Otōsan

Suurin awoke the next morning in a strange but colorful house hearing cheerful voices around him one of which he recognized as Yuki but another one he didn't recall hearing before.

He wanted Kyion even though he felt he could trust Yuki who he supposed was now also his nephew!

His head hurt thinking about this but he also began to question how he got here and then...panic rose in him as he remembered and he felt tears in his eyes as he quickly put his hands over his belly.

Yuki walked in with a bowl of soup but he put it down and sat next to his bed on the floor.

"It's alright dear!"

Suurin starts shaking and crying as he silently shouts out

"My...my baby! Yuki is my baby alright!"

Yuki smiles and picks up the soup and says 

"You're both sick and need a lot to eat but yes! Your both fine!"

Then a tall and beautiful older man in yellow walks in with joyful tears in his eyes and a tray with a bunch of hot foods and leaves.

"Oh sweetie I'm so sorry we had to meet under such circumstances but I'm so happy to meet you! I'm Karu or as you can call me Obaasan!"

Oh, I remember being told of him...he's my Kyion's Obaasan!

"Oh!...I'm sorry I must have made such a mess I-"

But he is sweetly interrupted by the man in the yellow kimono who sat down next to the bed on the opposite side as he said with taking the bowl from Yuki

"Oh, sweetie don't say such silly things it's a delight to have you and to know that I'm going to be an Obaasan twice over!"

The kind man then fluffs up the pillows and gently picks of Suurin to help him eat as he tells Yuki to go to the Kie estate

"For what Obaasan?"

"Your uncle Yuki and don't fight me on this!"

Yuki leaves in a bit of a huff but Suurin doesn't notice.

Karu helps him eat and he begins to feel better and all warm inside.

"There sweetheart!"

"Thank you so much honorable Obaasan your so kind!"

"Oh dearie it's nothing and you don't have to call me any formal titles! We're family!"

Suurin smiled and blushed a little at being treated so kindly wich made Karu giggle and fawn over him like he was a cute kitten

"Aww, you're so sweet! How did I get a new grandson so sweet! I could just eat you up!"

Over the next few hours, the two of them got closer and talked and joked but as the day got later Suurin as he cradled his bump felt himself drift off into his thoughts.

"Dearie, what's wrong?"

Suurin wasn't sure how to answer but he felt save with Karu so with some stutters he finally answered

"Karu...is...is Kyion angry with me?"

"...No dear! Not at all, he's just complicated that's all! He loves you both so much Suurin even if he doesn't always know how to show it!"

"What do you mean?"

Karu leaned back next to a dresser as he prepared to tell the dark tale

"He was raised in a childhood of no love dear! His Otōsan was a cruel man!...a monster in fact!" 

He sighed as he then continued

"The man killed most of his brothers for being born Shiyūdōtai"

Suurin gasped

"His poor Daha was left mentally scarred after that and even tried to kill him before he was born! Can imagine this made the bond between the two of them torn...his Daha loved him but at the same time was afraid of what he would become so throughout his childhood he never met the eyes of his own Daha! He never got to play or snuggle with his Daha instead as a young child he had to face the reality that his own Daha was afraid of him"

Suurin felt his heart break

"From the moment he could walk his Otōsan trained him to be a ruthless killer I can still remember the time when he brought home a puppy and took care of it but his Otōsan was angry so he told the boy to kill the puppy when he couldn't he killed the dog in front of him!"

Suurin felt choked up

" I tried my best throughout his childhood to help him but there was only so much I could do! Relationships are always hard for him even though he is a very selfless and kind person he often does not know how to show it or show that he cares! At least not directly or in a way that is recognizable!"

Karu goes on 

"I know that he cares for you a lot did you know that when you first came here he ordered you the biggest wedding gift I've ever heard of he didn't know what you would need so he had me make a whole bunch of kimonos for you! They were supposed to be delivered a few weeks ago but I needed to resize them!"

Suurin felt awestruck and his cheeks went a little red

"before he had the order made he was walking around downtown looking at all the shops seeing what all the other Shiyūdōtai liked because he wanted you to be happy! And he was very diligent about it he even wrote down all the important things on a piece of paper I still have it!"

The man giggled as he went on

"after your wedding when someone tried to poison you and you fainted he went on a hunt to find who it was and when he did I'm sure that they wished they were never born!...you see he protects you very diligently even if on the outside it seems very strict because protecting is one of the only ways that he knows to show you that he loves you!"

Then Karu looks a bit sad again as he continues

" when you were hurt out there he ran all the way here and literally busted down my door and when I came downstairs to see what was going on we heard him screaming for any sort of help as he held you in his arms he was crying and terrified praying for your life and for your little one to be safe! He cried all night when we thought that the child was dead he believed that it was his fault because he didn't protect the both of you!"

Suurin felt his heart do a strange leap in his chest 

"He loves you enough to move mountains for you and I can already tell that he adores that baby!"

Suurin felt tears in his eyes which made Karu worried

"Oh, dearie I didn't mean to make you cry!"

"No, it's alright! I ...I just wish I could hold him!"

Just then the two of them heard the sounds of a commotion downstairs and running up the stairs then suddenly Kyion came almost falling through the door with a teary face with his robes and hair a mess as he reeked of alcohol.

Suurin had never seen him cry before or look such a mess.

Kyion spoke in a broken sob with his broad shoulders quivering a little

"Suurin!... Our little one is alright!"

Suurin felt tears in his own eyes as he nodded back.

Then before he knew it Kyion ran to him and fell to his knees before him where he then hugged him around the waist and cried into his lap.

"Kyion I didn't want you to find out like this! I wanted it to be special!"

"I'm a terrible Otōsan!"

"No your not! You saved us both!"

"Our son is strong and did it on his own...he defied death! Little Hasume"

Suurin couldn't help but smile

"Yes! That shall be his name!"

Kyion kissed the small bump and then embraced Suurin in a deep kiss.

Karu left content that this boy could save his Kyion indeed.
