Purchasing The Ancient Map

Eh? There is something like this?

Ranata is amazed by what he have founded.

A relic this heaven defying can be found laying around in the forgotten corner inside an antique..., no, a magic items shop?

Ranata found it hard to believe, but then again, this kind of opportunity better are not to be wasted.

And so, without further ado, he take the painting to the counter in order to purchase it.

"Madam, this scroll is good, how much is it?" asked Ranata to the aunty in the counter.

"Oh..., youngster, you fancy this map painting scroll? Although the land in that scroll is that of an unknown place, the intricate and detailed picture of this map make it a masterwork piece of art. How about a hundred gold coins?"

("Hmmm? It seems that even the aunty in the counter does not know the true value of this item...") Ranata thinked like that while agreeing to the price, afraid that the aunty will change her mind and raised the price.

All the girls who are still looking around picking their items gathered around Ranata and they are getting curious over why he choose to buy a painting with the price of ten swords.

"Hm? A Painting scroll? Oh! A Map?" Asked Layla.

"Why would you choose that? And it is also so expensive you can buy a full set of masterwork non magical equipments, too? Ouka also asked.

"Oh, my, are you also interested in the painting art too, Ranata? I see you have good eyes. This map have a detailed picture and is very creative. But even so, I think it is still too expensive...." Misha who appreciate the artwork like any of your typical elf is also getting baffled by the price of that map scroll.

Although a hundred gold coins are not too much for any of us now, considering that even a set of full armor (with non magical properties of course) are only priced at twenty gold coins, it is hard to accept that a map scroll which pictured an unknown land can be priced five times of that.

("Hm? I think the girls also have appraising spells or something like that. Why would they looked at this scroll like they are looking at a normal piece of artwork?") Ranata looked at Kiseki, Chikane and Reina who also looked at him and the map with curious eyes.

It seems that aside from him, everyone else is only seeing this map painting as just a normal scroll containing a work of art.

What the.... Ranata looked again at the painting in his hand and cast appraisal for a second time on it.

(Hmm?) Finally he understood something.

When he casted the appraisal spell earlier he also tap on his infinite knowledge that is like a borderless ocean in his mind.

As he always do something like that as a habit, he have come to forget that he is the only person here, and maybe also the only one in the world, who have eaten the Fruit of Knowledge and gaining an extraordinary amount of knowledge under the heaven.

It seems that to fully appraise this painting, one also need to have a superficial knowledge, or else one can only appraise this map painting scroll as a normal, mundane piece of art with no magical properties.

Ranata only smiled and put the map scroll inside his storage ring.

He only told the girls to continue with their shopping.

In the end, the girls end up only buying a handful supply of pills and potions and some enhancement or compound material for their spells and rituals.

Ranata does not buy anything more because he still have many medicinal herbs for healing and magical components in his ring and basket. So, he is not in a dire need of medicine or magical materials.

He even think of selling or giving it a bit to the girls if they needed it. .....

The sun has set on the western horizon when they all have finished with their shopping.

The seven of them walks on the town street to go back to the academy while basking under the orange ray of the setting sun. After arriving on the dorm area, they split up on their own way.

Ranata, along with Kiseki, Chikane and Reina go to their dorm mansion atop the small hill, overseeing all the dorms below it.

The three of them then entered each of their rooms to do their business

Ranata, now alone in his room, take bath first to cleanse his body and then changing his clothes to a neat and clean one before he took out the map painting scroll from his storage ring and opened the scroll while holding it with both of his hands....
