Chapter three
Jakes got home and his father looking terrible.
Jakes said "Dad, what are your plans tonight, I was thinking we could have a dinner together remember mom's laugh her silly jokes and the stories she used to tell, her life. Will tell the chef to cook mom's favourite dishes and dessert and for the music classic of course."
His father staring at him.
Jakes's father said "what have you done with my son?"
He was worried about jakes today and got home early but jakes seemed to be doing better than him.
Jakes said "someone reminded me of what mom would have wanted."
Jakes's father said "can't wait to meet that person soon."
Jakes smiled. They had a lovely dinner, laughing, tears and dancing.
Well Laura was having the opposite of that, her father and her step mother were arguing this time was very loud and the fight got physical. Laura coming out of her room. "What's going on?" she said
They would usually argue about Laura, how she needs to cook and help out in the house. Laura's father lost his job. He had so many debts to pay.
Laura's Step Mother said "You stay out of this why don't you go and get a full time job help around here but you're useless, I don't get why my husband would let you stay here."
"Excuse me? " Laura said.
Laura's father said "enough you two. "
Laura's step Mother went on, "you don't have any respect for my man but yet he keeps putting up with you for what, he is not your father. " she said
"Just lies, how could you say such a thing." Laura said.
"Sorry, never meant for you to know the truth like this, I know you already think I am the worst step mother from hell." Laura's step mother said.
"Father, How's that possible you and my mother were high school sweet hearts is it not true?" Laura said.
Laura's father said "I'm sorry sweetheart."
"No, this can't be true." Laura said.
"Just the truth Laura, I am not your biological father." Laura's father said.
"So, what happened, my mother cheated on you, is that the reason you hate me, couldn't be there for me, when I needed you at my mother's funeral." Laura said
Laura crying and so furious.
"I can explain just need you to calm down, I do love you you're my daughter, doesn't matter whose blood you have and I was there at the funeral. I was drunk smelling booze, I was ashamed of myself, I wasn't a good husband to your mother, was standing across the street and waited for everyone to leave to say my goodbyes to her." Laura's Father said
"Who is my father and don't lie to me please." Laura said
Laura's father said "Taylor Thompson someone who used to be my friend."
Laura said "As in Eric's Father."
Laura's father said "yes, I know it's a lot to take in right now, will answer all your questions, you might have and promise me you won't go there to his place or even tell Eric. "
"I need some air." Laura said as she shuts the door.
Laura's father to Laura's step Mother "do you realize what you just did, I could lose her for good, who knows if she will come back or run to that fool Thompson."
Laura and Eric were related they always been close. Laura went out to the street running while crying and she kept walking and walking. She was now close to the park, she decided to go and sit there. She took her phone from her pocket.
Dear diary
"My Mother never kept secrets, she was honest to me, how she felt and how my father treated her, and I mean my step father now. We would talk about everything. Her relationship with my father was complicated, but she was always honest about it to me. Perfect to me, we communicated well. Now, I can't understand why she would have cheated on my father, my step father her cheating doesn't make sense. Oh my! Eric does he know maybe that's why he put up with me all these years , his being my shoulder to cry on never complain or judge me once, with my behaviour makes it hard for anyone to be close to me. Does Taylor Thompson know? I refuse to believe all of it. I'm so heartbroken, it hurts more than anything."
It was late and she still had to finish up the presentation she was working with jakes. She went home.
