bird got stuck in his geta and caused him to trip in a way that twisted his ankle and sent him backward onto his bottom.

Kyion was at his side practically as he hit the ground and scooped him up into his strong arms protectively then swiftly carried him back inside their home and then to bed.

Kyion laid him in bed then immediately started looking him over for injuries.

"Kyion I'm alright!"  Suurin tried to reassure him but the man was already wrapping his foot and looking him over for any cuts.

He tried to sit him up and in doing so for the first time his hand touched Suurin's belly and for the first time he felt his child kick.

He was frozen in time with his eyes wide and breathless as he rather hesitantly let his hand rest over his feisty little baby while tears fell from his eyes then Suurin reached out his hand and wiped away the tears which caused their eyes to meet.

"Kyion...hold me tight!"

Kyion laid next to Suurin and snuggled him closely with one hand over where their child rested and as they also rested he would rub gentle half circles with his thumb.
